18: Taking Him Back

There were now three days until Christmas.

A few days ago Kristoff gave the five some valuable information about Pitch. Apparently he planned on draining Rapunzel, Jack, and Elsa's powers in order to bring darkness to the world. If anyone were to ask Jack how their powers would help him accomplish that, he would say that he had no idea...because he doesn't.

"Jack?" Her voice voice full of concern. "Jack, please, I know you're here somewhere."

He looked down from his perch in the toy room. He usually came here when he needed to think, always sitting on the beams that support the ceiling...that happen to be sixty feet above the ground.

"Up here."

Elsa looked up, her eyes meeting his. "How exactly do you expect me to get up there?"

He couldn't help but chuckle at her. "You control ice, Your Majesty, I'm sure you can figure out something."

Jack was almost positive he could feel her rolling her eyes. But she made a staircase of ice anyways, and slowly walks up to him. "You really are a gentleman aren't you?" Elsa sat next to him on the beam and waved her hand, melting the staircase.

"Yes I am."

She laughed, her beautiful bell-like laugh.

They stayed silent for a while, just enjoying each other's company. He reached for her hand as she rested her head on his shoulder. They watched as the yetis worked quickly to rebuild all of the toys that were destroyed. They were almost done, even though they'd only been working for a few days.

Elsa sighed. It wasn’t one of those types of sighs that he could just forget about either...she was deep in thought, and was almost begging him to ask her what's on her mind.

He gave in, "What's wrong, Elsa?" Jack studied her face, tears started forming in her eyes. Sometimes she was the strongest person in the world, other times she could be so fragile that it seems as if a feather would break her.

"Jack, I'm going to die. I know that everyone dies eventually, but I can't leave Anna. She--well--you were right, I need Anna." Her tears fell. "And what if, when I die to become a guardian, she doesn't believe in me? She was the only one that kept me going for so long. So what happens to me if--" She was sobbing now.

Jack wrapped his arms around her and held her tightly. "Elsa," he whispered. "Anna will always believe in you and you know it. Anna is the fourth most stubborn person I have ever met. You told me about everything that happened this summer, so I don't believe for one second that she would ever stop believing in you."

"But how can you be so sure?"

"I thought I just told you." He teaseed. "But I also have met Anna. In fact, if I recall correctly, I spent three and a half months cramped in a castle with her."

Elsa giggled a bit, "And what do you mean by 'fourth most stubborn'?"

He grinned, "Well Red's number one. Then there's you. Then me. And then Anna."

"What about Hiccup?" She suggests, "He's pretty stubborn too."

Jack looked down at her smiling tear stained face. "I think he's a solid fifth...either that or he's tied with Anna."

"I think they're tied." Elsa whispered quietly.

He gazed down at her face, she was no longer smiling...her eyes were almost pleading. Jack leaned in closer, Elsa closing her eyes. He put his hand on her neck, drawing her closer to him. And just as he felt her cold breath on his--

"Oi! Frosties! Time ta go back ta Arendelle!" Merida shouted from below. Their heads snap down to look at Merida.

Jack sighed, thanks Red.

He grabbed his staff and Elsa by her waist then hopped off the beam. Elsa's arms wrapped around his neck. They landed with a soft thud on the ground, frost immediately spreading beneath them. Jack let go of Elsa's waist and she room her arms away from his neck.

"Remind me why we're going to Arendelle?"

"We're taking him back. It's been four days, I'm sure Anna's in full panic mode by now." Elsa answered.

Astrid walked up to them. "The dragon's are packed. Everyone else is ready to go."

"Ah get it." Merida frowned, "We're waiting on deese two."

"We're ready to go." Jack said smugly.

After short goodbyes to North and the others, they were on their way to Arendelle. Jack was carrying Elsa again. Merida and Kristoff were riding on Toothless with Hiccup--who seems very uncomfortable. And Rapunzel was gidily riding with Astrid.

Jack looked at Elsa in his arms, she seemed tired. "You can go to sleep, Snowflake. I'll wake you up when we're close."

"Okay, thank you." She closes her eyes and snuggled closer to his chest. He smiled at the beautiful sleeping Elsa. She looked so much younger when she was asleep. Oh Elsa...what am I going to do with you?

They arrive at the palace and Anna came running out of the gates. Her braids were flapping behind her. She was wearing a light yellow dress that went to her shins, and had long white sleeves; as well as light brown boots and a white cloak "Kristoff!" She screamed joyfully.

"Oh, Anna!" Kristoff leaped off Toothless and bounded over to Anna. Anna was laughing and crying at the same time. "It's okay, Anna. I'm here."

Jack set Elsa down on her feet and they happily stared at the scene. Anna and Kristoff were embracing while Astrid watched them, thoughtfully. A few feet away Merida and Hiccup were having a hushed conversation, yet they appeared to be angry at each other...again. But Jack found it strange that they were being so quiet, usually they would be screaming at the top of their lungs.

Anna and Kristoff pulled away from their embrace. "Anna, I told Elsa. I'm sorry, but I was...um..." Kristoff stopped there.

"You were what?" Anna asked, curiosity evident in her tone.

"Uh it's not important right now." She was too happy to notice that there was something he isn't telling her. Jack assumed he didn't want to tell her that he almost died, so that she didn't worry.

Elsa walked over to them so Jack followed.

"Thank you so much, Elsa!" Anna hugged Elsa tightly, "And you too Jack." Anna let go of Elsa and wrapped her arms around his neck, squeezing him, "Be good to her." Then she let go. Does she think...?"

"What?"

"You heard me, Jack." She smirked.

"Anna I'm so glad you're getting married. Why didn't you tell me?" Elsa unknowingly interrupted.

Anna stared at her sister for a moment with wide eyes. Then she waved her arms wildly, "Well after the whole Hans-trying-to-kill-both-of-us thing I thought that maybe I should wait a little while to tell you. I mean--I know that I've known Kristoff for a few months now, but I didn't know what you would say or if you would get angry again or--"

"Anna, it's fine. I'm happy for you. I know that you love Kristoff, and I know that he loves and would never let anything happen to you."

Anna grinned and hugs her sister again, "Thank you Elsa!"

"C-can we g-go inside? I'm freez-zing." Rapunzel was shivering and rubbing her arms.

Jack almost forgot that it was winter in Arendelle. He only now noticed the snow that he created a week ago, was starting to melt. He touched the staff to the ground, thinking about snow. Not even seconds later, heavy snow starts falling from the sky.

Everyone turns to look at him. "Jack!" They all scolded.

"What?" He shrugged. "Arendelle needed more snow."
