I forgot how long you have to go with out running shoes! I still have to walk everywhere! :(

I walk forward, knowing my rival is about to come up and battle me, when i suddenly stop and think. I know my rival has a level 7+ pidgey or rattata and a lv 8+ bulbasaur. i look at my team. Deluge, the sqirtle, level 12 and bashful nature. And then mankey level 2 with naive nature. I'm pretty happy with bashful on deluge. I want it to be versatile. ( if you don't know bashful grows all the pokemons stats the same) I'm also happy with naive on mankey. Its sp defense goes down, but speed goes up. That means that i definitely won't be able to take a sp hit with it, but I'm probably going to outspeed every pokemon in the game. Its ability is not the one I'd prefer. I wanted anger point and it has vital spirit. But this is a nuzzlock and I can't be picky. Anyways, I decide that my team isint ready. I train up sqirtle to level 15, getting water gun on it, and train up mankey to level 10, learning low kick. I walk onward confidently now, knowing I can take Gary on. Sure enough, he runs up and challenges me. I have mankey in the first slot. He sends out pidgey level 9. Whoa. Was not expecting him to have such a high level already. I lead with low kick, just to see what it does. Pidgey hardly feels anything, then hits me for almost half damage with tackle. I hurriedly switch out to sqirtle, wanting to save mankey. Pidgey uses tackle, and barely does anything to my tanky sqirtle. I smile and drown it with waster gun. Pidgey gets one more tackle in before its KOd. Bulbasaur lv 9 is sent out next. Thank goodness, I think; I thought it was going to be a higher level. I proceed to murder it with tackle after tackle. My rival leaves. I explore the rest of the route, where the gates to the pokemon league are, but of course I'm not allowed in due to my small number of badges. I head back to viridian city.
