Ch.7: The Artist
"Very well then."
Sonic goes back to the door and holds the doorknob. He looks at Amy and then at Shadow and very calmly he speaks up again.
"Shadow hid in the closet."
"What?"
Without any other warning, Sonic opens the door and immediately, reporters and paparazzi's that were waiting outside the room started to take pictures of him. Shoving voice records close to him and asking questions.
"I am sorry guys, my girlfriend and I didn't get enough sleep last night so she is not looking very appropriate right now," Sonic then comically covered his mouth with one hand. "Oops, did I just say girlfriend?"
"Sonic the Hedgehog has a girlfriend?!" One of the reporters asks out loud in disbelief, and with that, the media crowd starts to get more agitated.
"Who is she?"
"Tell us her name?"
"Is she a famous actress too?"
The blue hedgehog then looks at the two other hedgehogs who were still in bed and Shadow immediately knew what Sonic is trying to do.
How humiliating, nonetheless Shadow uses his speed to go hide in the closet. Leaving Amy alone in bed.
Yes the whole 'Amy and I' are dating was just to get to Sonic's nerve but Shadow did not mean it. Shadow could not risk people believing that they were a thing. Especially when they were still in Acorn castle and Sally might hear of this.
"I think it's time we make it public," Sonic opens the door wide open and lets the paparazzi inside the room. Immediately starting to take pictures of the pink hedgehog in bed. Unknown to them, Shadow the Hedgehog was in the closet.
"Amy Rose and I are dating!"
She is internally screaming. For two reasons mostly. One is that her being in bed and looking terrible can imply many things for the media to interpret. Second, Sonic the Hedgehog, just said that they were dating.
Could he stop for a moment playing with her heart?
"We need all the details! Interview live on TV!"
"Pictures! When did you start dating?"
"Do you plan to get married soon?"
Question after question. Picture after picture. Sonic couldn't answer any of them as he is more focused on how Amy is not looking too comfortable with the pictures. Maybe this is not such a good idea.
Using his super speed, Sonic quickly goes to the bed and picks up Amy. He didn't hesitate to go to the balcony and stand on the edge.
"Sorry yall, gotta go get breakfast with my girl. Let's schedule something for later alright?"
Sonic then smiles at Amy and at this Amy knew exactly what the blue is planning on doing.
"Sonic, I swear if you jump, I'll-"
But before she could finish her sentence, Sonic had already jumped off the balcony and landed perfectly on the ground. Running off into the distance.
"Everyone let's follow them!"
The paparazzi's and reports left the room immediately and after making sure no one was there, Shadow finally came out of the closet.
As he is finally alone. He took a moment to recollect his thoughts and all that came to mind is what a waste of time all of this is.
"Did you have fun last night?"
Shadow couldn't have a single minute of peace. He is completely speechless. And feels heavy the moment he hears her voice.
"When Amy asked me for an invitation for you, I thought I would see you," Sally says. "I was a bit disappointed when I didn't see you at the dance ball."
No words.
"Did you and Amy at least have fun?"
As much as he couldn't speak, he won't allow Sally to think that something is going on between Amy and him.
"We just drank wine together ... we are friends."
She just smiles immediately after Shadow says 'friend' It came so naturally to him. Before Shadow wouldn't even dare to think of the idea of having friends.
"Yeah ... just friends," Sally looks over to the balcony where she can see the different empty wine bottles. She didn't want to ask anymore, she knew perfectly that Shadow won't say anything else.
"How are Rouge and Omega?"
The famous actor is feeling nervous as the Princess elegantly walks across the room. Sally is wearing a purple long dress that shows her bare back. Nothing too revealing and she looks comfortable in it.
"Rouge is doing fine. Omega has had a few repairments but he is fine ... for now."
"And you?" She asks and makes a stop in front of him.
There is no way for him to run nor a way for him to take a few steps back. The bed is behind him but maybe if he tries he could copy Sonic and just jump off the tower.
"Me?"
"Yes ... How are you doing?"
Her voice is gentle, to the extent that it made Shadow's heartache. With so much regret, with all the things he wanted to say but never could.
And he never will.
"I ... I've been fine."
"Are you sure-"
"Until I found out that you are to be engaged."
He didn't even let her finish her sentence. Shadow wanted some type of reaction from her. But she's stoic. Already has accepted her faith.
