A warm breeze blew sand against my legs in pitter patter motions. The sensations was soothing, drawing me further along the shore of the beach. Sand stretched out in every direction up until the crashing waves. Water lapped at the shore in delicate licks. The sun was setting against the horizon, like it was dipping beneath the water and the waves swallowed up the light.

Stars glittered in the sky behind me, sweeping over to where the sun had finally set, pulling the vibrant oranges and yellows from the sky. I looked at the glistening waves, the water like liquid silver under the moon's gaze. I sunk down into the soft sand watching the waves roll in and out, like breathing.

I heard footsteps from behind me and when I turned my head, I saw Lucas approaching . It was odd to see him walking on the beach but like every other place he seemed like he belonged. Lucas sat down next to me without saying a word.

With a delicate hand he cupped my cheek and traced lazy patterns behind my ear. Goosebumps broke out over my skin at the sensation and I closed my eyes. There was a part of my brain screaming at me, to stop this madness but the delicious patterns and the sound of the waves were too hypnotic to resit. Why did I want to resit in the first place?

Slowly, I opened my eyes to see Lucas looking at me through hooded eyes, dark lust and something more swirled in their depths. Then he moved closer until he was only inches away and before I knew what was happening he crashed his lips against mine. Lighting traveled through every part of my body, lighting the atoms on fire and scorching any protest I might have had.

My fingers found their way into his hair and he pulled me closer, but it would never be close enough. Lucas traced the seam of my lips with his tongue and I moaned into the kiss. The beach, the waves and even the star glittered sky disappeared as I gave into the sensation. I straddled his lap and Lucas gripped my hips, fingers digging into the soft exposed flesh as I deepened the kiss.

I swirled my hips and nearly cried out in ecstasy as my heated core made contact with Lucas' own desire. In one swift motion Lucas flipped me on my back and I folded my legs around his waist, all without breaking the kiss. The hunger inside me grew tenfold and I raked my nails down his back.

When Lucas broke the kiss and buried his face in the crook of my neck I arched my hips forward and gasped. His lips touched my feverish skin and it took my all not to squirm underneath him. It still wasn't enough, the teasing alone was driving me off a very steep cliff. My fingers grabbed a hold of his shirt and tugged it over his head and at the far back of my mind I heard him chuckle.

"Katelyn."

"Hmm?" I mumbled still lost to the pleasure.

I loved the way my name sounded on his lips, like a sweet melody only I could hear.

"Katelyn?"

"Yes?"

The haze around me shifted and I was alone again, on the beach, starting at the stars overhead. I frowned in confusion but I didn't move. They sky seemed to be moving as the stars swirled around me.

"Katelyn, wake up!"

A series of loud bangs pulled me from my dream leaving me highly confused and somewhat embarrassed. My eyes traveled over the bedroom and I immediately sat up pen straight. The pounding however didn't stop.

I tossed the covers aside and ran to the front door of the cottage and swung the door open. Liam was standing at the door with his forehead creased in annoyance.

"You sleep like the damn dead!"

"You better have a very good excuse for waking me up," I growled under my breath, making sure to put as much venom in my voice as possible.

Liam's eyes went wide as he held his hands up and started backing away slowly, "You went from cute to scary so fast! My excuse is breakfast and Monica sent me so go easy on me will you?"

I checked the time on the wall clock and was surprised to see it was eight in the morning. Racking my brain, I tried to remember that last time I had slept so late? The events of my dream flitted through my mind and I felt my skin flush with heat.

"Oh, yeah sure. I'll be there in a few minutes."

"By the way, what did you say to Lucas? He's been walking around like a wounded bear trying to bite my head off?"

The question caught me off guard and I frowned, "Nothing."

I closed the door in an effort to silence Liam and ran for the bathroom. Once there, I opened the water and stripped all my clothing before jumping in. Leaving the water cold, I stood under the spray and tried to blast away the heat I could still feel on my skin. My fingers traced my lips and I could almost feel the scorching kisses still burn there.

Not even the blast of the cold water was enough to kill the heat raging inside me but I blamed Diane. She was the one who put that crazy idea in my head! Never before have my dreams about Lucas been that, I've always, thankfully, woken up in time.

After my all too quick and all too cold shower, I got dressed and walked to the main house. How on earth was I supposed to act normal around Lucas now? My heart beat picked up with every step closer to the house.

Under the trepidation there was also a glimmer of excitement at seeing him. I knew in my heart it could never happen that way, we were too different. But there was still the dream, clinging to me and no matter how I tried I couldn't shake it.

Monica was busy frying bacon in a pan, the sizzling sound of popping oil and the smell off bacon filled the kitchen. Liam was busy snatching food from the bowls Monica must have set out and Olivia was also there, busy braiding Shay's hair. There was a pang in my chest when I realized Lucas wasn't there, peeking through the window I saw his truck was also gone and I felt my heart sink to the soles of my feet.

"Breakfast is ready honey, why don't you take seat." Monica said smiling at me.

