Chapter 13
Veronica got into her car and buckled up. "Do you want dropped off at yours?"
"Yes please. I don't ever walk this much." Kellie sighed, sitting in the passenger seat and buckling her seatbelt.
Veronica nodded as she started up the engine and drove away. "Do you think Dan will be okay?"
"Yeah, I mean, how much has that boy been through and lived." Kellie said, leaning back in the seat.
"True." Veronica sighed. "One day he just might not be lucky, and that scares me.."
"Come on, he'll be fine! He just fell out of a tree and got out with ONLY a broken arm! He could have died." Kellie stated, waving her hands around.
"He's a daredevil. I guess so yeah." Veronica agreed. "At least it was only a broken arm..."
As they were talking and driving Veronica hadn't noticed that she'd past Kellie's home.
Kellie looked at Veronica. "Uhh.. Ronny?"
"Yeah Kel?" Veronica asked, keeping her eyes on the road.
"Look at where we are." Kellie said, noticing she was in the street next to hers.
Veronica looked around and realized she was not in the right place,"Oops... Sorry about that..."
Veronica reversed the car backwards and into the correct street this time. Kellie laughed it off.
"Hey, tell your dad I said hi." Kellie said, getting out of the car.
"I shall. Goodbye!" Veronica informed her, driving off down the road.
"Bye!" Kellie said before walking into chaos.
"KATIE, IM GOING TO KILL YOU!" Kasey yelled and jumped on top of the couch.
"Um....Am I interrupting something?" Kellie asked, eyeing her two younger sisters.
"No!" Katie yelled.
"Yes! Look at me!" Kasey yelled back.
Kasey was in her normal attire, minus a shirt.. She had on her sports bra.
"Katie has my shirt!" Kasey complained.
It was true. Katie had Kasey's yellow shirt in her hands.
"Come on Katie. Give Kasey her shirt back." Kellie demanded.
"Nu uh. If I was forced to wear a dress by her. Then I am not giving her this back." Katie argued back.
Kellie sighed,"Kasey. Did you force Katie to wear a dress?"
Kasey said nothing, she sat down on the couch and took a sip out of her cup.
"Right. Kasey apologize for putting Katie in a dress. You know she isn't comfortable in them." Kellie told her before turning to Katie,"And you! Give Kasey back her shirt."
Katie crossed her arms and waited for an apology.
"I'm sorry." Kasey said rolling her eyes.
Katie didn't give her shirt back, she just stayed still.
"Katie, give the shirt." Kellie encouraged her sister to return the taken shirt.
"It wasn't sincere." Katie looked at Kellie.
"It doesn't have to be sincere shortass." Kasey said.
Katie lunged at Kasey from where she was standing,"Say that again!"
"You're. A. Shortass!" Kasey yelled and moved out the way.
Kellie groaned as she walked out of the room,"I give up with you two!"
"Fight me!" Katie shouted, unintentionally revealing cat-like claws.
"I'm not fighting you!" Kasey said, noticing Kellie leaving. She grabbed her shoes and threw them at her.
"This seems like fighting!" Katie yelled, before noticing her claws,"What the fuck are these and how do I get rid of them?!"
"I don't know!" Kasey noticed the claws. "Ask your demon?!"
"Yo! Demon in my body! What the heck are these?" Katie asked Devlyn.
Devyln came through. "Oh, you guys aren't going to actually fight?" She asked in a sad tone.
"No!" Katie exclaimed, shaking her head at the thought,"Now, what are these and how do I get rid of them?!"
Devlyn sighed. "These are called claws. You are of the cat descendant." Devyln told her.
"How do I get rid of them?!" Katie questioned, moving her hands slowly.
"Its kinda like an automatic thing. You command them through your thoughts." Devlyn explained.
Katie didn't know what to do exactly. She thought for a second before thinking,"Um... Retract?" And almost instantly, the claws retracted.
"Hey, you did it." Kasey said, noticing the claws retract.
Noticing that she had done it, Katie let out a relieved sigh,"Thank you Demon!"
"Um... You can call me... Devlyn." Devlyn admitted quietly.
"Devlyn?" Katie asked. "That's your name?"
"Why else would I ask you to call me that?" Devlyn questioned.
"Well.. Okay good point." Katie nodded in response.
"That all you needed?" Devlyn asked.
"I think so. Thanks Devyln!" Katie said with a smile.
"Piece out bro!" Devlyn laughed, her voice fading out.
While Katie was talking to Devlyn, Kasey had made her way into the kitchen and she had ingredients out on the table.
