Now...

Dan woke up on a bed, looking up at the white tiles of the ceiling and hearing faint beeps from an unknown object.
Where am I?
Dan couldn't tell. His eyes started to adjust, and he tried to sit up, crying out in pain the moment he tried. It was like his entire body was covered in hot coals, and he couldn't really breath.
"Are you up, Daniel?" A voice came from somewhere in front of him, but Dan couldn't see who it was. It'd been a while since someone called him by his real name. Dan groaned, and the unknown person came into view.
It was a petite, black woman with black hair tied up in a bun. She was beautiful,  a flawless face and eyes that sparkled. She was in scrubs and holding a clipboard, and Dan realized where he was.
"Do you remember anything?" She asked, a singsong-like voice. She raised the bed so Dan didn't have to move, but could still sit up. He took a look around, but he was closed off by blue checkered drapes. He found the source of the beeping, a heart monitor next to his bed. He hadn't noticed the wires connected to his body.
Dan looked back up at the woman. "No," he said, his voice hoarse. What had happened to him?"
The nurse smiled sympathetically. "You were in an accident, Mr. Howell." Dan blinked. "You were in the passenger seat, your friend-"
He interrupted her. "Phil." His eyes widened, and he stared at the nurse. "My friend, Phil. Is he okay?" Dan asked hurriedly, a little too much emotion escaping his lips.
The nurse smiled again. "He's holding on, he'll be okay."
Dan shook his head. Holding on? "What's that supposed to mean?" He asked her, and her smile faded slightly from her lips.
She looked down at her clipboard and sighed. "Phil Lester is, well, in a fragile state." Seeing Dan's worried expression, she shook her head encouragingly. "No, don't worry! He's fine! He appears to have broken his ribs, but we can mend them, and he's doing great. He'll be out of here in no time, just like you!" She assured, but Dan was still upset. Did Phil crash the car on purpose? What had actually happened to them?
The nurse then sat down and did some tests, like making sure he could see and still remember what year it was. The usual, after-impact tests.
After she left, Dan couldn't help but stare out the door into the hall. Phil was somewhere here, in pain and unable to heal himself.
And Dan was going to find him.

"Ricky! Take a look at this!"
The blonde headed man peered into the room, spotting his scruffy partner.
Ricky walked over to their demon monitor, and inspected it.
"I mean, we knew it was acting like a storm system, but this- this is huge." Alfie said, watching the table.
Ricky nodded, his eyes decoding every inch of the board. "We'd better get ready." He said, turning to Alfie, who nodded in agreement.
The two exited the room, leaving the board as the only light source in the room.
There was a cluster of red demon light brighter than the sun, thick enough to cover a 50 mile radius.
And it was surrounding them.
