Chapter two

San Antonio, Texas

Isabella

The next day after breakfast, we met in the loft upstairs. We put Ryan and Madison near the stairs to watch for Ms. Garcia. We had the game 'Sorry' and 'Monopoly' out. Jayden, Ryan, Samuel, and Jackson played 'Monopoly'. Madison, Emily, Hannah and I played 'Sorry'.

We place the pieces around the broad to make it look like we were playing. Just in case Ms. Garcia came upstairs to check on us.

"Who's in?" I asked.

"This is a very bad idea." Samuel said. We called him Sam for short. Sam has dark red hair and brown eyes.

"Don't you wanna see what powers we have, or travel the world? That's sounds a whole lot better than staying here for the rest of our life. we deserve to be free." I said. I'm trying to convince Sam.

"Don't you think the government put us here for a reason, we could be a danger. We could hurt ourselves, if we leave, we could be running for the rest of our lives. I don't know about you, but that's not the life I wanna live." He responded. It's going to be a little harder to convince Samuel. "I don't want to worry for the rest of my life."

I groaned. "You don't get it, this isn't living. We're prisoners, you just can't see it. Yeah, we may live in a big house and have everything we need, but we should be able to travel and be able to leave."

Madison and Ryan sat down to play the games, that means Ms. Garcia is coming. We started playing the games we had put in front of us. Ms. Garcia visited us.

"You kids having fun?"

We all nodded.

She smiled. "I'll be downstairs if you need me. Stay out of trouble and be nice." She walked back down stairs.

I looked over at Samuel. I waited a minute before talking. "Everyone who wants to leave, raise your hand." Jayden, Ryan, Jackson, Hannah, Emily, Madison and I all raised our hands. I looked over at Sam who didn't.

"You should come with us, who knows what she'll do or what the government will do to you when finds out that we left." I said. Fear, it always works when your trying to convince someone something.

Sam thought for a second. "Fine, I'm in."

I grinned at my success.

"What now?" Jayden asked.

"Now, we plan." Now we finally have a chance at getting out this place, with everyone on board.

"Are chances are better to escape at night, right?" Ryan said.

"I agree." Emily said.

"So we leave tonight, pack lightly." Samuel said.

We discussed the plan, everything was going great so far. We played the games that we had set up.

Lunch was coming soon, so we put the games up and went downstairs to eat lunch.

At lunch Ms. Garcia spoke.

"Tomorrow we have some people who are going to make the fence better by adding a metal gate on the outside of it." She told us.

Of course all of us already knew about this. But we still have to act surprised.

"That's great Ms. Garcia, but why?" Hannah asked, sounding interested. She did this so that Ms. Garcia wouldn't suspect that we were escaping later tonight.

"You know, the world isn't safe out there for you kids. I just want to keep you safe." She responded.

We all nodded.

"Thank you Ms. Garcia." I said sincerely.

She smiled. "No problem kids."

We finished our food and got our shots. This would be the last time they gave this to us, because we are leaving this place tonight. I am very excited about this.

We all went upstairs to our rooms after lunch.

Madison

I can't believe they volunteered me to go find the poison, why me? Out of all people.

I headed downstairs. I walked to Ms. Garcia's room. I put my head to the door and listened. It was silent. So I opened the door and went into her room. I closed the door behind me and I went into the bathroom. I searched through cabinets and found this.

I was shocked to find this, this could kill Ms. Garcia. Why would she have this in her bathroom in the first place? I guess if one of us got to curious, she would just kill us with this. I took the Arsenic and closed the cabinet. I left the bathroom, I heard Ms. Garcia's voice.

Crap! I gotta hide. I looked around for a hiding spot, maybe the closet. I went into the closet and closed the door behind me. I have to stay in the closet, until I know it's safe to leave.

I heard the bathroom door opened then close. I waited 15 seconds before opening the door. The coast was clear, I left Ms. Garcia's room and quickly ran upstairs and headed to Isabella's and Emily's Room. They were both in there.

"Sorry I forgot to knock. But this is what I found."

"It's fine." Emily said.

"Whoa! We're not planning on killing her, we're just gonna make her a little sick." Isabella said looking at the bottle of arsenic then at me.

"But we should, that just means one less loose end. We could use that to our advantage." I said.

Isabella looked at Emily. Emily shrugged. "She got a point." Emily agreed.

