Ch. 7 Don't hurt her!
Elizabeth walked down the hallway of the Wardrobe. She was amazed that the Wardrobe was so deep with so much clothing from summer to winter. She stopped walking when she saw tree branches covered with snow, causing her to grab a warm long periwinkle blue hooded coat. She puts it on and buttons it to keep herself warm.
She looked forward and saw a lamp post in a snowy forest. She walks out and approaches the lamppost, studying it curiously.
' I have to remember this lamp post, so I know where to go back,' She internally speaks.
She looked at her surroundings, admiring the beauty of the snowy forest, thinking that Narnia was currently in the Winter season.
" Beautiful," She whispered, watching air come out of her mouth due to the cold temperature.
She begins to walk away from the lamppost and into the surrounding forest, curious about the world Professor Kirke told her about.
" So this is Narnia," She smiled while walking in the forest, admiring the snowy nature.
Her eyes blinked when she saw animals poking their heads out from their homes in the trees and looking at her curiously.
" Hello," She greeted the surrounding animals with a wave.
A white-fur male Weasel poked its head from its home and started to approach Elizabeth.
Elizabeth crouched and held her right hand out to the male Weasel. Her gaze softened, having a fondness for animals.
The male Weasel looked at Elizabeth curiously and sniffed her right hand.
" My name is Elizabeth. What is your name?" Elizabeth asked.
The male Weasel lifted its head and stood on its two paws.
" Hello, Elizabeth. My name is Bodhi," The Weasel greeted.
Elizabeth's eyebrow rose, and her eyes widened when she heard the male Weasel introduce themselves.
" You can talk!" She looked at Bodhi in awe.
Bodhi nodded.
" Everyone in Narnia can talk—the people, animals, flowers, trees, rocks, the ocean life, and those that live in the air," He explained.
Elizabeth looked amazed to hear that everyone and everything in Narnia can talk and understand one another.
" You are not from here. I can see," Bodhi adorably tilts his head.
" That is correct," Elizabeth blushed, looking embarrassed.
Bodhi looked at his surroundings warily.
" What's wrong?" Elizabeth asked, looking concerned.
" She has eyes everywhere. I must take you to them," Bodhi sniffed.
" She? Are you talking about-" Elizabeth looked at her surroundings.
"-The White Witch?" She asked.
Bodhi nodded.
" And who do you plan to take me to?" Elizabeth looked at Bodhi curiously.
" My friends, Tumnus and Mr. Beaver. They told me and others that they expect a Daughter of Eve to arrive at Narnia. They didn't say when but if someone finds a Daughter of Eve to take her to them," Bodhi explained.
" I see," Elizabeth nodded and hummed in response.
" Can you take me to Tumnus and Mr. Beaver?" She asked, wanting to meet them and wonder why they were expecting her to arrive at Narnia.
" Yes! I know where Tumnus live," Bodhi started to run on the snow. " Follow me!" He motioned her to follow him.
" Coming," Elizabeth walks behind Bodhi, curious to meet Tumnus and Mr. Beaver.
Several minutes later, the two arrived at a cave with a door. Bodhi looked at his surroundings while Elizabeth knocked on the door with the male Weasel's encouragement.
Stomping sounds grabbed Elizabeth and Bodhi's attention. They watched the door open slightly, revealing a young adult male Faun with wavy brown hair and deep blue eyes, wearing a red scarf around his neck.
Elizabeth's eyes intently stared at Tumnus' eyes.
" Hello," Elizabeth greeted.
Tumnus' eyebrows rose, and his eyes widened when he saw the young woman from his Vision standing before him. He opened the door fully, ushered Elizabeth and Bodhi into his home, looked at his surroundings warily, and closed the door.
" Hello! It is an honor to meet a Daughter of Eve," Tumnus greeted while looking at Elizabeth nervously since he was in awe of seeing a genuine human in his home.
Elizabeth figured that since she was a human, Adam and Eve were considered ancestors of human society in some religions.
" My name is Elizabeth Pevensie. What is your name?" She introduced herself while asking for Tumnus' name to know more about him.
" My name is Tumnus," Tumnus responded.
" I got told that you and a Mr. Beaver expected me?" Elizabeth asked while glancing at Bodhi.
" That is-That is correct. Sadly, Mr. Beaver is at his home. He lives far from me," Tumnus looked at Elizabeth worryingly.
" You seem tense. Everything alright," Elizabeth looked at Tumnus worryingly.
" It's the White Witch," Tumnus frowned.
" Mr. Beaver and I managed to escape from her and her followers after we met with His Majesty, Aslan," He looks at Elizabeth.
" Aslan," Elizabeth whispered, her whole body shivering, and she felt goosebumps on her arms at the mention of his name.
