Hopian 57 - A Vital Discussion
Last chapter, the story skipped to the day of when the fated meeting between the higher ups of the Hopian Army would occur. Head Commander Prósopsi, leader of the Hopian Army, with his godly companion Aphrodite who gives him his confidence went to inform "Father Kingmas" Ontarus, "Easter" the golden robot Ufisator, and the monstrous "Halloween" Aora that the meeting would be happening shortly.
Prósopsi's P.O.V.
"Haaaaahaha!! You just got denied- she only looked at you for a second after you used an ability that's literally only meant to make people bow to you! How pathetic, this is exactly why I changed your name to "Prósopsi" all those years ago!" Aphrodite mocks me as I slam the door to the gym shut with me trying to hide the mad and embarrased look on my face- which luckily isn't too hard due to the confidence Aphrodite's power gives me.
"Shut up." I respond boldly to keep my pride intact, which for some reason makes Aphrodite blush and smile...
"I hope I don't regret saying that... anyways, should I get anything ready for the meeting? I could get some snacks, I'm sure at least Ontarus would like them... maybe? But then, today two of the Commanders completely disrespected me... so no, I'll keep the meeting formal to keep them in check." I think to myself quickly and efficiently, as me and Aphrodite are already approaching the heavy wooden door to the empty conference room.
🎇🎇🎇
"Heh, god damn you're still huge." I finally hear the sound of the first Commander, Ontarus, say after I've been standing by the door for more than 20 minutes... and looking towards the sound I can see that Ontarus wearing his black rainbow neon rimmed fedora, denim jacket, and gray pants while holding a blunt in his hand like always is staring up at the giant golden robot walking beside him with his red eyes, Ufisator.
"AhyesIcannotgrow... so... I... will... always... be... likethis. Howhaveyoubeensir?" Ufisator asks in his monotone tone as his body's time slows down against his will, causing the hundreds of joints in his legs to compress like a spring as he starts to move in slow motion.
He then resumes his normal walking a second later as his legs decompress, with Ontarus letting out a laugh at it as he waits for the bot to catch up to him.
"Damn, still got that wacky power huh? Ah! Head Commander, it's nice to see ya again." Ontarus says timidly as he tilts his hat down at me and continues to walk in my direction.
"Likewise. You too Ufisator. Now we just wait for "her"..." I say in an unamused tone as the two reach the door right next to me as well. Course we won't enter in until Aora gets here though.
"Ah, yeah, that girl was ALWAYS trouble last time I met er'. Still the same?" Ontarus tries to throw her under the automatic bus to kiss up to me as he takes a puff out of his joint.
"Yep. Hopefully she didn't get even worse... and there will be no smoking during the meeting by the way, Ontarus." I say to him semi-casually as I keep my arms crossed to look tough as he coughs out a cloud of smoke.
"Why, he's smoking hot though~" Aphrodite says with a smug look on her face as she continues to sit on my shoulders for some reason and leans down towards my face. I can't even do anything about it either as no one else can see her...
"What?! No smokin'?!" Ontarus starts to complain, but as I'm not in the mood I immediately use the same intimidation powers I used on Aora, glaring down at the fool which immediately makes his eyes widen and for him to fall down to his knees and bow his head down to me.
"OK, so it does still work." I think to myself in relief as Ontarus' blunt falls out of his mouth and on to the tiled floor.
"Now we wait..." I say, trying my best not to sigh as that girl is still nowhere to be seen...
🎇🎇🎇
"...So, Ontarus. I see that you've still got your sword with you, looks nice." I say to keep the two entertained as we've been standing here for TWENTY MORE MINUTES as I stare down at said Commander's waist. Just like a few years ago he still keeps his big blue steel wavy sword wrapped around his hips like a deadly belt.
"Hm? Oh yeah yeah haha, pretty neat huh?" Ontarus says with a quick chuckle as he reaches down to grab the twisted handle of the thing which has a neutral emoji-face thing engraved on it for some reason, and a second later he quickly pulls off and uncurls the twisted metal sword off of his waist without injury. He then holds out the crazy thing in front of him with one hand, and soon after it completely straightens out entirely like it wasn't even bent in the first place.
