What Have I Gotten Myself Into?

Hi guys! Sorry I haven't written lately I've been so busy with finals, but now I'm out of school so I'll probably write a lot more!! In other news TFY had 130 reads! How cool is that?? Above I have put a picture of Ryder who is played by Marina Nery. I also put a link to Twenty One Pilots's Polarize which I think has the same sort of tone as this book. This chapter is also dedicated to nehoC-  thanks for all the help!

"Eleven bottles of beer on the wall, eleven bottles of beer, take one down, pass it around, 10 bottles of beer on the wall!"

Me and Adam sang cheerily on the swings. We were having a competition as to who could swing harder.

So far I was winning.

"Come on Kingsley we all know I'm going to win." I smirked in a breath between the song. He scowled but it didn't quite reach his eyes. He had to admit I was entertaining.

"Ha we'll see about that!" He yelled as he jumped off his swing, as high as he could. It was higher than I could ever get and it didn't break the rules. Nevertheless I protested.

"Cheater!" I yelled. He just winked and laughed.

I scowled. "Fine whatever, but if you didn't cheat I could totally have won."

"In your dreams Kai." Adam smirked.

Sure Adam was an cocky prick, but after we got to talking he was pretty cool. I also found out some useful information about him, such as he didn't remember anything before I dropped him off at the principal's office, it was so weird. Everyone in this town had so much history. We'd known each other forever, and I had more memories than anyone else here, but Adam was lucky, he had something new, a fresh slate.

"Hey are you okay?" Adam asked as we walked back towards town. He must have noticed I'd gotten much quieter, that happened a lot when I thought of my current predicament.

"Fine, just tired." I sighed. That was true. I'd been exhausted from this morning.

"Yeah I heard about what happened to you this morning, sorry about that." He said, a genuine sound to his voice.

I stopped in my tracks. "Where'd you hear that?" I asked, I hadn't told anyone about it, not even Ophelia.

"I heard you scream, when you went upstairs I spoke to your mom about it."
"It was like five in the morning, what were you doing outside my house?" I asked, an suspicious tone to my voice.

Adam shrugged. "I was just taking a walk."

I shook my head. "Who takes a walk by my house at five a.m?" I looked at him oddly.

He didn't squirm under my gaze he just shrugged again. That seemed to be enough of an answer for him.

I sighed and kept walking. There was something Adam wasn't telling me, it was just too much of a coincidence. This boy didn't remember anything about himself and now he suddenly seemed to want to befriend me, the only one in this town that could remember. Then he was conveniently right beside my house while my house was being vandalized with my name. No this was more than a coincidence. Adam knew something I didn't, and I was going to find out what it was, but first that meant actually becoming friends with him.

So I kept my mouth shut and didn't let him know I was onto him.

"So your captain of the football team huh?" I asked, raising an eyebrow. Even he had to know that was Brian's role to play.

"Yeah Kai, I heard the chic's dig it." Adam wiggled his eyebrows at me. I shoved him.

"You know Brian's out for your head right?" I asked Adam, he just gave his signature shrug. "I could take him." He said, bringing his arm up and flexing his (rather large) muscles. I just rolled my eyes.

"You really should come to one of our games Kai." Adam said, his voice actually serious for once.

I sighed, a hippie like me wasn't supposed to go to football games, we were supposed to go to save the pigeon rallies or the park for yoga. A high school football game was the last place I should be seen, especially because of my little outburst in English today.

"Pleaseeeeee?" Adam said, giving me his best puppy dog eyes. I sighed again, caving in. "Fine, but you owe me one!" I scowled. Adam just clapped his hands, looking like if given him the best present in the world.

"So when's the next game?" I asked, hoping it was far enough away that he'd forget I was supposed to be there. "Tomorrow night." He grinned. No such luck for me.

"Alight fine, I guess I'll see you there." I sighed. Sierra was also the head cheerleader and I had a feeling a bunch of her irrelevants would be lurking around, waiting to strike.

"Well this is my house..." I said, glancing at my door. "Let me walk you up." Adam said, already walking up and not really giving much of an option.

I got to my door and Adam ran a hand through his dark hair. "See you tomorrow night Babe." He winked. I blushed slightly but still cringed. "Don't call me that!" I yelled, he was already half way down the drive way.

"I hope she'll be there." I heard him say quietly.

"Don't worry Adam, I will be." I gave him a real smile. His voice sounded different, clearer somehow.

He looked up, alarmed before shaking his head, turning around and walking away. I sighed. That boy confused me.

Sorry this chapter was so short, I've had a major case of writers block lately and I don't know this one was just kind of hard to write, the next one will hopefully be out soon! If you like TFY don't forget to vote comment and keep reading! Thanks so much!
