Suki's pov

I sat in my chair in Lady Shinobu's estate. She placed me in charge while she went out to the mountains to assist a group of mizunoto. I was enraptured in a novel given to me by my love. I was technically Lady Shinobu's Tsuguko, but I left those responsibilities to Kanao, so she went with Lady Shinobu. 

I was found by Lady Shinobu and Miss Kanao when I was seventeen, two years ago. I was an abandoned, mute kid in a poor village. I had to steal food and was always beaten for it when they caught me. My hair only reached my shoulder blades then. I was being beaten black and blue for taking an apple from a stand when Lady Shinobu rescued me. 

The angry apple seller was whipping me with a long strip of bamboo when Miss Kanao's blade sliced through the bamboo. I looked up from my curled position on the ground. Lady Shinobu grabbed my arm and escorted me to the nearest estate, belonging to Lord Uzui. His wives are lovely women. He asked me to be his forth wife, but I told him I was a boy, and not interested in women. 

Lord Uzui prepared a carriage for Lady Shinobu and Kanao to get back to the Insect estate. There, Lady Shinobu treated my injuries and fed me amazing food. She even went through the trouble of teaching me Insect Breathing and after I made through the Final Selection, she made me her Tsuguko. 

As much as I appreciated the kindness she shown me, I have no interest in being a Demon Slayer. I go n the scattered mission when my Kasugai tells me, but he knows to leave me alone when there are other Demon Slayers available to take it. 

I smiled as I turned the page in my book. 

Two years. My sapphire colored hair now fell just above my waist, and my eyes, free of dirt, were a lovely indigo color. I never faced hunger pains ever since my last home. I turned the page again as Kanao ran in and tugged my sleeve. 

"Lady Kocho requested your presence in the courtyard."

I  stood up and pulled on a similar haori to Kanao's, but much bigger. I strapped my blade to my hip and started walking to the courtyard. I saw a young boy on the ground with Lord Sanemi stabbing through a box. The boy ran to Lord Sanemi and headbutted. My jaw fell open as Sanemi's forehead bleed and he knelt to the ground. I ran over with a speed that made the Hashira's heads spin. 

"I'm fine. Go away Suki."

"Lord Sanemi, I will tie you up if I have to, don't try me."

He sat still as I cleaned his cut. 

"Suki-chan, come over here."

I stood up and knelt next to the young boy, ignoring the Insect Hashira. 

"Apologies Lady Shinobu, I have yet to treat this young man."

"Suki, he was harboring a demon."

I stiffened, but still treated his injuries. Lord Sanemi pulled the box into the shade and a young girl with a bamboo muzzle stood up. She was drooling at the sight of Lord Sanemi's bloody arm. She turned her head and clenched her eyes defiantly. I smiled. As the Hashira spoke to Oyakata-sama, I knelt next to the demon girl. 

"Hello, I'm Suki."

I patted her head and picked her up. She stared at me with pik pink eyes before patting my head, not unlike I just did for her. I smiled at her and set her back into the box.

"If you wouldn't mind getting back into your box, I'll take you and your brother to the Butterfly estate."

She nodded at me and shrunk her size. I covered her box with with my haori and looked to the Flame Hashira. 

"Kyo-kun, help me with this young boy."

My overgrown puppy ran over to me and lifted the boy. I smiled and started walking back to  the estate. Kyo-kun followed right behind me like I had him on a leash. When I reached the estate I pulled thick curtains over the windows and turned the lights on their dimmest setting. I let the demon girl out of her box and had Kyo-kun plan the boy on the cot. 

"Hello, my name is Suki. What's yours?"

"Tanjiro Kamado, thank you for your help Miss Suki."

"Tanjiro, I'm not a woman."

"Eh?"

I smiled at his confused face, and turned to Kyo-kun.

"Kyo-kun, could you fetch Aoi-chan for me?"

"Yes! I'll be back soon!"

As soon as Kyo-kun left, I took off the top half of Tanjiro's uniform. 

"Oh my, this looks quite painful. How are you feeling?"

"I-it hurts, but I'll be okay."

"You are covered in many deep and shallow cuts full of debri and you have multiple broken bones. I'll decide whether you'll be okay or not. Isn't that right Miss demon?"

"Her name is Nezuko!"

A wooden shoe smacks Tanjiro in the head and falls into his lap.

"My boy, you do not raise your voice to Suki!"

I turned to smile at Kyo-kun and his bright, and annoyed, grin. 

"It's alright Kyo-kun. He didn't mean to yell. Now Aoi-chan, please come tend to young Tanjiro. I'll go see to his companions. Nezuko-chan, you might want to stay in this room. I'll let you roam freely at night. Come on Kyo-kun."

I grabbed his haori and dragged him out of the room. I started walking to the room with loud screams. I found Kanao trying to administer treatment, but the blonde boy was in hysterics. I chuckled and took the chart from Sumi-chan. 

"Oh dear, Zenitsu Agatsuma?"

He stopped screaming long enough to look at me. 

"Hello dear, I'm Suki. I'm going to have to ask to to keep quiet. You're disturbing the other patients in the estate. I'm well aware your scared, but you'll be fine if you calm down and let Kanao treat you."

He nodded at me, blushing. 

"Thank you for your cooperation. Kanao, where is the boar boy?"

Kanao smiled and flipped her coin. 

"He's in the next room."

"Thank you sweetie. Let's go Kyo-kun."

I handed Sumi her chart and walked to the other room. From Aoi's description of the boy, he was loud, brash, and irritating. What I saw, was a boy hugging his boar head mask while curled on his side. I knew that look. I smiled softly and walked toward the boy. 

"Hello. I'm Suki. What's your name?"

The boy jumped and shoved his mask back on.

"I'm Inosuke Hashibira! Where's Gonpachiro and Monitsu?!" 

I laughed and patted his head. I reached into my sleeve and place an incense burner on the side table. I lit the sticks and wafted the smoke toward the young boy.

"Your friends are safe. They are being treated by my friends in different room, Inosuke. Can I take off your mask?"

"No!"

He took his mask off and held it close to him.

"No one is allowed to touch it but me!"

"Alright. I won't touch it."

I proceeded to bandage the cuts and bruises on his face in a relative silence. 

"Kyo-kun, go get some food for Inosku please."

"Yes Suki-chan! I'll be back soon!"

He kissed my head and ran out of the room. 

"Your mate is the Flame Hashira?"

"Yes. Where's you family Inosuke?"

"My human parents abandoned me and this boar raised me." 

He held up his, apparently real, boar head. 

"She was killed  by a hunter so I kept her head with me. Why am I telling you my secrets?"

He was confused, but I smiled at him. 

"My special incense calm people down enough for them to speak freely without noticing it. I'm quite surprised you noticed it, you are a very observant young boy."

His cheeks flushed a light pink as he started at me in awe.

"Since you spoke about yourself so generously, I'll give you a treat."

I reached into my haori pocket and pulled out a little daifuku package. I make daifuku with sedative herbs and painkillers to put my patients at ease and fall asleep. He tried to take it, but I held it away.

"You need to eat some real food before dessert Inosukee-chan."

I brushed his hair and wrapped his arms and legs in bandages. I also helped him slide on baby blue medical clothes before Kyo-kun walked in with Sumi, Kiyo, and Naho. They three girls brought the tray to Inosuke and he ate the food with a vigor that rivals only Kyojuro. I hid my laugh behind my hand and gave Inosuke his daifuku. 

After eating it, I made him drink a glass of juice, to replenish the glucose in his blood. He fell asleep soon after.