" He rules all of Narnia. Lately, he has been at War against the White Witch, who wants to destroy him and become Empress of Narnia," Tumnus explained.
Elizabeth hummed, remembering what Professor Kirke told her of the history of Narnia's Creation and how the White Witch came to be.
" And I-I foresaw you coming to Narnia," Tumnus looked at Elizabeth worryingly.
Elizabeth's eyes blinked, looking at Tumnus with mixed emotions.
" I never expected to see you so soon. In my Vision, you were with another Daughter of Eve," Tumnus recalled.
" Who was this other Daughter of Eve?" Elizabeth asked, wondering if she returned to Narnia with Lucy or Susan.
" She called you Elizabeth first and then Lizzie," Tumnus remembered.
' I see! I came back with Lucy. Of course, I would have introduced this world to Lucy out of the rest of my siblings since she would want to see what Narnia looked like, and she would believe the words I tell her about Narnia,' Elizabeth internally speaks.
" That would be my youngest sister, Lucy," Elizabeth smiled.
" Lucy?" Tumnus stared.
" Yes. The name of that Daughter of Eve you said you saw with me," Elizabeth responded.
" Speaking of Lucy. I should get back. I do not know the time frame from here to my home world," She looked worried.
" I shall escort you. His Majesty would not like it if something were to happen to you under my watch," Tumnus looked at Elizabeth worryingly.
Elizabeth hummed, curious to meet Aslan.
" Is there a way to meet him?" She asked.
" You can. But, His Majesty travels to certain parts of Narnia so the White Witch won't find him," Tumnus explained.
" I see," Elizabeth nodded in response.
" Let's get going. Bodhi, come with us," Tumnus glanced at Bodhi.
Bodhi nodded.
Tumnus walks towards the door and opens it. He poked his head and looked at his surroundings warily, not seeing anything suspicious. He stepped out and helped Elizabeth out of the house, with Bodhi following her.
On their way to the lamppost, Elizabeth and Tumnus decided to get to know one another. Elizabeth was surprised to learn that Tumnus is the Royal Advisor of Aslan and is one of Narnia's Seers. She is in awe when she knows the male Faun sees his visions when he plays his flute.
" How long have the White Witch and Aslan been in War with one another?" Elizabeth asked while walking between Tumnus and Bodhi.
" For 900 years," Tumnus responded while looking at his surroundings warily, thinking they were being followed.
Bodhi stopped walking, which Tumnus and Elizabeth noticed.
" Bodhi?" Elizabeth stared.
Bodhi hissed when he smelt something sinister heading in his and his companions' directions.
" We must get going! Someone or something is following us fast," He warned.
Tumnus' eyebrow rose, and his eyes widened when he heard someone or something heading in their direction.
" It must be one of the White Witch's followers. Lady Elizabeth, you must get out of Narnia and back to your world quickly! I cannot risk a follower of that dreadful woman getting their hands on you. His Majesty would kill me if something were to happen to you," Tumnus grabbed Elizabeth's hand and started to run with her.
Bodhi ran and jumped onto Elizabeth's shoulder, getting tensed, knowing someone or something was following them.
A howling sound grabs the trio's attention, causing one to look at the other frantically.
" Maugrim!" Tumnus and Bodhi shouted, scared.
Elizabeth looked worried when she heard the scared voices of Tumnus and Bodhi.
" Who is he?" She asked.
" Maugrim is the Captain of the White Witch's Secret Police," Bodhi explained.
" He is also a very loyal follower of hers, known for his cruelty and viciousness to the other Narnians," Tumnus commented while running.
Elizabeth paled, getting scared. She felt guilty that Tumnus and Bodhi are risking their lives because of her.
Bodhi's ears twitched when he heard something spinning in their direction. He looked and saw an axe heading in their path. He bites Elizabeth's hood, pulls it down, and jumps, causing her to fall.
Elizabeth falls, and since she holds Tumnus' hand, he drops with her on the snowy ground.
Bodhi watched the axe fly past them to a tree, watching some of the snow on the leaves fall.
Tumnus lifts his head and pales when he sees the familiar axe on the tree.
" Otmin," Tears welled up in Tumnus' eyes, scared for Elizabeth's life.
Elizabeth saw Tumnus scared for his life. She glanced at Bodhi, asking him who Otmin was.
" Otmin is the White Witch's General. He commands her Army for her," Bodhi responded.
Stomping sounds grabbed the trio's attention. Elizabeth looked back and saw a massive male Minotaur with a pack of wolves following him.
" What do we have here?" Maugrim growled while eyeing the trio.
Tumnus wrapped his arm around Elizabeth protectively. Even though he is scared, he promises Aslan he will protect her.
Otmin grabs his axe from the tree and turns to the others.
" I miss," He grunted.
" You have bad aim, my friend," Maugrim chuckled darkly.