"Hm... that... is... a... strange... design... doesitevercutyourhips... when... you... wear... it?" Ufisator asks as his time for his neck is sped up and so he tilts it at breakneck speeds, which seems to amuse Aphrodite as her mouth gapes open a bit and she watches the bot- luckily with her not sitting on me anymore.
"Hm? Did I... oh, got you. Nah- well maybe a few scrapes but, I always make sure to keep the wavy parts away from my more important parts ya know what I mean, haha." Ontarus laughs with a smirk as he rubs the underside of the "blade" which is made of a bunch of intersecting dark blue metal waves, making what looks to be like an infinity sign with white edges, just like crashing waves.
"Bahari, isn't that the name of the sword? You really are lucky that you were able to get it way back then..." I say with a little smile at the irony there considering my own powers, until I hear footsteps approaching us from the left of us in the halls, causing me to look towards that direction.
"Ah, Aora. Ya finally came. Just forty minutes late though- just why the hell do y'all women take so long to get ready? I ain't even in the mood for proper greetings with you now..." Ontarus says in an annoyed tone as he looks over to Aora who FINALLY decided to waltz over here I guess.
"I was doing another two sets of training. I showered for one minute then came here immediately." Aora says as she continues to walk towards us with good posture, wearing the standard Hopian Army uniform used for missions, being plain navy blue pants and a t-shirt which shows off her buff arms and that has the Commanders decal on it as well.
"I told you to come right away and you do two more sets... really? We'll discuss any potential punishments during the meeting." I say with a confident tone. Of course I'm lying though, I can't afford to get any of these powerhouses to want to leave the Hopian Army whatsoever.
"If you want your subordinates to listen to you as a superior, a good idea would be to give them something to respect in the first place." That stupid-... Aora says. But I ignore it as I close my eyes and grip the silver handle to the meeting room, opening it and leading the others inside.
🎆🎆🎆
"Hmph, just as uptight as always I see. Just a warnin', no man is EVER gonna like ya if you look that buff. And if you aren't friendly either..." Ontarus says to Aora as he slouches back on his chair, while she's sitting up tall on the opposite side of the long rectangular wooden table we're all sitting at- course I had to make some adjustments for Ufisator though who's just on his knees next to the table.
"..." Aora doesn't respond to him whatsoever though, and examines the room instead, which has a unique and very old school wooden design to it, with the ceiling being made of light brown wooden poles, the walls being made of the same wood as well, and with the floor being made entirely of a dark green flat carpet.
It's a nice change of scenery from all the blue and technology that Hopian normally has.
"Ok. I think we're all ready now. I would like to start this meeting by paying our respects to Commander Erucid." I say as everyone seems to instantly calm down as we look towards the empty chair at the table for the prior Fourth Holiday, and soon after I bow my head down and close my eyes, which everyone else follows me in doing, even Aora.
"Wow, I guess he must have been really important for everyone to do this... cool I guess..." Aphrodite says with no empathy as she continues to sit on my white clothed lap for whatever reason. I'll pay her back for that later, though I can't afford to right now in case she decides to leave me.
We open our eyes at once, with the entire room feeling a lot more professional as a whole now.
"So. First things first. Of course the main reason why we're here is due to Erucid's death and the monster that caused it, but looking even deeper it looks like the corruption of the Hopian Continent is leaking towards the outer islands as a whole from recent reports. Any thoughts on this?" I start off the discussion.
"Agreed- however do know that this amount of crime is not recent. For example, after my troops on Magthera investigated the death of a long time criminal, Aeko, it was found that he wasn't even trying to hide his criminal acts and that the citizens of Magthera knew about what he was doing for years. And so my men went and talked to the Hopian Soliders that were stationed at the island at all times, and when asked about Aeko, their responses were all mixed. After interrogation, it was found that Aeko was bribing those soldiers for years, allowing him to wreak havoc on the island without any repercussions whatsoever. Have you heard about this, Prósopsi?" Aora responds in detail while the other Commanders look towards me with furrowed brows.