The sunlight starts to get into the room. Small birds resting on the balcony, gifting both of them a beautiful song. But Shadow heard nothing as all his attention is on Sally and her angelical presence.
"Yes, I have to."
"I am sorry I couldn't be an option," he says. He feels pathetic and humiliated but his voice reached the deepest part of Sally's heart. "I am sorry I couldn't be the hero you needed me to be."
"I need no hero ... I am getting engaged because that's what my kingdom needs," she sits next to him on the edge of the bed. The Princess didn't want to sound hurt much less if it seems that caused Shadow anxiousness. "I am doing this out of love for my people ... and I am happy to do it."
For her people. For the love she has for them. Or is it responsibility? A question Shadow will never have an answer to.
Maybe she is the right one, maybe the perfect one for him. Tragically, they were born in different circumstances. Maybe in another life, they will meet again.
But then again that's the type of fantasy people who read fanfiction like to believe.
And he for once ... is a strong believer.
"Do you know why that day ... When I had collected all the Chaos Emerald, I didn't resuscitate Maria?"
His tone of voice had changed. It's softer but it trembles. Shadow is shy even when he doesn't like to admit it.
"It has always been a mystery to me."
"It's because I was selfish," Shadow proceeds to gently hold her hand. Too afraid that he might hurt her. "To resuscitate a soul, the Chaos Emeralds asks for another soul ... the soul of the one that is asking for the wish."
"I was not afraid to die, I would have done the exchange but I was selfish."
He takes a moment of silence and finally looks Sally straight in the eyes. With so much admiration and love that would make the princess fall to her knees.
"Because I wanted to live ... I wanted to live and spend as much time as I could with you."
It's not a perfect declaration of love. But it is something. It holds meaning. A meaning Sally was too late to understand.
"Do you regret it? Not doing it?" she asks as she holds his hands in return.
"Seeing you again made all of my doubts go away."
She smiles.
And Shadow feels reassured again.
After a few seconds, the famous actor stands up and lets go of her. She doesn't follow him. Sally knows it's for the best. To end things with good memories.
But before he leaves, he makes a stop at the door and looks back at the Princess who is anxious to hear him speak again.
"Do you remember those times we would go to the city and watch those fancy plays?"
She nods.
"I always hated them."
This comes as a surprise to her. She always imagined that the reason why Shadow started an acting career was that he felt inspired by watching theater plays.
"But you were always so eager to go see them with me."
"Seeing plays always made you smile. And I was eager to see that."
"Shadow," her voice came out like a whisper. Out of the sincere feelings she had for a dear old friend.
"Goodbye Sally ... I wish you happiness."
And as he leaves, the memory of Sally smiling as the actors entered the theater's stage is engraved on his mind.
The only thing Shadow could hope for was that in some way or another ... his acting could make Sally smile.
And if that's the case ... then it was all worth it.
.
.
.
Back on Ancient Island, things were as normal as they could be.
Eggman attacked but it wasn't much of a mess. Team Sonic was still tired from the trip and they didn't want to play around for too long with the mad scientist.
A week passed in which Amy and Sonic had not talked.
During the week, Sonic has tried multiple times to talk with Amy. But she's been busy thinking.
Well ... She is avoiding him.
Besides that, she's just been busy reading and re-reading a contract.
She doesn't have enough to get a lawyer to proofread this so she's gotta make sure everything is good before she signs it. After all, if she's going to write for a TV show, she has to at least get some profit right?
Alright, another lie.
If she signs a contract she would have to sign with her real name. Then, her secret would be out.
And if she doesn't sign she will still be sued.
Her hands are tied.
"IT IS CONFIRMED BY SONIC THE HEDGEHOG HIMSELF THAT HE IS DATING AMY ROSE."
All the new tabloids and TV gossip shows were talking about it. The people on the island didn't care too much about it. According to most of them, 'they already knew about it.'
Tails, Knuckles, and Sticks knew the truth. That they were not dating and Sonic told that lie so the reporters wouldn't write a fake story about Amy being an alcoholic.
Still, it wasn't nice reading about what Sonic fangirls think of her.
And The Fanfictioner has not responded since then.
He is probably angry that she didn't show up to their meeting. Amy regrets it. Maybe he could have been of help to fix this whole mess. But now it's too late and she can't bring himself to send him another message. The last thing she wants is to annoy him.
