Chapter 3

Suki's pov

I followed Shirokai for I think five of ten miles, before he alerted me to a demon behind me. I took my baby blue blue nichirin sword out of the butterfly styled scabbard and and turned around. I swung and blocked my own strike with the scabbard.

"Nezuko?"

The demon girl smiled at me. She was the size of her brother and she held her box on her back.

"I'm just going to assume Tanjiro doesn't know you're out here. Why'd you follow me?"

She jumped and hugged my neck. I couldn't help but smile and hug her back.

"Oh well. Your here now. It'll be morning soon. Into your box you go."

After ushering her into her box, I slipped it onto my back and beckoned Shirokai down to me.

"Shirokai, I have an important message for you. Go to the Insect Estate and inform Tanjiro that Nezuko followed me. I'll keep her safe, so he doesn't have to worry."

"Caw! Okay!"

Shirokai's pov

I flew from my Master's arm and the tiring trek back where I flew from. Peeking in the Kamado boy's window, he was searching everywhere for the big wooden box. I flew around the estate for an open window I could flew threw. I found Master's mate. I flew down to him and landed on his shoulder.

"You're Suki's crow. Is he in danger?!"

"Caw! Master has a message for the Kamado boy! Caw caw!"

The Flame pillar nodded and walked inside and directly to the Kamado boy's room.

"Rengoku-san! Have you seen Nezuko?"

"Caw! Message from Suki! Tanjiro, your sister has followed me to my mission. I will protect her so don't fret about her safety. Caw!"

"She...followed Suki-san?"

"Shirokai! Thank Suki for the message and tell him I love him!"

The Kamado boy went beet red and the Flame pillar laughed at the embarrassed human.

"Caw caw!"

I flew out the newly opened window and started the long journey a third time.

Suki's pov

I found a old woman willing to house me for the day so I can travel at night with Nezuko. She served me a bowl of miso soup, rice, and grilled fish for breakfast, lunch and dinner. I saved Kyo-kun's bento for the nighttime. I was tired, but sleep could be pushed off for another night or two.

After night fell, I let Nezuko out of her box. She ran alongside me for a good mile, until I saw Shirokai cawing at me. I stopped and let him sit on my arm.

"Caw...Caw...Message from Flame Pillar! Thank you for the heads up Suki-chan! I cannot wait for your return! I love you! Now please let me rest caw caw."

I smiled and pet my poor tired crow.

"Thank you Shirokai. You can rest with me. I'll walk the rest of the way."

I transferred him to my shoulder and walked with Nezuko running slightly ahead of me. She was looking at animals, trying to catch fireflies, and overall just being an excited kid. I saw a village ahead all lit up.

"Nezuko, dear come over here."

Nezuko ran to my side and held my hand. I covered my sword with my haori and we walked in. It was a bad village. Full of sleezey men and prostituting women. I covered Nezuko's eyes as we walked through.

"Hey! Girlie! Come over here!"

I ignored the taunts and disgusting comments and continued my pace.

"Look at me when I'm talking to you!"

Nezuko's arm was grabbed and I smacked his face with the hilt of my sword.

"You will not grab her like that you pig. Do it again and your lose your hand."

I no longer hid my sword and continued walking. It didn't take long to leave the village, but Nezuko was huddled up on my side, shaking. Wait...she wasn't shaking.

I lifted my hand to my face and as I guessed, I was shaking like a leaf. Maybe I should've taken Kyojuro with me. I let out a shaky breath and turned to Shirokai.

"I gonna start running again. You might want fly ahead and see how close we are."

I started running again and Shirokai flying above me.

"Caw caw! destination reached! Stop running!"

I halted my run, causing Nezuko to trip and fall on the sand.

"It'll be light out soon. Into you box dear."

I helped Nezuko into her box and sat in a tree. I ate Kyo-kun's bento. I snickered at the fact that he burned the rice and the meatballs were more like meat triangles, but it made me happy that he didn't ask for hel. It tasted delicious nonetheless. I slept the day away preparing for my upcoming battle.

<~>

I woke up to screams and the stench of blood. I left Nezuko's box in the tree and stalked toward the beach. A demon was interrupting a lovely festival by terrorising the poor humans. By the looks of it, he hasn't eaten anyone yet.

"Oh? I know that stink! I wondered when I would see you demon slayer!"

He tossed the man he dug his claws into aside and changed at me.

"Insect breathing, first form,"

"Don't ignore me!"

"Caprice!"

I launched myself at the demon, slicing him many times, inject the wisteria poison into him.

"Small cuts? You failed in cutting off my head!"