"...Yes, I have. That is definitely a problem, and one that could be more widespread than just Magthera. Were all of the suspects captured?" I ask.
"We believe so. Another more recent case was on the island of Birzion, where the ruler of the island himself, Virile Noble, was sending out his own troops to sexually assault women and to kill any men who tried to fight back against his rule. And this was occurring for one year, and nobody could stop him due to the laws of the island, as well as due to Virile never committing the crimes directly himself which kept the Hopian Army away from him." Aora continues.
"Yes, so I've heard. There were never any Hopian Soldiers stationed there to see it happening as the Mayor was meant to be enough protection for it's citizens but... that obviously didn't work out." I say uneasily.
"It... seems... like... the... obvious... issue... istheHopianArmy'snegligance." Ufisator states as he twists his head towards me in slow motion which makes Aphrodite laugh and point at him.
"What are you on?! We all do our jobs just fine, we can't catch every littlr crime is all. What do those people think we are, God's or somethin'? The citizens of Hopian just need to learn how to fight back as well!" Ontarus says as he slams his hands on the table.
"Right- to an extent. I was thinking of doing something pretty drastic to stop this... raise your hands if you guys agree on it. I know it's sad but... I was thinking of changing the Hopian Army's volunteer policy to a conscription policy instead." I interrupt and say with a bit of guilt, as I know first hand how much it sucks to be forced into fighting.
The Commanders think on this for a moment, and a second later Ufisator raises his giant hand. Ontarus does a second after him. The only one who doesn't, is Aora.
"Aora?" I ask, curious as to why a proud fighter like her wouldn't want more troops.
"At face value it may seem logical to simply add more Soliders to our rankings in order for the Hopian Army to notice more crimes occurring around the Territory. However, working for the Hopian Army already gets one a ludicrous amount of benefits which I would think any Hopian citizen would want to receive due to the Territory's poor state. Therefore, it's safe to assume that the people who aren't working for us are already dead set on staying away from combat, whether that be for physical or mental reasons like fear. Forcing these types of people to fight for us would simply be a burden and inefficient, as those who actually want to and are capable of fighting would not be able to receive as much attention during the limited amount of training time Soldiers recieve." Aora explains as she stares right at me.
"Well, it's not like we would take people who literally can't fight at all but... I'll admit you have some good points there. Then tell me, what do you think we SHOULD do about these increasing crimes, Aora?" I ask her as I rub the bottom of chin and Aphrodite rubs my chin as well for some reason as I look at Aora over her head.
"I've heard the rumors of the Hopian Continent being filled with people who are physically incapable of fighting due to... fixable reasons. I believe the government should create mandatory programs that would fix these people, allowing many more people who do want to fight but don't have the body to do so, to join the Hopian Army with an actual passion." Aora explains.
Ontarus starts to shout and spit, "What do you know about Hopian, people are dying out there- and you think you can say anything when ya aren't even allowed to step foot on the damn Hopian Continent! After all, ya aren't even from the Hopian Territory! You're from the land of that other King! You ain't nothing but a filthy-"
"Ontarus!" I shout out which stops him dead in his tracks and surprises Aphrodite, with me not even needing to use my powers here.
"I know you're feeling passionate about this, but this is a formal meeting, so please DO NOT bring up anyone's heritage here. She may be a foreigner, but do remember that two years ago, Aora at 16 years old was the only one who was able to stall out that superpowered intruder during the raid on Vegahold until I arrived. She's already saved plenty of lives working for us." I say with a stern look on my face, which Ontarus grits his teeth and looks away at, with Aora not responding whatsoever and luckily not seeming to be offended.
"...Anyways. That's not a bad idea, Aora. I'll try to propose it to the Hopian Government before I mention the conscription idea. But, after the event that happened all those years ago, I don't know if they could afford to do that though..." I say with a hinting cough.
