I'm walking out of the lab, and I'm immediately challenged by Gary. Its a relatively fair battle: he's picked a bulbasaur, lv 5, and I have a sqirtle, lv 5. We tackle each other a few times, then I get a critical hit and the battles decided. If I had lost i would had to start all over, possibly getting the hardest starter to play through with, charmander, so I'm glad I won this one.
After winning I immediately walk ( i don't have running shoes yet XD) to route 1, and spend a while raising my sqirtle to level 12 by retreating back to my moms when I was hurt anywhere below half. I really did not want to die now. The first pokemon on the route was pidgey, but i couldent catch it because I did not have any pokeballs. I head onto viridian city after achieving level 12, and Deluge learns bubble and withdraw. In viridian i heal Deluge, recieve a parcel for oak and go back to pallet to return it to him. When I do so, Gary and I receive the pokedex and 5 pokeballs. I head back to viridian and head west torwards the pokemon leauge, because from past experience i know my rival wants to battle on the route there and I can also get my first pokemon caught there. I enter the grass, and its a manky. I'm pretty satisfied. I could have encountered a rattata, but those can be caught in many other places, and it could have been spearow, but I will always have a good chance to capture another flying type.