As he laughed, I sheathed my sword and turned away from him. As he sizzled from the poison I treated the wounds the humans had sustained.

"There you go. I hope your festival is safe. I'll stick around to protect you. Nezuko!"

Nezuko ran to me holding her box.

"Thank you sweetie."

The humans gave me gifts and food, which I happily took apart of. I kept Nezuko close by my side the whole time, to ward off the lovestruck boys staring at her. They reminded me of little Senjuro when I went to visit him. Although he was more in awe that I loved his brother more than he did. After all the humans were safely escorted to their village by the kakushi, I looked up at the moon.

"Shirokai, go tell Oyakata-sama that I've completed this mission. Then tell Kyo-kun that-"

My body was yanked to the ground harshly as a demon flew over my head. The words 'Lower two' etched into the right eye.

"Shirokai! Go to the estate! Bring Kyojuro here immediately! I'm now fighting one of the Demon Moons!"

I blocked countless strikes from the Demon's claws.

"If I kill you, he won't kill me!"

I backflipped over a jab from a spear.

"Who are you talking about?!"

A demon wielding a weapon is so rare. Rare, but nonetheless dangerous. He suddenly backed off and pointed his spear at me.

"What is your name, Demon Slayer?"

"Suki."

"I am Lower Moon Two, Rokuro. Your death will secure my life!"

He quickly lunged his spear at me with such strength, he broke through my sword. I was too much in shock to dodge the unexpected toss of his spear. It tore right through my left thigh. I bit back my scream and my braid fell from my bun. I tossed my broken weapon aside and lifted the scabbard like a sword. While I have the strength to wield a sword properly, I chose to mirror Lady Shinobu's Style properly. I placed all my weight on my right leg. Rokuro lifted his spear out of the ground and licked my blood off the blade.

"Hmm, I might rethink my intentions. Your blood in rather sweet for a human. Even more divine than marechi even. I think delivering you to him will be a splendid offering!"

He lunged forward again, but I was ready this time. As the spearhead drove toward me, I flipped the scabbard and it sunk through the sword slot. Using the momentum, I twisted the scabbard and broke the spear in many different places. He let go and jumped a few feet back. I tossed the scabbard behind me, but I fell to my knees. The blood loss was getting to me. The hole in my thing poured like a faucet.

"You may have destroyed my spear, but you will die soon anyway."

I took deep breaths, trying to use total concentration to slow the bleeding. I barely noticed Rokuro picking up his spearhead and throwing it at my head. I quickly pushed my head away, and the spearhead cut through part of my braid. I continued to focus on my breathing.

"What're you doing?! You shouldn't be fighting me runt!"

I opened one eye and saw Nezuko furiously attacking Rokuro. She was slashing at him with her claws. I smiled weakly at her before coughing. I need to focus. I kept a slow steady, and controlled pace in my breathing. The scent of cinnamon and sweet potatoes entered my nose, making me smirk.

"Nezuko, fall back..."

I only just realized how rough I sounded. It pained me to hear myself. Nezuko jumped away from Rokuro just as a sword sword sliced off his head.

"Suki!"

I felt myself being lifted into a pair of arms, I knew all too well.

"Thanks for the help Kyo-kun."

"Suki, don't you dare speak! I have to stop the bleeding!"

"Lady...Shinobu?"

"I said to stop talking!"

I shut up as she tied my leg off.

"Demon Girl, I need you to cauterize the wound."

"Mm Mmm!"

I felt a pair a lips on my forehead and a intense heat on my open wound. I dug my nails into the arm closest to that hand, I bit down on my bottom lip.

"Suki..."

I forced my eyes open and watched what was happening. Nezuko avoided meeting my gaze as a magenta flame erupted from her hand. Lady Shinobu was grinding herbs for making a sedative in her mortar as quickly as she could. Kyo-kun was studying Nezuko's progress. He looked sick, worried, scared, and I justed wanted him to look at me.

"Kyo-kun..."

His face snapped to mine and relief flooded his handsome features.

"Suki, love. Where's your sword?"

I let my vice grip fall from the hand it was attached to and pointed behind Lady Shinobu. I was only able to see the hilt and a little bit of the blade. I couldn't see the other half of the blade.

"Suki. I need you to drink this."

I tried to lift my arm to the cup, but it fell back to the ground.

"I can't move my arm."

"Kyojuro."

"Yeah."

I felt the rim of the cup press to my lip. I drank the water slowly and felt the effects immediately.

"When I'm back at the estate, I want wine, and a lot of it."

I closed my eyes and nuzzled into Kyo-kun's chest.
