The Warriors of Kyoshi
Lynn couldn't help but smirk as Sokka stared at the map. "You two have no idea where we're going, do you?"
Aang shrugged. "I know it's near water."
Sokka glanced around at the vast ocean. "I guess we're getting close then."
Lynn leaned closer to Sokka. "Want to know a secret? I do know where we're going."
He tossed her a bewildered look. "Then why aren't you the navigator?"
Lynn carefully stroked the feathers of her sleeping cat owl. "Letting Aang navigate is keeping the fire nation off our trail. We probably look like experts at evasive maneuvering right about now."
Sokka nodded. "I do like being an expert at stuff."
Finally, they arrived at their destination: Kyoshi island. Aang was the first to enter the water. Lynn let out a slight laugh as she folded Zuko's clothes up and set them down. "Wait for me!"
Sokka glanced at his sister and made a 'cucu' motion with one hand as Lynn used water bending to propel herself through the water so she could catch up. They both disappeared for a moment before reappearing, this time attached to giant koi fish.
They disappeared under the water again and Lynn urged her fish to go faster. As she resurfaced, her eyes shifted over to Sokka, who seemed frantic. Lynn used air bending to leap back to him. "What?"
Under normal circumstances, Sokka probably would have said something along the lines of 'nice view'. Instead, he pointed to the dark shape in the ocean. "There's something in the water!"
As Aang's koi fish threw him, Lynn created a wave that washed him almost all the way to shore. Tugging a bit more at the water, she got it to pull him the rest of the way.
Before she had time to tell him to pay more attention, a figure attacked her from behind, knocking her out cold.
When Lynn woke up, she was surrounded by girls with matching green outfits and makeup. Her eyes widened slightly as she sat up. "Woah, you're the Kiyoshi Warriors, aren't you?"
Lynn had never met them personally, but her parents had loved to tell her stories of the past Avatars and Deities when she was young. Bowing respectfully, Lynn spoke again. "It's an honor to meet you."
The girls bowed in response. "It's an honor to meet you. I'm sorry we knocked you out, we had no idea you were the Deity."
Lynn shrugged it off as she carefully as moved Ōumi off of her lap. "It's fine, you couldn't have known." She thought to herself for a moment. "After I eat, can you train me to fight?"
One of the Warriors blinked. "Train you to fight? Why?"
Another girl piped up. "Deity Dai Li didn't use fans, Avatar Kyoshi did."
"I already know some fighting moves from the Southern water tribe and I know air-bender evasive tactics, but I want to expand my field of knowledge. As the Deity, it is my job to be able to learn from all the nations so I can unite them. And I know he didn't, but I figured at least it might be familiar."
The leader smiled. "That makes sense. I'm Suki. Come on, I think I have a spare outfit that'll fit you."
Personally, the outfit was too long for her liking and the makeup felt too much like a light layer of chalky plaster on her face, but she asked for this. She wasn't about to complain.
Lynn stopped mirroring Suki's movements as Sokka walked in. He didn't seem to recognize her, so she didn't speak up. Lynn just stood back and watched as he embarrassed himself.
Suki smiled proudly at her prodigy student. "You were right about you catching on quickly. You're a natural!"
Lynn blushed. "Hehe thanks. Are we done training for the day?"
Suki nodded. "Yeah, I've got to train the water tribe boy you came with. You can always stay if you want, though."
Lynn shook her head. "I'd love to, but I need to make sure Aang isn't doing anything stupid. Bye Suki, see you later."
She was almost to the beach when she spotted Zuko's ship. Quickly, she pulled her body close to a tree and waited for them to pass.
Lynn smoothly followed, using air bending to weave through the trees and keep up. Her green dress flowed like a mini whirlpool as she spun.
As Zuko turned to attack Suki, Lynn stepped in, using air bending to propel herself forwards and practically tackle him off his rhino. Lynn was holding both of her fans now, prepared to strike. "Miss me?"
He let out a grunt before responding with a burst of fire. "Who are you?"
She leapt over the flames. "You're kidding, right?" He moved to punch her and she simply stepped back and switched her stance so that her left leg was in front. Lynn made a motion with her fan and a gust of wind blew him into the building.
His eyes widened as he hit the wall. "Lynn." Zuko shot another burst of fire at her.
She dismissed it once again with a wave of her hand and a gust of cold air. The snow on the ground melted and moved to her command, gluing the frustrated Prince to the wall.
"Still relying heavily on fire bending and anger, I see." Her poker face gave way to a teasing smile. "If you wanted your clothes back, you could've just asked."
"Lynn, come on, we gotta go!" Rolling her eyes at Katara's tone, the older girl complied.
The prince behind let out another frustrated yell and the ice melted. Lunging forwards, he grabbed the closest thing to him: Lynn's hair, which, for once, wasn't braided. Letting out a gasp, she turned and elbowed him in the stomach before returning the favor. The stood like that for a moment, both glaring at each other, there hands full of hair. Lynn moved suddenly and pulled him down slightly so she could head butt him.
He let out an 'oof' as he fell, tugging her along with him. As her face collided harshly with Zuko's chest, she could have sworn she heard Sokka yell "Eww oogies", whatever that ment. I must have hit my head harder than I thought.
"Let go!" A burst of wind separated the two and the snow on the ground wrapped themselves around the banished Prince. Using her super speed, she mounted Appa. "Come on, let's go!"
"Appa, yip yip!"
As they took off, Lynn's eyes followed Zuko's figure. As Aang jumped overboard, she grabbed her fans and Zuko's clothes. One swift movement sent them sailing down towards the ground.
Zuko let out a muffled growl as two items of clothes collided with his soaked face. So this is the air bender humor Uncle keeps talking about...I hate it.