With an open laptop and documents in her hands, she takes a big sigh. This is a risk but it's worth a try. Her fanfic 'First Impressions' is still underwork and may take a while to finish. Nonetheless, she already has an idea of how to end it.
Maybe a rough draft of a story outline should be enough.
And if not ...
.
.
.
It's script reading day.
Strangely enough, Shadow is on time. Sonic is as well. But the whole air feels heavy and uncomfortable. They have been on break for far too long and behind schedule.
What everyone is expecting today is whether or not everyone is going to be acting on a fanfiction or not.
And Amy already knew the answer to that.
"Alright, folks. We have good and bad news."
Mr.Jonhnson, the director, puts down a file of papers on the large conference table. He looks at everyone in silence, waiting for someone to speak up and decide what to hear first.
"What is the bad news?" Sticks asks. She takes a quick look at everyone and she could sense some discomfort coming from Sonic and Amy.
"Bad news is that we don't have the fanfic writer on board." Mr. Johnson says.
"I am not acting on this then," Shadow quickly stands up from his chair, ready to walk out but Mr. Johnson speaks up again.
"But the good news is that the writer allowed us to use her fanfic for the show and even gave us a complete story outline of how they plan to continue and conclude the story."
Hearing that, Shadow quickly turns around and goes back to his seat.
"What?"
"A few days ago we received a package in the mail. There was no sender address but they provided enough proof that they were the writer. They will write for us as long as they stay anonymous."
After being serious for a few seconds, the director smiles and the sight is so strange to everyone that they were terrified. Probably this is the first time they see him smiling like this.
"Of course, we will make some changes to make the fanfic adaptable to the small screen but besides that ... We are ready to start recording," he says. "Any objections?"
Everyone stays silent and Tails expected some type of backlash coming from his best friend. But the Blue Blur was quiet and relax. He is probably feeling too safe ever since he made it public that he and Amy are 'dating'.
"Just so we are clear," Shadow speaks up but looks down at the table. Not looking at anything in particular, just the table. "We will be acting ... First Impressions ... The fanfic ... and I'll be playing Shadow as Shadow from the fanfic, right?"
There we go. Shadow is unable to speak words because of his anger. Frustration. And as he slowly stands up from his chair, his hands tremble and his eyes darken.
"Um, yes. If you want we can talk about a rise in pay-"
But before Mr. Johnson could finish his sentence, Shadow interrupts him.
"I just need a minute."
Shadow leaves the conference room and right after he closes the door behind him ...
He jumps and punches the air. Whispering a 'Hell, yes!' So no one could hear him. Moving around the whole hallway in pure excitement. He doesn't know how he is containing himself because all he wants is to scream and jump.
The famous actor can't believe it.
He will be acting out his favorite fanfiction.
Meanwhile, inside the room, Amy thinks she might be going crazy.
She could have sworn she saw Shadow's tail wiggle as he left the room.
.
.
.
Eating at Meh Burger has become rather uncomfortable. Tails, Sticks, and Knuckles are just looking at each other. The sound of chewing and sipping drinks could be heard.
Hating the silence, Knuckles decides to speak up.
"Anyways, since we will be starting to record next week, I think it would be a good idea to get together and read First Impressions?"
Amy coughs and chokes on her food. Sticks give her a few pats behind her back as the pink one drinks from her water.
"You ok there Ames?" Sonic asks and she just nods. It's even more awkward ever since they made their 'relationship' public. But it's not only that. It is about what they talked about after that she still can't process.
"Yes, I am alright."
Her actions made Tails wonder about what exactly happened back in Acorn Castle. He knew that Sonic made up the dating lie to protect Amy's reputation. Tails made a mental note to talk to Sonic about this later.
There were a few whispers from other tables. Sonic Team knew that the customers around weren't talking about them. But more about the dark hedgehog approaching them.
Shadow the Hedgehog appears at the restaurant. Wearing a black jacket and shades. He holds a script in hand. Slowly, he approaches Amy's table and taps her shoulder with a rolled script.
"Let's go practice our lines. Now," he says, pretending he doesn't know the other Mobians at the table.
"But I haven't finished eating," Amy replies. She is not too happy with Shadow either. Telling Sonic that they were dating just to get him 'jealous' because Sally prefers him was a low hit in Amy's opinion.
