This original tale was created by Lamplighter1890 as a submission for the WattpadFairytales, "Rewind the Classics Contest." 

The spin I chose was to create a crossover, or a mashup, with Disney's "A Bug's Life" and the classic, "The Lord of the Rings." Why not? They both involve long journeys and small heroes with names that start with "F" (Frodo and Flick - yo!).

The Prompt

Take a well-known story, be it a fairy tale, fable, myth, epic, legend, classic novel, play, ballet... anything that might be considered a 'classic story' and put an unexpected creative spin on it.

We are looking for retellings that combine well-known characters and storylines with unexpected elements.  Think something like Pride and Prejudice and Zombies.

The Rules

The contest will run from August 1st to 31st, 2020.  Stories must be submitted no later than August 31st, 11:59 PM CEST (Central European Summer Time).

Entries should be between 2000 and 3500 words.  However, this is not a hard limit and we're ready to give a small leeway if we like the entries submitted.  But please do your best to stay within the given limit.

Please publish the story on your profile, either as a stand-alone story or as a chapter in an existing anthology.  Only one chapter, please. 

Fanfiction is allowed but all stories should be rated everyone, please.  And please make sure your entry follows Wattpad's Contest Guidelines prior to posting.
