Chapter 1: Finding out/ Telling Legolas
Tauriel sat on the cold tiles of the bathroom floor, her heart pounding in her chest as she stared at the wooden stick in her hand. Tears welled in her eyes, blurring her vision. "What am I going to do? What am I going to tell Legolas?" she whispered to herself, her voice trembling with fear and uncertainty.
Just then, the door creaked open, and Legolas stepped into the room. His eyes widened in concern as he took in the sight of her on the floor, tears streaming down her cheeks. "Tell me what?" he asked, his voice gentle but urgent as he crossed the room to kneel beside her.
Tauriel looked up at him, her hands shaking as she held out the pregnancy test. "Legolas," she began, her voice barely above a whisper, "I'm pregnant. I just found out."
Legolas's eyes widened in shock, and for a moment, he simply stared at her, speechless. "Pregnant?" he repeated, his voice tinged with disbelief. He took the stick from her hand, his fingers brushing against hers. "Are you sure?"
Tauriel nodded, fresh tears spilling over her cheeks. "Yes, I'm sure," she replied, her voice breaking. "I didn't know how to tell you. I didn't know what you'd think."
Legolas's expression softened, and he reached out to gently cup her face in his hands, wiping away her tears with his thumbs. "Are you alright, my love? Are you not happy about the baby?" he asked, his voice filled with concern.
Tauriel's lip quivered as she looked into his eyes. "What? No, of course, I'm happy," she said, her voice shaky. "I'm just... shocked. Overwhelmed."
Legolas let out a breath he hadn't realized he'd been holding and pulled her into his arms, holding her close. "I'm happy too, Tauriel," he murmured into her hair. "Just shocked, like you. But this is a blessing. We're going to have a child."
She buried her face in his shoulder, feeling the warmth and safety of his embrace. "How far along are you?" Legolas asked softly, his voice vibrating against her.
"One month," she replied, her voice muffled against his tunic.
Legolas pulled back slightly to look at her, his brow furrowing in concern. "Why didn't you take the test sooner?" he asked, his voice gentle but inquisitive.
"I only started having symptoms a few weeks ago," Tauriel explained, her voice tinged with regret. "I didn't want to believe it at first. I was scared."
Legolas nodded, understanding dawning in his eyes. "It's alright, Tauriel," he said, his voice soothing. "We'll figure this out together. You never have to face anything alone."
He helped her to her feet, still holding her hand as they made their way to the bedroom. The weight of the revelation hung in the air, but it was balanced by the strength of their bond. Legolas pulled back the covers and guided her into the bed, slipping in beside her.
They lay side by side, the dim light casting soft shadows on their faces. Legolas wrapped his arm around Tauriel, resting his hand gently on her still-flat stomach. He rubbed it in slow, soothing circles, a gesture of comfort and love.
"It's late," Legolas murmured, pressing a kiss to her forehead. "You need to rest, my love. You've had a long day."
Tauriel nodded, her eyelids growing heavy with exhaustion. "Thank you, Legolas," she whispered, her voice filled with gratitude and love. "I don't know what I would do without you."
Legolas smiled, his heart swelling with affection for the woman beside him. "You will never have to find out," he replied softly. "I love you, Tauriel. And I already love our child."
Tauriel's eyes fluttered closed, comforted by his words and the warmth of his embrace. "I love you too, Legolas," she murmured, her voice fading as sleep began to claim her.
As they lay together in the quiet of the night, the reality of their new future began to settle in. Legolas continued to rub her stomach gently, his thoughts racing with excitement and wonder. The prospect of becoming a father filled him with a profound sense of purpose and joy.
"We'll need to prepare," he whispered, more to himself than to Tauriel. Make plans. But for now, rest, my love."
Tauriel's breathing had evened out, and she was already asleep, her body relaxing completely against him. Legolas watched her for a long moment, his heart full of love and devotion. He pressed another gentle kiss to her forehead, vowing to protect and cherish both her and their unborn child.
The night stretched on, filled with dreams of their future and the life they were about to bring into the world. Together, they would face whatever challenges lay ahead, their love guiding them through the uncertainty and into the light of a new dawn.
In the dead of night, Tauriel's sleep was abruptly shattered by a wave of nausea that swept through her like a tidal wave. With a sense of urgency, she stumbled out of bed and hurried to the bathroom, her steps unsteady as she fought to keep her stomach under control.
"Are you alright, my love?" Legolas's voice floated after her, filled with concern as he emerged from the embrace of sleep, his senses alert to the distress of his wife. He rose from the bed, his movements fluid and swift as he followed her into the bathroom.
Tauriel leaned against the cool tiles, her face pale and drawn as she felt the sickness rise within her. Legolas knelt beside her, his strong arms encircling her as he held back her hair, offering comfort in the midst of her discomfort. "Are you sick?" he asked, his voice soft and soothing.
Tauriel shook her head weakly, her breath coming in short gasps as she struggled to compose herself. "No, it's just... morning sickness," she managed to reply, her voice strained with effort.
Legolas's brows furrowed in concern, his eyes filled with empathy as he gazed at her. "Is morning sickness normal for pregnancy?" he inquired, his voice laced with worry.
Tauriel nodded, her lips pressing into a thin line as she fought back another wave of nausea. "Yes, it's quite common," she assured him, her voice tinged with exhaustion. "They say it will go away in a few months."
Legolas's grip tightened around her, his touch a grounding force amidst the turmoil of her body's rebellion. "Let me help you up," he offered, his tone gentle as he guided her back to her feet.