"EEEEE!" Katie squeeled, running over to the table and chucking the shirt over Kasey's head,"CAKE TIME!"
Kasey threw the shirt off of her head before putting it back on with a smile, "Who said I was letting you help me?"
"I did!" Katie said,"Now, where's the recipe?"
"Um.." Kasey started looking around, lifting stuff up looking for one. But in the end, finding none. "In my head!"
"..." Katie stared at Kasey before grabbing a bowl,"Freehand! Let's go!"
"Yeah!" Kasey smiled, grabbing a spoon and some flour. "I remember it saying that we need.. Like two or three cups of flour."
"We'll go with three!" Katie stated, holding out the bowl.
"Sounds fine to me." Kasey didn't argue and she added the right amount of cups, "Do we have eggs?"
Katie walked over and opened the fridge,"Yeah, how many?"
"..Two?" Kasey guessed, walking over to Katie.
"Do you want a yellowy cake or a white cake?" Katie asked, getting the eggs.
"I don't know? You can decide." Kasey said, she was very indecisive at times.
"Well, we're going with yellow!" Katie announced,"Just use the whole egg, minus the shell!"
Kasey nodded and took the eggs from Katie, cracking them against the side of the bowl.
"Um...Maybe we should have put wet and dry ingredients separate... It doesn't matter! Add two and a half cups of sugar!" Katie yelled.
Kasey nodded and grabbed the sugar, not before slamming it down on the table, "THE RECIPE!" She yelled as she grabbed the recipe and held it in the air.
Katie grabbed the recipe, ripping it and shouting,"We're making our own recipe!'
"But.. That was.. Nevermind!" Kasey poured the sugar in.
"You! Stir!" Katie demanded as she got another bowl and poured a cup of water.
Kasey started stirring the ingredients together when she had an idea. She put her finger to the side of the bowl and took some flour, before throwing it at Katie laughing.
Katie, in response to this, filled up the cup with a little more water and pouring it over Kasey,"Come on! Let's pour these together!"
"You started a war buddy." Kasey warned Katie.
"War later. Cake now." Katie stated before grabbing a pot and putting it on her head,"Now, let's mix them!"
Kasey laughed and grabbed a pot aswell and putting it on her own head. "Don't forget to use upper arm strength young steed!" She started mixing.
"Wait... Where's the icing sugar?" Katie asked, looking around, realising that she couldn't see any.
"You're kidding me.." Kasey looked at Katie in shock.
Katie immediately pulled out her phone and started looking up how to make icing sugar.
"We're having an Oh no moment!" Kasey yelled, looking in the fridge.
"AHHH!! We made a ding dong!" Katie screamed grabbing vanilla extract, sugar, milk and water.
"Tell me what to DO!" Kasey yelled as she grabbed another bowl.
"Add the sugar and milk!" Katie shouted, tossing the ingredients at Kasey,"Then we add a few drops of this!"
Kasey nodded and added the ingredients into the bowl.
A muffled yell could be heard from the twins bedrooms. "Shut up!"
"I apologise for the noise but we're attempting to bake a cake!" Katie responded, adding a few drops of vanilla extract.
Kasey finished adding the ingredients before turning to Katie. "Now what?!"
All Katie did was hand Kasey the whisk.
Kasey looked at the whisk. "The fuck you want me to do with this?"
Katie sighed, grabbing the bowl and the whisk and starting to whisk the icing sugar,"This! This is what you do with it!"
"Oh, right!" Kasey said, taking the whisk and whisked the icing sugar.
As Kasey whisked, Katie poured the bowl of batter into a cake pan and placed it in the oven.
"My arm is sore.. How much longer?" Kasey asked, still whisking.
"Does it look like icing sugar yet? Does it taste like icing sugar yet? If not, keep whisking!" Katie informed her sister, setting the timer.
Kasey dipped her finger into the icing to taste it. "I guess it does?" Kasey asked herself.
"Right, place it in the fridge to keep it cool while we wait on the cake." Katie explained.
Kasey nodded and did what Katie had told her. Closing the fridge and washing her finger.
"Now." Katie started dramatically,"We clean."
"The best part! Minus the food." Kasey said, going into the cupboard and getting cleaning supplies.
"You're just saying that because you're a neat freak." Katie said, crossing her arms.
"So? Its better to be clean than dirty!" Kasey argued as she handed Katie a cloth.
"Meh." She said plainly as she began to clean the bowls.
Kasey started cleaning the worktop, getting rid of the ingredients. Katie got soap from the sink and carefully blew it onto Kasey's head.
