Chapter 5
Suki's pov
I groaned and sat up in my bed with the worst hangover I had in a good long while. I sat up, leaning over myself with my head pressed into my hands. The door slammed open with my caring, and loud ass lover holding a tray.
"Suki! I have come with water and breakfast!"
"Kyojuro, I love you, but shut the hell up."
He laughed as my head throbbed mercilessly.
"The next time I even look at alcohol, please knock some sense into me."
"Alright, love. Here, Shinobu made you a simple oatmeal and berries for breakfast. I also brought a glass of water to ease your headache."
"D'aww, thank you."
I go to kiss him, but he moves away from me! That put me in a righteously pissed mood.
"Your breathe smells like sake and cherry juice."
I huffed and snatched the tray from him.
"Thank you for telling me, Rengoku-san. I'll be fine now."
When I addressed him by his last name, he looked like I shot him with an arrow. He sulked out of the room, dragging his feet.
"Um, Suki-san?"
"Oh, come in Tanjiro-kun, please mind mind my bad breath!"
I shouted the last bit to make Kyo-kun feel bad and know why he's being punished. Tanjiro flinched before walking in.
"Suki-san why is Rengoku-san face first in the hallway?"
"I'm so sorry. Is he a disturbance?"
"No, but why?"
"Don't worry dear. Did you get a new mission yet?"
"No, but I did have a question for you."
"Ask away, if I can help, I will."
"Do you have any knowledge on Sun Breathing?"
"My my, I haven't heard of that style in years."
"You know of it?!"
"Not exactly. Sit."
Tanjiro excitedly sat at the foot of my bed, eagerly awaiting my response.
"Before I came to be a demon slayer, I lived I a deplorable town. It...wasn't an Ideal place to be. Little ten year old me was getting beaten for stealing a piece of bread, so I wouldn't go hungry that day. I was covered in welts and blood five seconds in, due to my scrawny, malnourished body. A man dressed a kimono with red, yellow, and orange coloration stopped the beating. He paid the shopkeep for the bread and took me to the nicest inn that town had and treated me to a week of clean food, clean water, and comfortable bedding."
I looked up to the ceiling and softly smiled at those fond memories.
"I was so grateful to that man. He saved my life. I would often hear him speaking to, what I know now, to be a kasugai crow. The man paid for three days for me to stay there with the best food and water and quickly left the inn. Before he left he was chanting sentences I could barely make out, but Sun Breathing was definitely repeated often. He was most likely practicing the forms. I'm afraid that's all I have on that particular breathing technique."
"Thank you for telling me Suki-san."
"Of course Tanjiro. Would you mind helping me to the kitchen please?"
The door slammed open.
"I'll help you Suki!"
I turned my face away at Kyo-kun's desperate attempts.
"There will be no need for that Rengoku-san. You can help this tray to the bathhouse?"
I placed the tray in his waiting hands and watched him sulk out of the room in defeat.
"You're mad at Rengoku-san?"
"Yes. He refused me a good morning kiss! That is so rude!"
Tanjiro helped me get out of the uncomfortable hospital bed and down the halls to the communal baths.
"Do you need any more help Suki-san?"
"No, but you can tell Lady Shinobu where I am. She'll want to join me."
"She bathes with you?!"
"Yes. She loves to care for my hair."
"I'll...go let her know. Should I tell Rengoku-san?"
I thought about whether or not to bath with him.
"Actually, on second thought, tell Kyo-kun I'm waiting for him and tell Lady Shinobu to not come here."
"Got it!"
I watched him run off, only to receive Aoi's sandal to the head.
"No running in the halls!"
I laughed and freshened up. I cleaned the grime off, brushed my teeth, and limped to the hot, medicinal water. I head the door open and closed hesitantly. I felt him kneel behind me.
"Suki?"
"Kyojuro. The next time you refuse me my good morning kiss, you will get the full on silent treatment for a week and you will prohibited from entering my room. Do I make myself crystal clear?"
"Yes Suki. I'm sorry for not greeting you properly this morning."
My head was pulled backwards and we met in a world shattering kiss. The kiss alone made my brain fuzzy and I lost my cognitive functions. He broke the kiss and slid in the water behind me. He turned me around, made me straddle his lap and brought me back int for another kiss. I wrapped my arms around his neck and deepened the kiss with what little strength I had. He broke the kiss again and leaned his forehead against my own. I was panting, face flushed, adn eyes teary.
