Intuitions

A picture of Theresa Taylor in the multimedia.

Biology was interesting, the teacher Mrs Iyke was a good teacher, she is one of the few teachers i actually like in this school because she knows my name.

Although i never realize why some students detest her.

She carried everybody along in class, even the dirty minded ones who never failed to point out how a cell looks like the female body, she is really passionate with what she does.

I listen attentively as she explained even though I know what she was saying because I had read it four months ago. I was practically repeating it after her.

She loves asking questions about the topic she was teaching to see if her students were with her. I rarely answer or ask questions in class. Even if I do, some teachers will ignore me which hurts a great deal a times.

So i don't do that again in class, unless the teacher called me.

The door to the classroom opened as the tall figure stepped in, the teacher frowned but it soon turn into a smile when he walked in.

The girls in the class practically swooned, paying more attention to him than the teacher.

What is wrong with the female specie? He is just a boy.

A good looking intelligent young man with a nice denture and superb charisma.

Omotolani! Why are you staring at his teeth?!

Well... He just flashed a toothpaste commercial smile at the teacher which i blindly caught. The smile did not reach the eye though.

Shoot me.

"Yes Evans? Why are you late?" she asked but her countenance showed she was actually happy to see him.

I mean i would be mad if my brightest student missed my class.

"There was a meeting held by the prefects that I had to oversee" he said casually, saying nothing else.

The problem with him and other elite was that they were too uptight. They have zero tolerance for other students and even teachers, cold to the core and always with a blank expression on their faces.

Nothing excites them. Absolutely nothing! I wonder if they were made of stone.

That's why students fear them cause they are unpredictable. And when you get on their bad side, it's like the whole student body is against you.

You can imagine the bored expression on his face when discussing with the teacher but she didn't seem to mind.

"It's alright. I understand. Join the class and take your seat" she said.

His eyes searched the class, ignoring the girls who were eager to ditch their friends and offer him a seat beside them.

I quickly look away when his eyes meet mine, finding it strange. I look at my notebook, revising what i wrote down in other to ignore what is going on around me till the ruckus ends.

I look up when the teacher called back our attention, i listen abruptly, noting down the upcoming projects and tests we will be having.

The bell rang signifying the end of the class which ended on a light note before the teacher left the class. Our next class was Further Maths which always looks and sounds cool to me.

I jumped when I felt a blunt poke on my back. I turn around but got surprised with the person am facing. I raised an eyebrow in confusion, he stared blankly at me, a sophisticated looking pen on his right hand, the weapon of assault.

"Your note" he stated.

"Uhn?" I replied dumbly.

"Can I have your note? You came early to class right?

Oh my God! Did Evans Kanu just spoke to me?!

"Yes" I replied almost inaudibly but I guess he heard me as he nodded.

"Can I glance through?"

I quickly gave him my biology note before turning to face the board.

Suddenly, i felt conscious of myself, and self conscious of my writing even though it was neat and highly legible but it's Evans we are talking about here.

What if he sees my writing as that of a chicken scrawling on a wall?

I gulp, counting the strokes of impediments inflicted on the locker in front of me.

Wait a minute? Why would Evans Kanu want my note?... I know he came late to class but he is the class brightest student, he is basically the only person am in competition with in this class.

Only the teachers knew about this though....

I don't think he has to check any note to know what and what is going.

More important question, why is he sitting behind me?... There are empty seats at various places in the classroom.

I felt the familiar poke again. I sighed turning around to face him.

"Am done." I nodded taking the book from his outstretched hand "thank you" he muttered quietly.

He told me Thank You?!

Evans Kanu and I had been in the same class for the past two years and we never had a conversation. He rarely talks in class so why will he talk to me? Not to talk of seating behind me.

I said nothing putting my book in my old bag before the teacher came in.

👄💘🐓

Walking towards the cafeteria to get my breakfast before they lock the door. I slipped in ignoring the noise coming from various parts of the room.

I took a quick glance through the food in front of the students i just passed by.

Moi moi and pap...

I didn't even bring sugar but I would manage it like that. I rarely take sugar back home and I don't have the money to buy the tantalizing delicacies some of my mates bought.

My small figure was not easy to notice so I slip in between people who thought it cool to stand by the aisle.

Reaching the counter, I grabbed a tray which contains a plate, a cup and a spoon. I walked towards the Ss3 queue, blending in, in other for me not to be noticed.

My eyes scanned through the big hall, before stopping at a single table. The Elite's Table. Passed from generation to generation.

I look away as the line moved, I was at the rear back so I won't get picked on easily. I move the strands of hair behind my ear.