I greeted Olivia and Shay, then took a seat across from Liam. Monica set down the tray of bacon and Liam started piling them on it plate before the tray could even hit the table.

Monica smacked his hand away, "leave some for everyone you hooligan!"

"Mrs. M, you wound me! I'm a growing man, I need more food!"

"If you grow anymore, I wouldn't be able to fit you and your ego inside my house."

Liam's mouth hung open and he pulled his hand back from the bacon. I stifled a laugh behind my hand at the wounded look on his face. If there was one person who could put Liam in his place, it was Monica.

"So, Katelyn, how have you been settling in?" Olivia asked after a beat of silence.

"Well she's sure got our boy Lucas in all kinds of knots!"

I narrowed my eyes at Liam but decided against telling him off, "It's been good, everyone is so helpful."

"Except Lucas, huh?"

"Seriously, what is your problem?" I asked him.

Liam grinned like he figured something out, "Oh nothing, just noticing a few things. That's all, I swear."

Olivia patted my shoulder, "Ignore Liam, most of us do anyway."

Liam's jaw shut with an audible smack and I smirked at him before stuffing a strip of bacon into my mouth.

"So what's your plans for the weekend Katelyn?" Liam asked.

I groaned, although I should have known that Liam wouldn't be deterred by one insult. Deep down, I got a feeling that Liam was a lot smarter than he was letting on, he seemed to be the only one to notice the tension between me and Lucas. He also stirred the pot every chance he got but I had to give the guy credit. He was one perceptive asshole.

"I don't have any and even if I did, I wouldn't tell you."

Liam rolled his eyes, "Let me guess, you're going to sit inside the cottage staring at the wall all day?"

"He's kinda right. You can't just sit in the cottage all weekend. You need to get out sometime."

"I don't really know a lot of places in Silver Point, or a lot people for that matter."

Olivia perked up, "There's a barbecue at Layton's place this weekend! You should come, get out and meet some people! It's also a lot of fun and we'll be there too!"

"I don't know if that's such a good idea."

The idea of spending an entire day with Lucas' friends and family had me feeling all kinds of nervous. I couldn't just put myself into Lucas' life like that, it was crazy. There was also the whole, I need to avoid you because you give me erotic dreams bit, that I had to keep in mind.

"Nonsense, it's a great idea. You might even meet someone you like." Olive bumped my arm with hers and winked at me.

Liam snorted a laugh, "And people say I'm slow!"

I narrowed my eyes just as Olivia spoke, "exactly what is that supposed to mean?"

"Oh nothing, you'll see," Liam said in a singsong voice.

Just then, Shay popped her head up next to my chair and grinned widely at me, the front tooth she's been playing with two night ago now gone.

"My tooth came out!" She squealed.

I found myself laughing, "I see that. Did you get any money from the tooth fairy."

Shay snorted and leaned closer and whispered to me, "Parents use the tooth fairy to trick kids into behaving. I'm too smart for that!"

My mouth hung open as Shay bounded off to her mother, across from me Liam tried to stifle a laugh.

"Let me guess, you told her that?"

Liam's eyes went wide, "I did no such thing. That child is way too clever for her own good."

I shook my head in disbelief, "Unbelievable."

Olivia scooped up Shay and walked over to me, "So we'll see you this weekend right?"

I thought it over, it would be nice to change the pace and even if Lucas was there I could still avoid him, since now it seems like he's avoiding me too. It should work better if both of us are doing it, right?

"Sure, I'm in."

Olivia left with Shay in tow and the moment they were out of earshot Liam turned to me, "Don't think I can't see what's going on between you and Lucas."

"You're delusional, there's nothing going on."

"Oh, I see your still in the denial phase?"

"And your permanently stuck in the crazy phase."

"Then why is Lucas not here?"

"He probably has work to do, I don't know!"

Liam smiled, "Probably."

Liam took a strip of bacon and popped it into his mouth before walking out of the kitchen leaving me more than confused.

Lucas wasn't home during the day for the next two days. He would be up way before anyone else and gone before anyone woke up. At night he only came home after dinner. I knew he was there though because at night I would slip out the cottage and dangle my feet into the swimming pool. From there I could see the light burning in his room before going dark.

Liam's words, however burned in my brain and I kept turning them over in my head trying to figure out what he meant. He clearly knew something that neither Lucas or I was aware of and I shudder to think what that is. There is this part of me that longs to see Lucas, to understand what the hell is going on between us, then there is another part of me with a pitchfork trying to keep him away.

My first week in Silver Point didn't quite go as planned, not only did I have the huge objective of fixing a house that's been empty for five years, figuring out my mom's big secret but now I also had Lucas to worry about. Then there was Micheal, who's been calling and texting everyday and I've been avoiding him. By now Diane would have told him that she spoke to me, I knew she wouldn't breath a word about Lucas but that didn't stop me from worrying about him. He was grieving as well and now I was adding to that stress.

Something kept me from calling him though, Micheal could always see right through me and it would only take one call for him to realize I was not okay. Having my brother in Silver Point was nothing short of a nightmare.
