Heterochromia

Heterochromia Iridum :
A condition whereby the colored part of the eyes (iris) is multicolored. It may occur as a part of genetic condition, an eye injury, hereditary trait or as a result of trauma. It happens when the concentration and distribution of melanin isn't  uniformed.

He stared at her hunched figure, the posture was a sad one itself and from the sniffs coming from her occasionally, you will know she was crying.

Rule number one for surviving a school full of rich kids, never talk to the popular kids, don't ever like never ever. If you do... You are a goner...

He was at first confused on what to do in that situation, pacifying crying females was not his strong fort but this is Omotolani we are talking about here.

"Hey" he called out softly.

Slowly, she lifts her head up to look at him and he almost flinched at what he saw. Her cheeks was battered, bruised and swollen alongside tears. Handprints were visibly imprinted on the once soft, smooth cheeks.

Theresa was right when she said her cheeks were swollen and he was sure she was in pain.

Unclenching his fists which was due to anger, he dipped his hand into the pocket of his hoodie before retracting the tube of ointment he brought along.

He stretched it out for her to take but she stared at it before looking away, refusing to take it.

Sighing, he took a sit opposite her, facing her.

"We need to stop meeting like this" he joked about the other time she was balling her eyes out, during the contraceptive pills incident. It was just three months ago but it looked like a long time. "You look awful" he stated the truth.

She threw him a glare which he ignored.

"Thanks a lot Captain Obvious" she sassed.

He took out the tube before opening the tip, putting a decent amount of the cool substance at the tips of his two fingers, he gestured for her to bring her face.

She refuses to, he seized her chin, holding it in a gentle grip before applying the ointment evenly on her right cheek.

"You should have broke her nose. If she had done this to you, she shouldn't go scot free" she snickered at his words then sniffs.

"I wish... Her friends were holding me down" she defended.

"Were they holding your legs?" she frowned at his question.

"Uhn?" he asked her again "no?"

"You should have kicked her then... Right at the stomach, use your whole strength" he advised like a life coach.

"You are talking as if there is going to be a next time" she muttered watching him apply the ointment to her other cheek.

"There would be a next time"

"Well i don't want a next time!" taking his hand off her chin, he stared at her for a while.

He sighed at her agitated tone. He knew they won't leave her alone.

"Omotola... You are one of us now. You sit at our table no matter how ridiculous it is, something Celine had always wanted but you got yours on a silver platter. You are dating one of us" he said while clearing his throat "they are going to find out sooner or later and trust me you need all the courage you can get to face not only Celine but the entire school body" she groaned shaking my head.

"I never bargained for this" she complained bitterly.

"It is going to happen and you know it. Just promise you would stand up for yourself when the time comes. It is only you that can do that for yourself, we can't be everywhere. Only you can take charge of what goes in and out of your life, only you can decide what you want"

She pursed her lips thinking about what he said the same time he decided to continue his ministrations on her cheeks.

"Alright... I have heard you" he raise an eyebrow causing her to roll her eyes "and i promise to defend myself next time" he smiles at her words.

"What is going on here?!"

Omotolani look to her side where the familiar voice of her boyfriend came from causing Faramade to let go of her chin.

Couldn't he just have given them some minutes together before showing his face? He was finding that face annoying these days.

He was finding the face of his best friend and roommate annoying, all because of a girl...

He stood up slowly as Omotolani looked away from the two.

"I was just leaving, thought i should check up on her"

"I was about doing that" Akorede voice came out clipped which made Omotolani look at the two in confusion but Faramade only gave him a bored look.

One that of suspicion, the other that of accusation.

Faramade excused himself not before placing the ointment in the palm of her hand, telling her to take care of herself.

Akorede stared at his retreating figure with a narrowed look, suspicion and annoyance clearly written on his face before turning to Omotolani.

His face fell while taking in her swollen face.

Oh no...

--------

His eyes goes through the large hall, students sat down in different groups and classes, reading, talking and fooling around but none of that concerned him.

He stepped further into the hall, spotting who he was looking for. With jaws clenched, he marched towards where they sat.

"Cyborg!... Dude, what's with the murderous face?!" Bobola joked as he raised his hand in greeting for a handshake like they were old friends but he just breezed past him like he was invincible.

Bobola's face morphed into fake hurt while his friends hoot in laughter but that soon stopped when they saw where he was headed to.

The girls looked up and they were taken aback by the looming shadow of Faramade Kuti who looked angry beyond words.

Becca shifts uneasily on her seat while Celine stared at him totally confused.

Why was he here? He never spoke with them, doesn't give them the time of the day, so it was really strange.

"Faramade? Do you need anything?" Celine asked after he refused to say anything but stare at her like she was a waste of space.