I made the style 'front and back ' but now, it seems to be getting annoying to me.

I took my breakfast muttering a quick thank you which was ignored. I turn around only to slam into a hard chest.

I hear gasps all over the hall, clutching the tray to my chest like my life depended on it. Once i was sure the content will not fall off or spill on me and the stranger. I look up and I almost passed out.

Akorede Wellington glared at my jittery physique, staring me down with cold eyes. The hall was so silent, anticipating his next move.

"Am so-sorry" I squeaked like a mouse.

"Next time, watch where you are going" he said calmly.

I can't believe someone will look this mad and sound that calm. I nodded mechanically.

"KK" a sweet sultry voice was heard behind us. He didn't spare her a glance but i took a look anyway.

Celine Nnaji, the uncrowned queen of SJC. A classy bitch with a terrible snobbish attitude. A music prodigy. She can make magic with any instrument she lays her hands on. She has a weird obsession for Korede and i think he was trying to get away from her, when he bumped into me.

He gave me a single glance before walking off with Celine hot on his trails as he heads back to his table to join his friends.

Students parted like the red sea when he walked through.

I walk briskly to a table at the far end of the hall which was empty. I placed my hand on my beating heart trying to contain my anxiety.

Relax girl... He had always looked that murderous. He won't do anything to you.

It was the numerous eyes on me that got me nervous but now... Everything is back to normal as students ignored me again.

I ate my food peacefully, humming a particular soft tune in my head.

I froze when I felt a familiar unwanted presence behind me. Looking up, I saw Akeju and his goons had surrounded the table with menacing stares.

So much for a peaceful breakfast...

"If it isn't Smalls.. My favorite prey" I hear the sweet sickening baritone. I gently placed my spoon down.

He was found of calling the students he bullied preys and i happened to be is favourite.

Charming, right?

"Hi... "

He hates it when I give him the silent treatment and things could get nasty if Akeju is ignored.

"Hi.." he taunts "you sounded like a dying rat" I bit my lip as his goons laughed.

He grabs a seat before placing it right beside me and sitting on it. His athletic form made him tower over me. His goons does the same... Seeing us from afar, you would think that we were a group of friends having a nice conversation but I know this is going to end badly for me.

I should not have come to the cafeteria today....

"Baloo! She even made her hair o" Kelechi ... One of his goons who was always fond of peeping into the female's toilet spoke up pointing at my weaved hair.

"Don't mind her... She think say she fine?" another one named Bobola remarked.

"You know she don dey grow breast... She don dey carry na" JJ taunts, I blushed in embarrassment. Unconsciously wrapping my arms around my chest area.

Last year, I had really small breasts. Remember i said i had slow puberty growth. During the holiday, i don't know what happened. I just found myself outgrowing my sports bra and my hips were getting wider and it seems am not the only one who noticed this... Akeju and his goons did too.

"As if i would fuck this one" I flinched at his vulgar word. Akeju could be vulgar too. "If I enter her small like this she would start weeping like a dog"

They burst into fits of laughter which attracted a lot of attention from other table. My eyes burned with hot tears. He was mean to me but he was never this vulgar with me.

I stood up to leave only to be pulled down by the sleeve of my blazer.

"Where are you going? Am not done with you!" he snapped in anger.

"Please let me go" I begged meekly, containing the brewing tears, I fight my sleeve off his grip.

"Aww... You wanna cry?" he mocked but I shook my head "You better don't unless I will give you something to cry about"

He threatens, his friends hooted causing the attention i hated.

I sat still praying he would get bored and eventually go away.

"Your hair looks stupid... And ugly too" I felt a sharp stab in me due to his words.

My mom made that hair. She told me i looked beautiful and I believed her but his words were giving me second thoughts.

When I was making a small Afro cut, he always makes fun of me on how boyish I looked, I never cared about my appearance but now I felt like I needed to pay extra attention to my physical looks.

Akeju words were like a sharp blow.

"It brought your coconut head out" JJ joked.

Akeju said nothing, staring at the pained expression on my face.

"How about i give your face a new face lift?" before I could understand what he meant, a loud scream left my lips at the warm starchy sticky liquid that was emptied on my head.

I flew up in shock before looking at him to see him staring at me with a wicked glint in his eyes. Ignoring the laughs coming from his friends and other students, I raced out of the hall.

I. Hate. It. Here!!

Hmm..... An insight to her everyday life...

Have you ever being in this kind of position? Tell us your experience..

Translation :
You know she don dey grow breast: you know she has developed some boobs.