Otmin glares at Maugrim and looks at the trio on the snowy ground. He noticed Tumnus glaring at him with tears in his eyes while holding Elizabeth protectively.
" Aslan's Royal Advisor," Otmin recognized Tumnus.
" What is someone like you being away from your precious Emperor?" Maugrim asked.
Bodhi hid under Elizabeth's hood, eyeing Otmin and Maugrim warily.
" And who is this?" Otmin asked, grabbing Elizabeth by the leg and dragging her away from Tumnus.
Bodhi clings to Elizabeth's hood.
" Ahh!" Elizabeth screamed when she got dragged by Otmin.
" Lady Elizabeth!" Tumnus shouted.
He was about to stand, but Maugrim immediately pinned him down, causing his Wolf pack to circle them and growl.
Otmin briefly lets go of Elizabeth's leg when they are away from the others.
Elizabeth turned to face Otmin, staring at him with mixed emotions.
" Lady Elizabeth? Never heard of you," Otmin eyed Elizabeth.
" Have you heard of a Lady Elizabeth before, Maugrim?" He asked while picking Elizabeth up by the waist.
" Let go of me!" Elizabeth shouted, looking scared.
" Never heard of her," Maugrim glanced at Otmin and Elizabeth while having Tumnus pinned.
" Don't hurt her!" Tumnus plead.
Bodhi hissed at Otmin and jumped from Elizabeth's hood onto the minotaur's face, causing him to drop Elizabeth.
" Run! Lady Elizabeth! Run and don't look back!" Tumnus shouted.
Elizabeth stands and runs when she sees that Bodhi is busy handling Otmin for her.
" Get her!" Maugrim barked at his pack mates when he saw Elizabeth run.
Elizabeth runs, hearing growls, bark, and howls behind her.
Her heart beats frantically, unknowingly harmonizing with Aslan's, who was in his Lion form, heading in her direction with his loyal followers following him.
Elizabeth reached the edge of a snowy hill. She looked and saw how high she was. She turned and saw the wolf pack surrounding her.
" Don't worry," The first Wolf spoke.
" We won't bite," The second Wolf spoke afterward.
" If you come with us to Empress Jadis, you will be safe," The third Wolf reassured.
The fourth Wolf snarled, ready to kill her if necessary.
Elizabeth glanced at the edge of the snowy hill. She didn't know why, but something in her heart told her to jump and be safe.
She looked at the four wolves and started to walk backward.
" I would rather die than go to that Evil Witch!" She shouted.
The wolves were about to pounce on Elizabeth, ready to kill her, but stopped when they saw her fall.
Time felt slow for Elizabeth as she falls.
' I cannot believe it. I am going to die,' Elizabeth internally speaks.
' Call for him. He shall save you.' A feminine voice internally spoke to Elizabeth.
Elizabeth held her hand out as she fell to her death.
" Aslan!" She screams with tears falling from her eyes.
A Lion-Like roar startled the four Wolves, and they ran away, remembering Maugrim's orders to flee if Aslan was near.
Elizabeth closed her eyes, ready to feel immense pain or immediate death.
Trees on top of the hill awakened, causing their roots to shoot out, making holes, and catching Elizabeth under Aslan's command.
The trees' roots cushioned Elizabeth, wrapping themselves around her waist. The roots passed her to the snowy hill's edge one by one.
Footsteps approached the snowy hill's edge, revealing Aslan in his human form.
" Thank you for saving her," Aslan thanked the surrounding trees when he saw the unconscious Elizabeth.
The trees' roots lifted Elizabeth to Aslan.
Aslan takes Elizabeth into his arms and stares at her with mixed emotions.
His golden Lion-like eyes studied Elizabeth.
He looked relieved to see that Elizabeth wasn't physically injured. He held her tightly, protecting her from the cold. He turns and sees Oreius, Tumnus, Bodhi, and his loyal followers.
" We were able to kill Otmin, but Maugrim escaped," Oreius informed while escorting Aslan, holding an unconscious Elizabeth, to the lamppost, which will take her back to Earth.
Aslan nodded in response.
He knew when Maugrim reached the White Witch. She will soon learn of Elizabeth.
" Tumnus. Bodhi. I want to thank you for protecting her when you two can," He thanked Tumnus and Bodhi.
Bodhi, who was on Tumnus' shoulder, nodded.
Tumnus nodded, feeling guilty but glad that Aslan wasn't upset with him.
" Everyone. Head to a secure location. I shall notify you when I return," Aslan saw a familiar lamppost that an old friend had built as a doorway between Narnia and the mortal world.
" Where are you going?" Oreius asked as he and the others stopped walking.
" To see an old friend," Aslan responded as he continued to walk with an unconscious Elizabeth in his arms.
