Chapter 3: Strange Rivalries
I gasped as I stepped through the doors. It was huge! It was... How do I describe it? Oh, yes. Bigger on the inside. Yeah.
Anyways, the room I entered was like a living room. There were couches, a couple TVs, and a bunch of kids talking. But there were details that made it not seem like a living room. For one thing, the walls were lined with bookshelves. When I looked closer though, I noticed they were all by Rick Riordan.
"Hey there!" A voice yelled behind me. I jumped, and almost screamed. I turned and saw a girl, roughly my age. "Oh! Sorry," she said, blushing. She held out her hand. "Uh, I'm Patty."
"Persephone," I replied, shaking her hand. "Um, do you think you could show me around?"
"Sure!" Patty replied. "Where's your paper?" I handed her the small slip. "Ooh! You live right next door to me! We'll be neighbors!" She squealed.
"Oh, cool." She seemed nice enough. I looked around. Not many people here."Where is everybody?" I asked.
"Oh, this is only the Riordan wing. There are other wings too, like Twilight, Harry Potter, Divergent, and... The music wing." She shuddered. "Stay away from the music wing. It is utter chaos over there."
"Okay. So... my room?" I asked, perturbed.
"Oh. Right, sorry." She blushed again. "Um, come on. I'll give you a tour."
"No, you won't, Patty," a voice said from behind. "Last time you gave someone a tour, they got lost."
"Greg, that was one time," Patty replied, her smile disappearing, replaced with a scowl.
"Besides, Patty, you always lead them around. I want to do it." A young boy walked forward, about the same age as me. Cute, as far as boys go. Curly red hair, twinkly brown eyes. "I'm Greg," he said, bowing like a gentleman. "And you are?"
"Persephone," I replied, blushing. Why was I blushing?
"Beautiful name. So where would you like to go first? The cafeteria, the quiz room, the television room, or your room?"
"The cafeteria," I said, my stomach growling in agreement.
"As you wish." He took my hand and led me toward the cafeteria.
"So, what wing are you in? Please tell me you aren't in the music wing."
"I think I'm in the Riordan wing. What's wrong with the music wing?"
"You don't want to know."
We didn't talk much after that. We entered the cafeteria- which smelled heavenly- and I instantly went for food. I grabbed a helping of chocolate cake, chicken, cookies, green beans, and orange juice. Hey, don't judge my appetite, I didn't get lunch!
Everything tasted wonderful, but there was something... off about this place. I just couldn't figure out what. I turned and saw lots and lots and lots of tables in groups of four. Each table had a name and symbol. Here are a couple of them:
PJO/HoO 🔱
Kane Chronicles had a Wand
Divergent 👁
Hunger Games 🏹
Harry Potter had an owl
Twilight 🌙
That was only half of them! I went over to the PJO/HoO table and sat next to the girl I had met earlier. Was it Perry? No, Patty. "Hey, what's up?" she greeted me with a smile.
"Oh, not much. So what's the music wing?"
Greg rolled his eyes as he sat next to me. "So subtle, Persephone."
Patty stifled a laugh, but then looked at Greg strangely. "Why are you sitting at the PJO table? Shouldn't you be sitting with the magicians?" She asked, disgusted.
Greg scowled. "I'm part of this fandom too, Patty. You know that."
"Sure." Patty replied suspiciously, glaring at Greg, then turned to me. "So! PJO fandom, huh?" I nodded. "Yay! Maybe we'll be roomies!"
"Patty, you already have a roommate," Greg replied.
"So?"
"So, you can only have one roommate."
"Oh."
"So what's the big deal between you two?" I asked, taking a bite of the luscious, creamy cake.
"Fandom rivalries," a kid next to Patty explained, "Every fandom has one. Marvelers and DCs, Harry Potter and Twilight, etcetera."
"Huh." I ate in silence, listening to Greg and Patty argue. When I finished, I tapped Greg in the shoulder. "Where's my room? I'm so dam tired." Pun intended.
"Um..." he took out the slip I'd given him. "Follow me." I followed him down a confusing path of halls and stairs. It's like the labyrinth in here!
We stopped at a door with a pink trident. "Here you go."
I immediately saw the huge bed, but I didn't pay much attention to the rest of the room. I just jumped onto the bed and feel asleep.
I wonder who else I'd meet here?