"Do you forgive me Suki?"
"Uh huh."
He lifted me out of the water and and sat me on the edge. He stayed in the water. He looked at my healing thigh and gently kissed it. I laughed and ruffled his hair.
"Kyo-chan, your so silly."
I brought his face back up to mine and kissed the tip of his nose.
He smirked at me as he yanked me back into the water.
(~Insert Steamy Scene~)
<~>
I wore a pair of light blue shorts, along with one of Kyo-kun's black short sleeved shirts.
After our, ahem, bath, Kyo-chan dropped me off in my hospital room and went outside to train Tanjiro's sword play. I watched from the window as Kyo-kun' took off his shirt in the warm summer heat.
"Suki!"
I snapped my gaze to Aoi-chan as Kanao and her were testing my reflexes. Thanks to the hot spring bath and, liberal stretching exercises, my leg didn't hurt.
"I'm fine girls."
I turned my attention back outside. Kyo-kun was not doing basic katas, when he sent a smirk toward me. I blushed, having been caught and caught some thrown at my head. I looked at Aoi's sandal and threw it back to her without looking. Her quiet 'ow' was more than enough to tell me that I smacked her in the head with her sandal.
"Suki-san is in perfect health."
I patted Kanao's head and smiled absently as Kyo-kun was showing Tanjiro the first form to his Flame Breathing.
"Although, I recommend no alcohol intake for a week."
I nodded.
"Let's go to the yard Suki-sama. I have to write down your current speed and sword skills."
I took a regualar katana from Kanao and followed Aoi at my normal, slow, leisurely pace. We reached the yard, where Tanjiro, his friends, Kyo-kun, and Lady Shinobu all sat on the deck.
"Why are staying on the deck again Rengoku-san?"
"Just watch."
"Alright Suki-sama. From here to the tree, to the deck, the tree again, then back here. Girl, set up the dummies."
Sumi, Kiyo, and Naho set up five demon dummies around the areas I'm to run to. One in front of the tree, two in the branches, one next to the deck and one right next to Kanao.
"On my whistle, three, two -"
As soon as I heard that whistle I was off. I was barely visible. A gust of wind followed me to the tree, into the foliage, to the deck, and back to where I was initially standing. As soon as I stopped moving, a small shockwave happened. Everyone's hair was frozen behind their heads from the pure wind I generated while running. All at once, all the demon dummy's heads fell to the ground. I handed the sword back to Kanao and stretched my arms up.
"Eight point nine seconds. Your were a little slow this run Suki-sama."
"Oh well. I'm fast enough for duty regardless."
I laughed a bit at Inosuke yells for me to fight him.
"That's my Suki!"
"Caw! Caw! Mission for Kamado, Agatsuma, Hashibira, Rengoku, and Suki! You must investigate the Mugen Train! Caw caw! Go to the Mugen Train!"
Oyakata-sama's crow flew away and we all looked at each other.
"I'll meet you all there. My sword arrives later today."
I leisurely walked to the kitchen and started making four bentos. For Inosuke, I made tempura shrimp, rice, and pickled plums on the side. For Tanjiro pork buns and bean paste buns. For Zenitsu, I made rolled omelette, meatballs, and a small tomato salad. For my beloved Rengoku and his monstrous appetite, I had a special two layer, metal bento box.
The bottom layer was a savory pork miso ramen complete with two fish cake slices, a thick piece of chashu, green onion, sesame seeds, a little bit of pickle ginger, and a sliced soft boiled egg. The top layer had the bottom filled with rice, on top of the rice were thick pieces of karaage, in the corner was a thinly radish. Under the rice, were thick slices of sweet potatoes. I carried the bentos to the main entrance where everyone was ready to go.
"Tanjiro."
"Yes Suki-san?"
I handed him his bento.
"Zenitsu."
"Y-yes?"
I gave him his.
"Ino -"
"Mine!"
He snatched his bento away, and I turned to Kyo-kun.
"Here you go."
"Thank you, love!"
I turned to all of them.
"I'll join you all right after I get my sword. I wish you all uck and safety in the mean time."