"I won't be available until recording day. This is our last chance," very quickly Shadow looks around the table and then back at Amy. "Let's go."
He leaves, knowing very well that Amy will be following him regardless.
.
.
.
"No, no ...NO!" Shadow raises his hand in desperation. "You have to be angry! Boom Shadow is an asshole and mean to you in this section. Show you are angry!"
"Actually, I think Boom Amy is more disappointed than angry," Amy wants to smack her face with the heavy script. It's annoying how Shadow thinks he knows better than her about the characters when she literally wrote them. "Since when do you know so much about Amy's character uh? What? Do you spend your writing character analysis?"
"No, but I've read multiple fanfics."
That's what Shadow wanted to say but of course, he never will.
"I just take my job seriously. And you should start too."
As strange as it is. Amy didn't feel uncomfortable around Shadow. Maybe because the two accepted things as how they happened. Or more like nothing happened. They were drunk and they didn't remember a thing. This is better because Amy didn't want to remember how she probably embarrassed herself in front of Shadow.
The sunsets on Emerald beach were the most beautiful ones. As the sun goes down and hides in the horizon, the light reflects on the ocean water and makes it shine like an emerald, hence the name. So shiny that one could assume that the water was made of stars.
But as beautiful as the ocean is, Shadow couldn't take his eyes off, Amy.
"Alright, what is going on?" Shadow asks as he stands in front of the pink hedgehog. She is sitting on the white sand, something Shadow hates. He just doesn't like the feeling of sand stuck on his fur. "And don't say nothing, I know you better than that."
Amy looks up at Shadow. He is serious about this and the worse part is that he is right. She hasn't been herself and this is been affecting not only her personal life but her acting as well.
"The day we left Acorn City, after Sonic announced we were 'together' to the paparazzi," she pauses and prays to Chaos that Shadow won't laugh at her. "He and I talked and well ... I am just confused and it's probably just me that I am overthinking things."
But Shadow said nothing. He simply stands in front of her. And the more he looks at her, the more Amy feels forced to speak.
"Sonic said not to worry about it. That people were always assuming that me and him were dating," she says. " And then he said ... 'We might as well make the rumors true."
"And I know, he was probably just teasing me and he would actually never mean it but-"
"But you wished he meant it, don't you?"
Shadow finally decides to sit on the sand. Hating the feeling of the sand but enjoying sitting close to Amy.
"It's not only that ... He knows ... He knows I like him, or used to. It doesn't matter," Amy looks away, embarrassed to see Shadow face to face. "Why did he have to play with my feelings like that?"
"Amy, I think you are exaggerating a little-"
Suddenly, she turns her head to face him. Pink flushed cheeks, green eyes that could start crying at any second. Her face is very close to his and until now he realizes how beautiful she could truly be.
"You will never understand how it feels to have your feelings turned into a joke! For your love to be taken so lightly that the person you love uses it to make fun of you!" Amy screams at him, forgetting how embarrassed she was moments ago. "And I am tired! Tired that Sonic will never take my feelings for him seriously-"
"That's good," Shadow interrupts her and picks up his script again. "That's is. That's how you have to act. You are right, Boom Amy is not angry. She is sad in this scene with Boom Shadow-"
"Are you even listening?!"
Now she is infuriated. She punched Shadow in the shoulder and although to the normal Mobian the punch must have hurt like hell, to him it didn't hurt ... Not that much at least.
"I am, but let's be honest with each other. You'll still like him no matter what I say."
"And what would you say?" she asks, wiping away a few tears.
"I would say you are wasting your time and that you are too much for someone like him."
Slowly, her anger diminish. She looks at Shadow, his serious expression lets her know he is not joking around. There's not even space for teasing. And for once, she is content to see that Shadow could bring some comfort even if he didn't know how to do it properly.
"Could you expand on the part of 'too much?"
The sun is slowly fading into the horizon. The last strand of light is so much more powerful than any other. The water shines and Shadow could only think how he ever lived without this sunset.
And still, the beautiful shining sea could not compare to the beauty of Amy's green eyes.
"You are a somewhat talented and ok-looking woman ... You deserve better."
There is only one person to blame and that is Amy for expecting too much. Especially for Shadow who can't articulate feelings well at all. But Amy for Amy this is a win.
"You know, I don't know if I should take that as an offense or a compliment."
