"Grandpa, tell us the story of how it began."

It is said, that the first of us, came to be many millennia ago. The Mountain of Fire, is said to be the birthplace of The Five. Legend has it, that a star fell from heaven with a purple tail. The impact of the star broke through the peak or the mountain and buried itself so far into the ground that the planet shook for days. Steam and gas emitted from the crater along with the molten hot rock and metal that make up the core of our world. Hardarius, was the first to emerge from the lava as it began to cool, soon after Jantiva, would follow, with Gradius, Rouqet, and Tivuatu and thus The Five, The Fire Born as they would come to be called came to exist.

Hardarius, was the strongest of The Five and thus came to lead. He was tall, with skin of gray shale, very smooth but jaggedly cut. His eyes were a rusty orange.

Jantiva, was just. She was fair and unbiased in all her decisions. Her skin was of granite of golden brown, flecked with white and silver. Her eyes of cobalt blue were just as hard as her exterior.

Gradius, was the wisest of them all. He was the first to form the language we use today in both its written and spoken form. His skin was porous and dark maroon. His eyes black as coal.

Rouqet, was an inventor. She loved to explore how and why things happened. She was as creative as they come. Her skin was smooth white marble with veins of black. Her eyes were yellow as the sun and burnt just as bright.

Tivuatu, was beautiful, some say the fairest of them all. She was skilled in the art of combat. She had skin of the shiniest black obsidian, it was as smooth as glass. Her emerald eyes could put anyone foolish enough to stare into them under her spell which often ended in their demise.

It was not long before Hardarius and Jantiva fell in love. A short year later a son was born, Egrin, of the First Brood. Gradius and Rouqet would, soon give birth to the twins Falou and Malou. The population of Therine swelled over the next few years and soon a great city was built.

The first Council of Stone was formed in the tenth year after the star fall. It consisted of The Five and would become the ruling body we know and love today. The Laws of Fire that we live by were established by the end of that year.

1. No one shall violate the sanctity of an others life

2. All voices no matter their lot have the right to be heard

3. No one shall take from others without the right to do so

4. All bodies have the right to a fair and just trial

5. The Council of Stone shall serve the citizens of Therine in all capacities as the governing body. Members will serve for the duration of their lifetime. Unless they choose to step down. At which time a successor will be named and voted upon by the populace.

Guilds were formed to train young Stoneharts in the vocation of their choosing.

The Sages were founded by Gradius. They were the historians and began to keep the records of time. They developed a calendar based on the cycles of the moons. They tracked weather patterns and knew the best time to plant and harvest.

The Hunters were headed by Tivuatu. Initiates were trained to fight in hand to hand combat. As new weapons were invented by the Architects they became proficient in the use of blades, bows, and hammers.

In addition to building weapons the Architects invented many tools and helped the city thrive. Irrigation systems and aqueducts to bring fresh water were among the greatest. Headed by Rouqet the guild flourished with new ideas and bright minds.

The twins were all about trade and commerce. It was Falou that invented the currency of the realm, while her brother Malou established many of the trade regulations that we follow today. Together they established the first market in town with booths set up to sell various goods with a centralized market house where all fees were paid and goods were inspected.

Jantiva established the Watchmen a group that was to uphold the laws and settle disputes in a peaceful manner. She also presided over the Grand Court and assigned punishments that ranged from fines to death depending on the severity of the transgression.

Ergin was named the first Priest of the Fire organizing the religion and sacred traditions that have become our way of life. With the help of Gradius and the Sages, he established rituals that would occur annually.

For a full century the Stoneharts increased in population and expanded their boundaries creating new cities. They were the sole occupants of the world until that fateful day when another star fell from the sky. The light cast off by the star was and icy blue, illuminating the night sky many stared in awe at the spectacle. No one had ever seen anything like it. Some were overjoyed by the site and began to dance and sing. Others were curious enough to follow the star's decent. The star hurdled toward the great sea and crashed down with such force that the water shot up a full mile into the air, but the water never came back down. It froze in the air forming a great spire the extended all the way to the seabed where the core of the star lay. From that day forward life for the Stoneharts would never be the same.