"You are feeling great about yourself, right?"

Celine frowned at the cryptic question, turning to Becca for help, the latter only shrugged.

"What do you mean?-"

"Going around to oppress the others?, feeling great about yourself? Not knowing that you are the lowlife" he growled at her causing her to gulp, fear evident on her face.

Students stopped what they were doing to watch what was going on.

"Faramade, i won't have you-" a scream fell from her lips as he threw their books and belongings onto the ground in an angry manner. Students gasped in shock as murmurs filled the once quiet hall. Becca quickly stood up, moving back a bit "What is wrong with you?!"

He got into her face causing her to cower back in fear due to the look he gave her.

"Stop whatever you are trying to do or else..." he threatens.

"But i didn't do anything" she mumbled but a single look from him made her shut up. She didn't do anything that could have annoyed him. In fact, she always make sure she stays out of his lane. Then something dropped in her mind "this is about Tolani, right?"

He only leered at her, giving her a final note of warning before walking away.

Zara who just got in was surprised to see Faramade walking away from her friends and from the scared expressions on their faces, she knew it was nothing good but she couldn't help but try her luck.

Her face lit up as he got closer.

"Faramade... Good evening-" he walked past her not looking, replying or acting as if she was there. He acted like she was ordinary air.

Unseen and unheard.

That did hurt her... That hurt her a lot.

Becca was busy picking her books on the floor, complaining about boys with major anger issues and on how they should not be allowed to roam around. Something she can never say in his presence.

Celine stared at his retreating figure. Confused about the whole thing. He was not the person she was expecting to react this way. She looked around the hall before her eyes locked with the person she was looking for.

Akeju, who had been watching the whole thing going down was equally amazed.

Cyborg was ticked off by Celine antics, he must care about Omotolani, or are they together? That is not is bone of contention anyway...

What matters is that he needs to find out what was going on between Akorede and Omotolani because he was double sure there is something up with those two.

Once he confirms this, he would know the next thing to do.

                      ⏰💐👫

I stood up abruptly, she stared up at me with lack of enthusiasm. I need to put an end to this bullshit. She had no right nor audacity.

"Where are you going?"

"To give her a piece of my mind" i don't know who they hell she think she is but this her meaningless charade needs to stop or she will see my other side.

"If you go... Then don't come back" i freeze at her statement, stopping in my tracks, the strong tone of her words made me pause, rethink and re track.

I did nothing wrong. Turning around to face her with wide eyes.

"What?" i choked out while my heart pounds out in my chest and mind you, not in a good manner.

She sighs, rising up from where she sat, walking towards my frozen form.

"Korede-" oh God! She did not call me by my full name, this is bad.

"Are you breaking up with me?"

She looked taken aback by my question, like i just punched her in the face.

"What?! No! Why would i do that?!" she asked sounding alarmed by my question.

"Well... You..." i groaned, running a hand through my hair. What is wrong with me? Why am i jumping in to illogical conclusions?

"Akorede... " she started softly, talking a hold of my two large hands in her small, soft, dainty ones. "I am not breaking up with you"

"But you said-"

"I know what i said" she said rubbing her thumb on the back of my hand which made me relax into the comforting touch. "don't you think it would be suspicious to confront her on this issue? We are supposed to keep up with the act remember?"

I groaned, recalling that our relationship status had not been made public, something i detested so much.

"But it gives-"

"It will look childish if you start defending me in public because i got hit by a girl. Guys don't get involve in girl fights" she chided.

I stared at her face, wincing at her swollen cheeks.

"Can i talk?" she frowned in a cute way, she didn't realize that she hasn't allow me to talk, she nodded. "To be honest, i don't buy this idea of keeping our relationship secret."

It is ridiculous. Does she know how hard it is for me not to punch the next guy that stares at her in a lewd way? Or does she know how hard it is for me not to pull my ears out when i listen to hormone controlled boys talk about her in the hostel?

It drives me nuts!

"Akorede-"

"No, let me talk. I have the floor here" she let go of my hands, crossed her arms staring at me "Shetemi, i don't think it is necessary keeping this thing secret. They are bound to found out either way" i tried reasoning with her.

She should please see things the way i am seeing it. If they know she is my girl, they would think twice before pestering or attacking her.

Moreover, i want to show her off to the world...

"I don't Akorede... The backlash...i don't think i can deal with that"

"Then we would face it together" i assured her, talking a hold of her hands, she shook her head but i was not having it. I pulled her closer wrapping my arms around her warm, soft body.

She put her head on my chest, placing a quick kiss on her forehead, a scent of coconut waft into my nose. I sighed.

"I'm scared" her voice small and unsteady and it broke my heart that the thought of people knowing we were together scares her.