"I guess so, plus she wouldn't even know we put it in her food. It looks like salt." Isabella said.

I nodded. "Did you guys finish packing?"

"Yeah I did." Emily said.

Isabella held up a bag. "So did I."

Jackson

"I accidentally broke your favorite vase." I told Ms. Garcia.

She looked mad for a second then she looked calm. "Show me." She simply said.

I turned around and smiled. "Follow me."

I led her to the living room and the area where the vase fell.

"Here it is." I said, gesturing to the mess.

Ms. Garcia looked mad.

"I'm sorry-" I was cut off by Ms. Garcia.

"Tell me how this happened." Her voice was cold and she didn't take her eyes off the broken vase.

I started telling her how I broke the vase. I told her the really long version to gave Madison as much time to poison Ms. Garcia's food.

"I was playing with a football in the house, because I did not feel like going outside. I threw it and the football just so happened to hit the vase. I knew dinner was going to happen soon and I knew that you were going to find out eventually. So I decided to tell you the the truth before you found out about it. If I had more time I would've ordered another one or glued this one back together at least. I was playing with the football in the house because I know how you feel about us going outside. So I thought this would be better. But if I was more careful, your vase would still be intact." The story was only a minute and thirty seconds.

"You know I'm going to have to punish you, right?"

I nodded.

"Your punishment is staying in your room the whole day. You only come out for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Is that understood?"

"All day tomorrow?" I asked, trying to sound sad. I know where I am going to be tomorrow, so I don't have to worry about this.

"That's right young man." She confirmed.

"Okay," I walked back to the dining room with Ms. Garcia. "I'm truly sorry Ms. Garcia." I said. Another 30 seconds had passed by before Ms. Garcia and I were back in the dinning room.

"I appreciate you trying to stay in the house. But you still broke my vase, and that's why your getting punished." She told me.

"I understand Ms. Garcia."

I said this so that Madison knew we were coming back. If she was still trying to poison Ms. Garcia's food, she better hurry. I could only stall Ms. Garcia for two minutes.

Madison

While Jackson was distracting Ms. Garcia, I took this time to poison her food. I sprinkled the Arsenic and made sure it wasn't visible. Then I sat back down.

Two minutes later Ms. Garcia came back. Sat down and said something. "Jackson here is on punishment, so don't talk to him tomorrow all at. Since he decided to break my vase, not on purpose. He will be in his room for the whole day tomorrow. He can still join us during meals, but that's all he gets to do. Hopefully this will give you some time to reflect, Jackson." Ms. Garcia said.

That's kinda harsh, but we won't have to live by her rules after tonight.

Everyone nodded. We finished dinner and went to bed. It will take a while for the Arsenic to kick in.

Jayden

We stood by the front door. I hoped everyone was here.

"One, two, three, four, five, six," I counted myself. "Who are we missing?"

Isabella looked around. "Madison and Jackson."

"Where are they?" I asked.

"I don't know." Isabella said worried.

A few minutes later Madison and Jackson came down the stairs. Now we have everybody.

"Where were you guys?" Isabella asked.

"Sorry she was helping me find something." Jackson explained.

"Ok, let's go." I opened the door and the alarm went off. I had no idea that Ms. Garcia had an alarm. We've never left the house at night, we have a curfew, it's straight to bed after dinner.

We ran out the house, once we got to the fence I tried to open it but it was locked.

"What's wrong?" Madison asked.

"It's locked." I said.

Just then Ms. Garcia walked out the house. She looked mad.

"Everyone, get your knifes out." I said calmly.

Before we left we grabbed knifes from the kitchen. We couldn't use our powers until the shot wore off. It will wear off sometime around lunch tomorrow.

"Fight her off! Someone help me get this fence open!" I ordered.

Samuel, Jackson, Ryan, and Emily got ready to fight. They all had their knifes out. While Madison, Hannah, Isabella, and I figured out a way to open this fence. Ms. Garcia started walking towards them.

I pulled out an axe I looked over at Isabella who was grinning. I wasn't even going to ask how she got this. "How many do we have?" I asked her.

"Three more, so four in total." Isabella told me.

I nodded. "Grab the rest and help me." I started hitting at the fence to make a hole big enough. We had to work fast. I hope we can get out of here fast before Ms. Garcia stops us.