"Definitely a compliment. The last person I gave a compliment to was Rouge, and I told her that her best quality was to gossip."
Amy laughs and covers her mouth. She never saw her smiling face as appealing but Shadow finds this a bit cute. On the other hand, Amy didn't think Shadow could have a sense of humor. Either that or Shadow is funny without noticing.
"You told Rouge the Bat that she was good at gossip?" Amy asks as she unconsciously gets closer to Shadow. Maybe because it was getting colder, but she didn't think about it too much. It just feels right.
"She is! She knows every single little thing. No matter how minimum it is, she knows!" He says as he looks at Amy who is rubbing her hands up and down her arms. "It's like an obsession. She never stops until she finds out the truth."
Shadow takes off his jacket and drops it on top of Amy's head. She should really start bringing her own. But for now, he doesn't care too much. At such an unsubtle act, Amy had the right to be angry but instead took this as an opportunity to not be cold anymore.
"You really have a way with words uh? I honestly can't believe you are so popular with the girls."
But she knew actually. That although Shadow wasn't the best with words, he had a way with his kind actions ... sometimes.
"It's my good looks and amazing personality, they do all the work for me."
This time is a loud laugh. A historical, tear-inducing laugh. One of those is when the person is laughing at the person and not with them. Instead of putting on Shadow's jacket, she just continues to laugh and throws it to the side.
And this didn't please Shadow at all.
"You know, I still kinda hate you."
"Yeah, I hate you too."
This only made Shadow angrier, unknown to Amy.
"Let's practice some other time. Omega wants to play video games tonight and I need to spend time with someone civilized."
Shadow stands up from the sand. Hating again the feeling of it on his fur. Patting his hands against his legs to try and get rid of the excess. He takes away the jacket in a harsh move and this makes Amy notice something is wrong.
"Oh, so I am not civilized enough?"
"Well, you are not the regular type of people I like to socialize with."
The sun had finally disappeared. All sign of light is gone. Now there is only darkness and the stars that are visible and bright.
All of Amy's hope went down the drain as she realized that Shadow is not going to change easily. He can be nice. But he can also be a jerk ... more of a jerk than nice.
"Socialize? Since when do gloomy and narcissistic hedgehogs like to socialize?" Amy stands up and cleans off the sand from her dress.
"Since people like you became annoying and insufferable."
The pink actress didn't know what bothered her the most. Not knowing what she did to make Shadow angry or Shadow's sudden outbursts of arrogance.
"Ugh, I can't believe that I thought you were a decent, nice hedgehog for a second!"
"And I can't believe we were friends."
Their cheeks went red. Both of them feel embarrassed and uncomfortable by Shadow's words. They didn't even know a friendship existed between the two. It's more of an unspoken agreement that the two were civil toward each other because of their work. But hearing the words 'friends' again reminded them of the drunk night they spent together.
Of how fun it was and how close they became. A day none of them would want to talk about again.
"Forget I said that," Shadow says as he turns around and begins to walk away.
"Roger that," Amy does the same, still with flustered cheeks.
They both part ways.
And it's cold.
Amy feels her head being hit with something. She quickly turns around, ready to explode in irritation. But next to her is Shadow's leather jacket.
He is cold too. Amy could tell because his ears are down and his shoulders are trembling a little.
But Amy does not stop, leaving Shadow to walk away with his pride.
"Idiot, idiot, idiot," she whispers to herself, hating the feeling of embarrassment that took over her body. "Why can't I stop being so awkward?"
"Idiot, idiot, idiot," Shadow mentally smacks himself in the face, not daring to turn around and see that Amy is wearing his jacket.
"Why can't I stop being so mean to her?"
.
.
.
"And then, their lips touch."
"You gotta be kidding me," Sonic says. "Shadow and Amy will kiss?"
Tails puts down his phone and looks at Sonic in the comfort of his hammock.
"I mean we are re-creating a fanfiction ... A very risky thing to do on the production team. Considering the fic is not even finished," Tails takes a quick stretch. They have been reading for the last two hours and although Sonic's sofa is comfortable, he was in the same position for a long period of time.
"But I guess recording one chapter once a month should give the writer enough time to-"
"Why do we have to act on a ShadAmy fanfiction? Why not a SonAmy one?" the blue bur interrupts the yellow fox and sighs before stressing again. "It's the best ship!"
