Argument for a Literal Genesis, Part Four: The One About the Ice Age

The sun is responsible for 99.9% of our planet's energy. Therefore, if sunlight were prevented, even in part, from entering our lower atmosphere, the results would be devastating. One only need to look at large volcanic eruptions in our not so distant past to learn of how the ashes and gasses emitted in our atmosphere resulted in darker days, colder seasons, and even famine. It is quite possible that volcanoes, not the Milankovitch cycle (the effects of which would likely be too small to cause an ice age and lacking in evidence of the regularly recurring ice age it demands in the geological column) were responsible for the Ice Age.

After Noah's flood, the world would be recovering from a massive catastrophic event, and because of the nature of the waters bursting out from inside the earth, plate tectonics would be especially upheaved. Naturally, many super volcanoes would be active during this time, which we have evidence in massive spreads of volcanic rock that surrounds many volcanoes that today cannot reach that far. All the ash and gasses from the volcanoes would darken the sky, and where small amounts can be devastating, large amounts would be catastrophic; blocking out enough of the sun to cause the Ice Age, even.