"...Right, when the Hopian Government sent that giant ass ship up into space with all those people and materials on it, hoping to colonize n' get valuables from that other world in the stars. Course it didn't work though, and the Hopian Government on our world suddenly lost contact with every single person on the ship during it's "interstellar" journey. Isn't that how it went?" Ontarus adds in a serious tone, which causes Aora to look at him with a furrowed brow.
"Yeah, that's right from what I've heard at least, it happened when I was just a little kid after all. Who knows what happened to those people, maybe they just wanted to keep the new world for themselves and ignored the calls on purpose... Anyways. Speaking of you Ontarus, have you called your brother to discuss the ticket to Dalkan like I asked you to?" I ask which makes Ontarus snicker and shake his head.
"Oh sure I tried to call Domino, but he ain't even answered the damn phone once! What a guy, gets himself nice and rich with a Casino and family- and then just leaves his little bro in the dust!" Ontarus huffs as he crosses his arms, with him looking antsy. Can't completely blame Domino for not wanting anything to do with this guy...
"I see. I suppose I'll have to get someone else to call him then, he can't ignore an official call from the Hopian Army. Just remember, the communications with the Dalkan Territory have been going relatively smoothly, however we have no idea who they're going to send here to Hopian as "tourists". Or what our "tourists" who win Domino's government provided ticket to Dalkan will be like. We may have to fight." I say in a serious tone, knowing full well that Dalkan's citizens are probably way stronger than our own.
"The tickets will only be given to those who have no criminal record correct?" Aora asks as she quickly examines her biceps, seeming to be bored as well... maybe? I can never tell what's going on with her.
"Yeah, we have to tell Domino to ensure that which is why we have to call him. Lastly. Former Officer Karia, "King Metallica", and that monster who killed Erucid, Seric. You've encountered them twice now, right?" I ask as I clench my fists- but under the table of course.
"Hmmm? You actually seem kinda sad for once... weird..." Aphrodite says sounding somewhat concerned but mainly curious as she tilts her head back and looks up at my face.
"I have. Speaking of which, before I even arrived at Vegahold and encountered Seric and Karia something else happened that could potentially be far more important than them." Aora says as she closes her eyes.
"Thanks for bringing that up. I was curious about how three of our biggest and most advanced battleships were obliterated in one day with a group of 1000 soldiers, who also died, and a Commander. Care to explain?" I ask in a bit of an angry tone as that's now but another reason for our lack of manpower, which hopefully puts her on the spot to make things more honest.
"Under my command the three ships were investigating the Outer Territory- just about here the thing appeared I recall. I made this on my computer earlier today, look." Aora says as she takes a piece of folded paper out of her pant pocket, placing it down on the table for all four of us to see as she points at something on it.
"It's sideways... and oh, I see. So?" I respond with a curious look as I look at the makeshift map.
"Suddenly, a ginormous humanoid creature wearing a crown appeared from the depths at that red mark. One that may have been close to the height of the pillar Vega. With it's sheer size and swiftness it instantly decimated our ships with one swipe of the massive glowing trident it was holding, killing all of the soldiers on board instantly. As I've trained vigorously my whole life, I was able to... survive the attack, and the monster fled for, whatever reason. However. I do have a theory about this. As each of the Five Territory's are said to be the prior homes of the Five Kings, what if there was actually a sixth King, one who was banished by his brothers and never talked about because of that? The crown made me think of this, as well as the creature not being in any Territory." Aora explains in depth, which makes my eyes open wide for a split second until I calm myself down using Aphrodite's powers.
"Ha. Hahaha. HAHAHAHAHAHAHA!" I start laughing at loud, and Ontarus does as well.
"Ha... Ha... hahahahahahahahahhahahahahahahhhahahahahhaha." Ufisator trys to laugh as well but he still just sounds monotone.
We keep on laughing. Of course we do. We have to, it's the only way...
"Aora- forgive me for the informality, but, please try not to base your entire claim on a tale that became a Religion." I say as I calm down a bit, both on the outside and the inside more importantly.
