Walking distance

Jons POV

My car broke down 1 1/2 miles away from,
"Milburrow," I said, looking at the sign.

The guy working on it just looked at me, rubbing his hands with a cloth.
"Yeah, you go there before?" the mechanic asked his werewolf ears twitching.

"I used to live there; the fantastic place had amazing summers," I said, feeling nostalgia wash over me.
Visions of Bryan and me carving our names into the gazebo in the middle of town, Bryan getting scared we'd get caught, and of course, the caramel ice cream we got afterward.

"Well I got two things for you," the mechanic said, calling me out of the memory.

He handed me a receipt and said "One is you owe me 800 dollars." he then continued
"And it will take two hours for me to fix your car," he said, poking his watch.
I didn't say anything and just gave him his check, but then I said.
"Millburrow that's walking distance right?" the guy responded
"Maybe why, you planning on walking?" He said as I walked off just leaving him to work. I could faintly hear him speak.
"I swear in this heat in your clothes you would be hot the whole way," he said before.
"And I'm talking to myself."

I made it to Millburrow within an hour, and the place was full of people, and I made a stop in the diner the same one Bryan, and I went to when we were young.

The guy behind the counter was an older man he looked familiar, but I couldn't put my finger on it.
"What will it be?" he asked me cleaning the counter.

"Well do you still make that caramel Ice Cream?" I asked him hoping they didn't stop making it.

"We sure do Mister cone or bowl?" he asked, dropping the cloth.

"A bowl please to go," I said, looking around the room, it seemed the same from when I was a kid.

"Here you go have a beautiful day." the man said, handing me a Styrofoam bowl with ice cream in it.

I left with my ice cream and took a look around town; it was the same beautiful small town I grew up in after about ten minutes I finished my ice cream, and through the bowl away that's when I heard a voice say,
"Jon I'm scared," said a voice that sounded just like, Bryan when he was a kid
"Bryan comes on stop being a baby," said a voice that sounded like me.

I looked over from behind a tree and watched.

A younger me and Bryan were carving our names in the gazebo I didn't realize what was happening and out of Instinct I shouted,
"Hey, what are you doing!" when I shouted that the younger Bryan jumped and cried,
"It was his idea," he said, pointing at my younger self before running away.

"Bryan, you coward!" younger me shouted when he ran off.
For me, I just started at the kid looking over every feature, short, neat brown hair, black jacket over a white cotton shirt, and light blue jeans ripped up. The same outfit I wore the same day ten years ago.

The other me noticed me staring and just backed away from me.

"Hey wait," I shouted, running after him.

I chased him for an hour before I caught up with him on a Carousel in a carnival visiting that day I just ran up, and he jumped off of it.

I heard him scream, and I felt a terrible pain in my leg like it was being burned off, the ride stopped, and I had to limp away as a man and a woman took the younger me away.

I sat on a bench near the park when I saw the younger Bryan sit next to me.

"Is your friend gonna be ok?" I asked him the pain in my leg getting fainter.
"Doctor said he'd limp for the rest of his life, but he'd be ok." The younger Bryan said, calmly.

"How is your leg, jon?" younger Bryan asked.

I just looked at him surprised how did he know.
"You dropped your wallet, I took a look at the ID expires in 2020, don't worry I didn't steal anything," he said handing me my wallet I didn't even realize I dropped it.

"You won't tell anyone, right?" I asked, looking down at the little Bryan.
"I don't like anyone believe me if I did." Bryan said, getting off the bench.

I got off too not even feeling the pain.

"I got a car to get back to, and you have to get home." I said, leaving the little Bryan.

I walked back to the mechanic office to find the guy who was working on it was on the phone.
I was back on the present still limping I got into my car and drove off.

Submitted for your approval, a man was thrown into the past, and his actions ruined the past for himself, and the history of Millburrow is Catalogued in the twilight zone.