"A ship doesn't have to be the best ... it just gotta sell," Tails is not stupid. He knows that Sonic's annoyance is because he dislikes the idea of Amy with someone else that is not him. "Or do you think the TV production cares enough to work for the arts?"
There is no answer to his question. Just silence.
"But I gotta admit, I like the interpretation of my character on this fic," Tails proceed, hoping to get some type of reaction. But there's none. "Sonic?"
"Amy's been avoiding me," Sonic says. Plain and simple.
He is not one to show his emotions either. But Tails knows his blue hedgehog better than anyone. It's not like him to be this serious and it's definitely not like him to be this distressed.
"Yeah, I noticed you two have been weird towards each other lately," Tails puts his phone away. Making a mental note to keep reading the fanfic before he goes to sleep. "Is it because of the lie you told the reporters?"
"No, I don't think so. After all, people always think we are dating anyways," Sonic sits on his hammock and looks at Tails. He sensed that Tails might worry so tries to act normal again. "I think she has been spending too much time with Shadow. Maybe that's affecting her."
"... Are you jealous?" Tails raises his eyebrows and smiles, teasing Sonic.
"Me? Of course not!" But Sonic knows that no matter how much he tries to hide it, Tails could see through him. "Well, maybe a little."
Tails wanted to continue to tease Sonic but seeing his sad vulnerability is not something the fox boy is fond of.
"The only thing I can say is that you don't want to be like this fanfic's Sonic and miss your chance."
There are a few seconds of silence and Sonic did not say a single word.
.
.
.
It's shooting day and Shadow has not stopped looking at her. It's like he is studying her. Her facial features, her body, and her movements. Shadow then would write in his notebook. Or is he drawing? Amy decides it's the first option. It's probably acting notes or just things he hates about her.
"Alright everyone the props I ordered is not here on time so let's start recording from page 32," Mr. Johnson, the director, signals everyone to get into the set. "Just so everyone is on top of this, Shadow and Amy are fighting and Shadow pins her against the wall."
They were filming in the depts of Ancient Forest. A place not many dared to go into alone as legend says that adventuring alone into the forest will certainly disappear the individual.
"I can't believe I wrote that," Amy thinks as she slowly makes her way into the set area. Not very different from where she is, the only difference is that the trees are less predominant in that era and it allowed more sunlight to go through.
Now she stands in front of Shadow. Feeling intimidated by his presence. She could tell that he is in character. She feels the anger radiating off him and Amy didn't know how in the world she could be standing on her two feet right this moment.
"Lights, cameras and ... Action!"
They start to record and Amy snapped out of her trance. No longer she feels scared of the hedgehog in front of her ... maybe just a bit.
"Oh, so now I have to do everything you say?" she walks past him and bumps into his shoulder. This was not in the script but Amy felt right doing it.
"If you did everything I said, we wouldn't be in this situation," Shadow continues and follows her movements with his eyes.
From afar, Sonic, Tails, Knuckles and Sticks were watching the two actors. Knuckles was having the time of his life, reciting the lines of the characters as she knew them by memory. Sticks is just watching the two actors do their magic. Tails is eyeing Sonic, knowing very well that his best friend is mad and jealous even if he doesn't show it much.
"What was I supposed to do then? You weren't even going to show up unless I agreed to give you the Chaos Emerald so I thought it was best if-"
Shadow takes Amy by her arms and pushes her against the nearest tree. He tried to be gentle so as not to hurt her but he also has to make it believable.
"You thought it was best to give it to Sonic and he lost it! Not only did he lose it but we don't know where he is! We don't know where anyone is and is all your fault!"
Her heart is beating fast, she is beginning to sweat. Shadow is so close to her that she can feel Shadow's breath against her lips. He smells good, like mints and soap. But she has to snap out of it fast.
"How was I supposed to know he would disappear?"
And Shadow gets closer, slowly. Aiming to touch his lips against hers but instead slowly goes to whisper into her ear. There is a sweet malicious sound in his voice. One that is tempting and cruel at the same time. And it hurts all the way more.
"That's just not an excuse. I know you did it because you have feelings for him. And you are stupid to believe in him."
And she doesn't know why but her throat starts to hurt. Unable to contain the tears forming in her eyes. Why did it hurt so much? It's all fake. He doesn't mean ... does he?
