Love and Thunder and Objectification

Thor: Love and Thunder 's latest trailer dropped a few days ago and I still don't care about the movie, but I hope it's as entertaining as the last solo Thor movie. On the first watch, me and my sister couldn't stop laughing.

But here's the thing. It's as if Marvel HAS to objectify someone or else they'll explode. After the fans and Elizabeth Olsen complained about her costume, she got a better one. Still, many people argued that Olsen shouldn't complain because she has worn more revealing clothes because they can't separate one character from another and real life. Wanda Maximoff ended up being wildly sexualized, even when she was underage. That's not okay.

Then came Peter Parker. Marvel couldn't stop having him half-naked in the movies. I believe Holland was underage while shooting the first movie, but I could be wrong.

I'm not going to talk about the bad writing for many female characters because it just hurts.

But I am going to say that Black Widow, one of the original avengers, got her solo movie YEARS after everyone else and it was only half-good. And of course she was treated so poorly at first.

Back to Love and Thunder. There seem to be many scenes in which Thor is shirtless, and while I have a suspicion that they exist just to have people pine over him, they don't bother me because Thor chooses not to wear a shirt. But that scene in which someone zaps his clothes off? THAT'S bad. Really bad.

I imagine the writers being like "Hey, we can have Thor be naked in front of many people and Valkyrie and Jane can gawk at him and not help him because they like what they say. The women will love this because female characters get involuntarily undressed in movies a lot, so that's like equality or something."

No, dear writers. That's not it.

I made the mistake of joining a marvel group. Some bright men post things like "Aaaah what I would do to you" for female characters, and mostly the classic "things I would ride in Marvel", except one of the pictures isn't a vehicle. I complained about this, and so did a few other girls, and their response was "you guys can post similar stuff about thor or whoever you like, it's cool".

I'm not saying people aren't allowed to have a crush on actors or movie characters, but they can always be respectful about it.

My thoughts are all over the place because I should be sleeping now but I wanted to write here lol.

Does anyone know a good korean series by any chance?

See you soon!