Together, they made their way back to their bedroom, Legolas's arm wrapped protectively around Tauriel's waist as they navigated the dimly lit hallway. Once inside, he tucked her back into bed, arranging the covers around her with careful precision.
As Tauriel settled back against the pillows, Legolas pressed a tender kiss to her forehead, his lips lingering against her skin in a silent promise of support and reassurance. "Try to get some rest, my love," he murmured, his voice a soothing melody in the darkness.
Tauriel nodded, her eyelids heavy with exhaustion as she felt the weariness of the night begin to weigh upon her. "Thank you, Legolas," she whispered, her voice barely above a whisper.
Legolas smiled, his heart swelling with love for the woman beside him. "Anything for you, Tauriel," he replied softly, his fingers brushing against her cheek in a gentle caress. "I'll be right here if you need anything."
With those comforting words, they both drifted back into the embrace of sleep, their dreams intertwined with the promise of a future filled with love, laughter, and the joy of new life.
The morning sunlight filtered through the curtains, casting a warm glow across the room as Tauriel slowly stirred from her slumber. She felt Legolas's gentle touch on her shoulder, rousing her from her dreams.
"Tauriel, wake up, my love," Legolas's voice was soft but filled with warmth as he urged her to awaken to the new day.
Blinking sleepily, Tauriel turned to face him, her eyes still heavy with sleep. "What time is it?" she murmured, her voice soft and groggy.
Legolas glanced at the wooden clock on the nightstand, noting the time with a small smile. "It's 9:00," he replied, his gaze softening as he looked at her fondly.
Tauriel yawned, stretching languidly as she shook off the last remnants of sleep. "Did you sleep alright?" Legolas inquired, his concern evident in his voice.
Tauriel nodded, a small smile playing on her lips despite the lingering fatigue. "Other than our little one making me sick, I slept fine," she admitted, her hand instinctively moving to rest on her stomach.
Legolas's expression softened with affection as he reached out to touch her still-flat stomach. "How are you and our little one doing?" he asked, his voice filled with tenderness as he rubbed her belly gently.
Tauriel's heart swelled with love as she felt his touch, her fingers covering his hand as she leaned into his embrace. "We're fine," she replied, her voice filled with warmth and gratitude. "Just taking it one day at a time."
Legolas smiled, his eyes shining with joy as he looked at her. "That's all we can do," he agreed, his thumb tracing small circles on her abdomen. "But know that I'm here for you, every step of the way."
Tauriel's heart fluttered at his words, overwhelmed by the depth of his love and support. "Thank you, Legolas," she whispered, her voice filled with emotion as she leaned in to press a gentle kiss to his lips.
As they lay together, bathed in the morning light, Tauriel knew that with Legolas by her side, she could face whatever challenges lay ahead.
One month later
As the sun dipped low in the sky, painting the forest in hues of orange and gold, Tauriel stood at the kitchen sink, the warmth of the fading daylight streaming through the window. She moved methodically, washing dishes with a sense of calm that belied the excitement and anticipation bubbling within her.
Suddenly, strong arms wrapped around her waist, pulling her close, and Tauriel felt a rush of warmth as Legolas's familiar embrace enveloped her. His voice, tinged with concern, interrupted her thoughts. "I'm going to scout the forest for spiders. Will you be alright here by yourself?" he asked, his tone filled with care.
Tauriel turned in his arms, meeting his gaze with a reassuring smile. "I'll be alright. Me and the baby will be waiting for you," she replied, her hand instinctively resting on her gently swelling abdomen.
Legolas nodded, his eyes softening with affection as he leaned in to press a tender kiss to her forehead. "I'll be back before you know it," he promised, his voice filled with reassurance.
With a final squeeze, Legolas released her from his embrace and headed out into the forest, disappearing into the foliage with the grace and agility of an elf accustomed to the ways of the wild.
Alone in the quiet of their home, Tauriel found herself drawn to the cozy comfort of the couch, where she settled in with a book in hand. As she immersed herself in the pages, her thoughts wandered to the life growing within her, filling her with a sense of wonder and awe.
Hours passed in a gentle blur, the sunlight giving way to the soft glow of twilight as Tauriel lost herself in the world of her book. Yet even as she read, her thoughts remained tethered to Legolas, her heart eagerly awaiting his return.
Suddenly, the sound of the door opening drew her attention, and Tauriel looked up to see Legolas stepping through the threshold, a smile lighting up his face at the sight of her.
"I'm back," he announced, crossing the room to join her on the couch.
Tauriel set her book aside, her own smile mirroring his. "Welcome home," she replied, reaching out to take his hand in hers.
Legolas sank onto the couch beside her, the tension of the day melting away in the comfort of her presence. "How did it go?" Tauriel asked, her voice filled with curiosity.
Legolas leaned back, a thoughtful expression crossing his features. "There were no spiders or orcs, so I spent the day training," he replied, his voice tinged with a hint of satisfaction.
Tauriel nodded, impressed by his dedication to their safety. "You never cease to amaze me," she murmured, her gaze lingering on his rugged features.
"How are you and our little one doing?" Legolas asked, his hand moving to rest gently on her still-flat abdomen, his touch a gentle caress against her skin.
Tauriel smiled, feeling a surge of warmth at his gesture. "We're fine," she replied, covering his hand with hers. "Just waiting for you to come back to us."
Legolas's eyes softened with love as he looked at her, a silent vow passing between them. "I'll always come back to you," he promised, his voice filled with sincerity.
Together, they sat in the quiet of their home, their hands intertwined, their hearts beating as one. And as they looked towards the future, they did so with hope and anticipation, ready to embrace whatever adventures awaited them on their journey into parenthood.