She hated how real this feels. And somewhat she feels like Shadow is playing with her feelings and making a fool out for her. Of course, he believes it. He believes she is stupid and that's what hurts. That someone who she has always admired sees her as that.
A fool.
Shadow is perplexed. For the first time in his career, he feels so belittled by a co-worker. He likes to think this is acting, it must be. But he hates it. Whether she is acting or not, the single fact is that he hates seeing Amy cry.
And he does not know how to react.
"Would you stop crying?!"
But he says that way too loud. Screaming as if he is angry but in reality, is just him being extremely anxious and desperate to make Amy stop crying.
"That's it, I am going to-"
But Sonic takes this the wrong way and is ready to jump to the scene to punch Shadow in the face. But Tails stops him.
"And cut!" the director says out loud and the cameras quickly turn away from the two actors.
"What are you doing? Amy doesn't cry until Shadow says 'you know he will never love you.'"
He walks a few steps away from Amy, thinking that it's better to give her space even when all Amy wants is to hear some words of comfort from Shadow.
"Oh, sorry," she sniffs and cleans her nose "I think I did it too early."
The famous actor does not say a word and instead just walks away. It didn't take him long before coming back to Amy with a handkerchief.
Instead of giving it to her, he decides to clean her face. Using one side of the handkerchief to clean her eyes, poking them.
"Ouch! My eye!" Amy says as she moves away Shadow.
"Well damn stop moving!" Shadow shoves the handkerchief info into her face. Grabbing her by the chin and making her look up to clean up her nose and tears. He feels so much better now that she has stopped crying.
"I am impressed."
"Uh?"
Amy did not hear him right. It was a small whisper mostly Shadow talking to himself.
And as she was about to ask to repeat himself, they were interrupted.
"Alright everyone, let's take everything from the top again."
.
.
.
After a long day of rest, all Amy wants to do is go to her home and sleep. And that's exactly what she did, except that she did not sleep. Instead, she starts to right her new chapter for 'First Impressions' feeling inspired by Shadow's acting earlier.
Being on her sofa, her laptop on her lap, coffee aside and being cuddled with blankets is the closest thing Amy could think of as a perfect moment. Nothing could go better.
But her phone rings.
TheFanfictioner#0619: Hey, don't worry about not showing up. I couldn't make it either. I was caught up in something. Sorry I have been absent. I am kinda going through a breakup.
Finally, he answered. After weeks of not knowing anything about him. Amy did not hesitate to respond to him immediately.
ARoseWithoutTorns#0923: I am so sorry to hear that! I didn't know you had a girlfriend.
TheFanfictioner#0619: Well she was not my girlfriend. She did not reciprocate my feelings but ... I liked her a lot. And I just needed some time to try and clear my mind.
There were so many questions she wants to ask. But she feels like asking too much would invade his privacy and she didn't want to make him feel uncomfortable either. She thinks that if The Fanfictioner wants to tell her more, he will eventually.
ARoseWithoutTorns#0923: I am really sorry to hear that. I hope you feel better.
There is a small waiting period in which Amy just sees dots appear on the screen. Meaning that he is typing. And after a few minutes, he responds.
TheFanfictioner#0619: I do feel better. Something good happen lately. And because I feel inspired, so here ... I am not the best artist but I tried my very best and I hope you like it.
And there it is.
Ten comic pages based of her fanfic.
And In the other side of the village, an unknown place to most ... Shadow is on his phone, texting to ARoseWithoutTorns not knowing that she is no other than Amy Rose. He sends the comic pages he drew to her with the hope that she will like them
Little did Shadow know that not only will Amy love it ... but the whole world will be at awe with his artwork.

A/N: Ok now I really need to start finishing writing my AOT fic if I want to dedicate most of time to this story.
Sorry for the grammar errors and spelling, I am really drained after writing chapters so I don't usually check them again lol
I was supposed to post this chapter last week but I didn't like how it ended so I added 2k more words and the total know its 6.3k words for this chapter.
Again, thank you for all the comments and support. I always like to re-read comments to keep me motivate and keep the creative juices flowing.
Sorry if I don't reply to all the comments. But I will get back to you all. I just prefer to use that time to keep writing so you can read more.
Anyways, what are you predictions? I think I already know how I will end season 1 of this story ... but will still like to hear you all's thoughts!
Thank you!!!