"In a world where anyone can obtain a supernatural ability, you truly think something like the Five Kings being real is impossible? That's your call I suppose. But if this Territory falls due to that creature, the one who will be at entirely at fault for not protecting his people will be you and you alone." Aora says coldly and undettered which pierces right through me.
"OK, as your story still seems to be mixed up we'll leave that for a bit. Now then, I've heard that you have had quite the past with those three rising criminals Aora?" I luckily find a way to brush off the topic.
"Yes. More importantly, it seems like the tracker and recorder that was implanted inside of Karia's cybernetics was removed. However, we do know that those three are headed to Hopian Continent now which was part of our plan." Aora explains.
"That... is... unfortunate... howdoyouknowthetrackerwas... removed...?" Ufisator finally speaks up.
"I heard Karia screaming at one point, as well as their robot companion commenting on "ripping it out" and laughing crazily. Plus, the trackers location hasn't moved for about 8 hours now as it lies in the middle of the Hopian Sea." Aora explains as she looks up and towards the massive Ufisator.
"Oh. Yeah, that is unfortunate. The plan will still work though, those three will get whittled down by either the Hopian Soldiers or bounty hunters in the Hopian Continent who are far more disposable than us four until they can't take it anymore or just get caught. Wait. Do you know the location of the tracker right now, or can you access it somehow?" I ask as I have to hold back a vengeful smile.
"I do. They're far gone from that location and across the seas from where we are right now, but if you want it regardless..." Aora asks with a confused look on her face as she reaches into her other pocket and takes out her phone.
After tapping some stuff on her screen she starts to say, "Latitude 40.712776, Longitude -74.005974."
"Got it. I think I'll take a little look outside then..." I say as I get up from my chair and cause a sleeping Aphrodite to fall off of me, confidentially walking towards one of the closed secured wooden windows of the meeting room. I then open it, allowing fresh air from the sunny outdoors to pour through the electric field on the outer side of the empty "window", with the really nice view of the seemingly infinite and calm ocean being in view a bit down below us.
"Now then... let's take a look." I say, and Aphrodite luckily seems to catch my drift as she gets up from the floor with a yawn, slowly walking towards me.
"You owe me another two sets of foot massages for this AND for the fall, by the way." Aphrodite says grumpily as she grips my shoulder, and suddenly my eyes start tingling, until her power of Theia flows through me and my sight starts to zoom across the entire Hopian Sea, almost like I'm leaving my body- or just have a crazy good telescope.
Finally, Aphrodite stops helping me aim my sight after I can see the glowing tracker floating in the ocean super far away from here, as I'm at least able to keep my powers consistent after a bit of help.
"Those three will have a shocking hell to deal with if they cross me..." I say in a confident tone to hint Aphrodite at what I'm going to do next, with my body being completely filled with anger for Erucid as I open both of my palms, lowering my right hand and starting to raise it up again, and at the same time I raise up my left hand to the sky.
Aphrodite continues to grip me which helps my aim, and right after I lower and raise both of my hands I clap them together.
I then zoom back out to my normal sight at miles per second speeds, seeing the absolutely ginormous ghostly purple lightning bolt slamming into the sea that I just summoned from miles away under the now cloudy skies right here in Vegastrat.
*BO-BOOOOOOOOOOOOOM!*
*SCRRRRRRRRRRRRRRREEECH!*
The sound wave finally hits us along with chilling gust of winds literally from the underworld, with my Godly powers sounding like a freaking nuke, but having the screams of the dead sound to it as well due to my powers of Hades which scares the crap out of Ontarus and Ufisator, with even Aora standing up to witness what just happened.
"That was a warning, to Seric, Karia and King Metallica- 8 hours is not nearly long enough to travel to not see or hear that. No innocents were hurt from that attack, of course. Because I'm the strongest of all." I say with utter pride as I can't help but smile a bit at how sick that was.
A/N: More information about the Hopian Territory's past has finally been revealed! And it turns out that Prósopsi really can back up his title!
I hope you guys consider voting or commenting if you enjoyed, and see you next week as the story of the trio continues!