"There is nothing to be scared of" i assured her "i would be right here, in every step of the way" wrapping her arms around me tightly, she said nothing as we both enjoyed the silence, the sun setting in west and the beautiful burst of orange, purple and blue which filled the sky added to the aesthetic of this moment. "how is your cheeks?"

She lifts her head up to look at me, taking a very close at the two cheeks, i tilt her chin from side to side with jaws clenched. Celine really did a number on her.

"It is getting better now, Faramade applied something. It is no more hurting like before" she said dipping her hand into the pocket of her hoodie, bringing out a small tube of ointment.

I glared down at the white tube before looking back at her with a smile, hiding my jealous emotions.

When did he turn into a nurse? Faramade and niceness does not go together, at all. I am speaking of over seven years experience.

"He did... Did he?" i pulled her closer. "You know i should be the one doing that"

Now he had officially made me a fool in front of my girlfriend.

"He is just being a good friend"

Indeed...

I shook my head, getting my thoughts together.

"You know what?" she looks up at me "I know what to do to make you feel better..." eyeing the empty bleachers " but first thing first, let's get out of here"

-------

Staring at the emptiness in front of him as well as the cold air surrounding him, he couldn't help but feel empty inside. The large amphitheater which had an over a thousand seating capacity was where he normally hid away to escape all the drama going on around him.

Or to escape those two.
It is better this way or he may go mad with jealousy.

It was also a good place to take a quick smoke knowing no one would come here around this time of the night.

Inhaling the smoky substance from the cancer sticks, he blows it out without batting an eye or coughing. He was so used to the feeling and the whole process that he doesn't find it hard nor anything bad in the act.

"You know smoking is wrong, right?" he choked at the sound of the familiar voice.

Wheezing like an old engine, he coughed hysterically, his eyes watered as he tried to control his breathing and also his pounding heart.

How did he find him?!

"Uhm?" he uttered not really knowing what to say.

"Smoking is wrong. Like there is a reason it is written on the packet that smokers are liable to die young" she laid out in front of him, educating him like a child.

Of course he knew that smoking was a bad thing for his health but he couldn't help it a times when tensed or under pressure.

Instead of acknowledging this fact, he opened his mouth to say something else.

"How did you find me?" his voice came out hoarse and uneasy.

She stared at him and it made him feel all sorts of emotions that he should not be feeling inside. She turned to look around at where he normally hid away from everyone, even his friends.

They were on the roof of the amphitheater, the place was built in a way that some parts were levelled so as to give space to the large solar panels set up on it, it is very easy to climb the stairs leading up to this place, sit back alone and stare into the blue sky like he normally does.

Students don't come up here because what's there to see expect solar panels and littered furniture but this had always been his abode.

Not anymore....

"I followed you" she said with a shrug, he raised a scarred eyebrow in surprise at her statement "i saw you sneaking away so i decided to follow you to give you this" she brought out the tube of ointment he gave her days ago. "Thank you"

He held his breath when he realized she was moving closer, he does not want to inhale that lovely scent. It does crazy things to him.

He collected the tube from her outstretched hand before nodding.

"Okay... " he saw her eyes drift to the other side, moving towards the lit cigarette in his hand, he quickly puts it out "i will be going " she gestured with her thumbs behind her which made her looked nervous and cute. He fought really hard to hide his smile. It would be creepy to just smile for no reason.

She turned to leave but then stops again, looking back at him with worried eyes.

"Faramade... I don't want to sound nosy but is everything okay?" he frowned at the worried note in her voice. "i mean... You haven't said anything since the start of this conversation "

Dammit!

Of course he hasn't!

"Oh..." his consciousness screamed at him to say something meaningful or shut the fuck up! "no... I mean" clearing his throat "everything is okay"

She stared at him with those pretty eyes of hers before nodding again, smiling at him, his heartbeat skyrocketed into an alarming rate.

"Alright then.... But i am serious. Do away with the cancer sticks. Okay?"

He nodded like a child. She gave him another beautiful smile before walking towards the exit that led downstairs.

He watched her leave, missing the warmth of her presence already. Suddenly angry with himself for being dumb and not saying anything while she was there. He stared down at the tube in his hand before letting out another bunch of smoky cough.

Heterochrimia Iridum...have you come across this word before?
*have you ever come across anyone with this condition?
*what is your view on this condition?
*do you think it is real or do you see it as a myth?

-Faramade literally shocked everybody 😁😁... Like guy... Who send you?

Do you think Akorede knows about his feelings for Omotolani or he is just being suspicious?

Do you think Omotolani will defend herself the next time such happens (do you want her to do so? 😳)

Do you think she should have allowed Akorede to confront Celine on the assault issue?

I know i went MIA... Don't tear me apart o.
