Stuck in The Past
Skizz's Perspective-
Wherever you walk in this school, you'll see people holding hands in the hallway.
You'll almost always have the feeling of being alone.
But that's just how this cold life is.
I shuddered as I walked into the gym, accidentally running into someone.
"Woah- sorry." The guy said, walking past me, "I gotta get to the auditorium, watch where you're going next time."
He jogged off.
I blinked, a bit stunned.
I walked into the locker room and saw a lanyard and ID on the floor.
I picked it up and saw that the picture looked like the guy I just ran into. The same intimidating glance, white hair, and black mask.
I showed it to the coach, and he told me to go return it, telling me that the kid had theatre right now in the auditorium.
I walked around the school campus, trying to find the auditorium.
I eventually found it and stumbled in, seeing the class of what looked to be 50 students taking attendance.
One of the teachers saw me and she raised an eyebrow.
"What are you doing here? Are you in this class?"
"U-uh, no I have the ID for umm..." I glanced down at the name on the ID, "Etho?"
The kid who I ran into earlier turned around in his chair.
We made eye contact, and I blushed a bit.
He walked over to me, and I handed him his lanyard.
"H-here."
Our hands gently brushed up against each other and I blushed a deeper shade of red.
"Thanks." Etho said, nodding at me as he put on his lanyard.
"Y-yeah."
"See you later I guess." He turned and walked back to his seat, and I nodded.
"Yeah, see you later."
-
Later.
The word rang in Skizz's head as he and Impulse sat with each other in his room.
He sniffed and wiped his eyes as he slowly calmed down. Impulse looked concerned.
"I- I'm sorry, I'm trying to be happy for you guys, it's just hard." Skizz said quietly.
"Yeah, I understand." Impulse gently rubbed Skizz's back.
"I'm trying so hard, and I keep failing. I can't just forget him."
"He was a big part of your life; it's gonna be hard to forget him just like that." Impulse snapped to emphasize his point.
Skizz shrugged.
"How long have you been missing him?"
"A couple weeks."
"Skizz, why didn't you tell me?"
"I didn't want you to worry."
"Is that why you haven't come over?"
Skizz sighed, "Yeah. I invited you over to try and get over him."
"It's not gonna be that easy."
"Sadly."
"Do you...wanna talk about what you miss?"
Skizz hesitates and then nods.
-
It was unbelievable that I had scored a date with Etho.
I was so excited yet super nervous. I was sure I would mess something up.
What if I said something weird? What if I messed something up? That would be the worst.
I jumped as I heard someone knock on the door.
I got up and opened the door, smiling as I saw Etho.
"Hey!" I said, letting him in.
My dog Kevin ran over and sniffed Etho.
Etho chuckled and pet Kevin.
"This is the dog you told me about? The one with like, 20 names?"
"It's only seven!! It's Kevin Bubbles Malone Refrigerator Jimmy Mad-Eye Dugan, or Kevin for short." Skizz said quickly.
Etho raised an eyebrow and Skizz laughed.
"So his name's Kevin?" Etho asked.
"Yes." Skizz said simply and Etho nodded slowly.
"Got it."
Skizz smiled and they sat on the couch to watch a movie.
-
"Hey, wanna take Kevin on a walk with me?" Skizz asked after the movie finished.
Kevin had been begging to go outside for the past 10 minutes and Skizz was getting tired of it.
Etho shrugged, "Sure!"
They got up and Skizz helped put on Kevin's leash.
Skizz noticed gray clouds gathering outside and grabbed an umbrella.
He and Etho walked outside, Kevin leading them, and they chatted as they held hands and walked down the street together.
It slowly started to rain and Skizz opened the umbrella.
He stood close to Etho, who wrapped his arm around him.
Skizz blushed and Etho smiled at him.
Skizz smiled and looked away.
The gentle pitter patter of the rain drops hit the umbrella, and Kevin shook his body, trying to get the water off him.
Skizz chuckled, "Come on, Kevin. We can walk home."
Skizz turned around but Etho stopped him.
"Hm? What?" Skizz asked, tilting his head.
Etho leaned in and gently wiped a raindrop off of Skizz's cheek.
Skizz blushed and he slowly kissed Etho.
-
Skizz fidgeted with the ring on his finger.
"I don't even know why I still wear it." He said shakily, "Not like it matters anymore."
"Well, it means a lot to you, so it makes sense why you still have it." Impulse said gently.
Skizz shrugged and got up, taking off his ring and putting it in the drawer of his nightstand.
"Come on, Bdubs and Maxie are probably wondering where we are." He said, walking to the door.
"You seriously don't wanna talk about how you feel about...what happened with Etho?" Impulse asked, concerned.
"I'm good, thanks. I got it all out." Skizz lied before walking out.
