That the Bible tells us about God is something that most Christians will agree about. That nature tells us about God can lead to dispute. However, the Bible clearly tells us that God is the creator of the world and that the heavens declare His handiwork; thus one can deduce that whatever God says about His own creation in His Word is true- especially since God is Truth. The first modern scientists understood that and almost all were either Christians or Deists who saw science as a way of 'thinking God's thoughts after Him.' In fact, the Christianized western culture is the only culture that has encouraged the study of science because it has no importance in other religions (for instance, Hinduism is so strongly controlled by Karma and the caste system that they don't seek to rise above menial labor with technology because that is their place). Only in the last century or two has the science that Christianity has given birth to turned against its mother, creating any 'theory' that can take God out of the equation, either with evolution, an old earth, or the idea of the universe creating itself. Yet if one wipes away such ideas like non-essential cobwebs, one finds clear evidence of design.

And a clarification:

Yes, science has been around since the Adam began classifying the animals, and the ancients were in no means stupid and made several advances in scientific fields. I didn't mean to contradict that; what I meant in my thread was Christians made possible was modern science, the science that helped pull Europe away from alchemy and out of the dark ages that happened when we forgot the ancients' discoveries. The modern science approach greatly affects how we approach science now (like the scientific method).