Kazey weirdly didn't feel the soap on her head, just a cold breeze. "Just me or did it get colder?" Kasey asked as she continued cleaning the counters.
Katie acted innocent,"Maybe something got in through the windows. There is a storm on its way."
"I swear, if this storm messes up my hair." Kasey stood up properly and the soap started going down her back. "What the- KATIE!"
Katie shrugged,"Wasn't me."
"Then explain how you think it got here!" Kasey said, wiping the soap off of her with a towel.
"Magic!" Katie said, drying the utensils and bowls quickly.
"I'll magic your ass into a bottle of soap next time.." Kasey mumbled as she finished cleaning the counter.
"I know you love me." Katie stated, putting the dry things back into the cupboards.
"I risked my life for you, of course I love you." Kasey grabbed onto Katie and ran her hands through Katie's hair roughly.
"Ah fuck!" Katie yelped as Kasey ended up pulling her hair,"Don't touch my locks."
Kasey chuckled and let go of Katie. "How much longer 'til we can eat?"
BEEP BEEP BEEP!
"That's the cake done." Katie said, putting on oven gloves and taking out the cake pan,"No touchy!... God... I sound like dad..."
"A small touch wouldn't hurt.. Right?" Kasey said, eyeing the cake.
Then something happened that surprised both sisters. Katie hissed.
Kasey backed up into the wall surprised, "What the FUCK!?"
"I'm a cat! What did you expect when you try and eat the cake when it hasn't cooled or been iced!?" Katie snapped back.
"OoO~ she mad!" Apocalypse said, her usual low pitch was strangely higher.
Kasey heard Apocalypse, "She's never gotten like this before though! Yo, demon. You sound like you're going through puberty!" She laughed.
"Shut up! I have the power to take over you and make you fall off a cliff!" Apocalypse yelled.
Katie carefully removed the cake from the pan and set in on a cooling tray, sitting the pan in the sink.
"That would be quite nice actually, thank you!" Kasey thanked Apocalypse as she watched the cake.
"You can't eat it or frost it yet! It needs to cool. If you don't do that then the frosting will just melt." Katie explained, setting the timer for about 10 minutes.
Kasey groaned and sat down on a chair. "My demon threatned to make me jump off a cliff. I might take the offer." Kasey told Katie in a joking tone.
"You better not! Who's gonna make fun of me then?" Katie asked.
Salem walked through into the kitchen rubbing against Katie and meowing.
"Fuck off! I don't care that you think I care about Kasey having a male best friend!"
"Don't be ru- Excuse me? How.. What..?" Kasey was confused about how Katie knew what Salem had.. meowed?
"How have you not noticed?!" Katie questioned,"I speak cat! I am a cat! You can speak wolf! You just don't do it!"
Kasey was silent, but not before standing up on the chair that she was sitting on. "I CAN SPEAK WOLF?!" She shouted in shock.
Katie face palmed,"Kasey. Tell me now, what creature are you?"
Kasey looked at Katie. "A pure blood werewolf.." She said as she jumped off of the chair.
"You can speak wolf... Because you are a fucking wolf!" Katie shouted,"How did that not click?!"
"I know that I'm a wolf! But I've never tried to talk to one!" Kasey yelled. "Also ask Salem if he likes his food, he hasn't been finishing it lately." Kasey told Katie.
"Yo bitch!" Katie spoke to Salem,"Do you like the crap you eat?"
Salem gave a few meows in response.
"He says that he prefers chicken to tuna." Katie replied as the timer started beeping.
"Stop being mean to him!" Kasey whined as she picked up Salem, holding him close. "I'll get some chicken next time we're shopping." She told him.
"But as cats are mean to each other! That's how we do." Katie explained, taking the frosting from the fridge,"He said thanks by the way!"
Kasey put Salem back on the ground and ran over to Katie, taking the frosting from her.
"Hey! Gimme!" Katie yelled, jumping up to grab the frosting back,"Do you even know how to pipe it?"
"Of course I know how to pipe it." Kasey said, knowing that in fact, she didn't know how to pipe it.
"Show me how it's done, big man!" Katie joked, smirking as sat the cake on her spinning plate.
"Well.." Kasey placed the icing on the counter. "First you need your icing, duh."
"Obvious first step is obvious." Katie stated, stepping back and crossing her arms.
"Then.. You take a piping bag?" It was more of a question than saying an instruction.
"Dunno." Katie responded,"Do you? Thought you knew how to do this."
"I do! It's just been a while since I've done this." Kasey told her.
"Mhm." Katie hummed, she knew her sister had never done this before, unlike herself who used to help her father when she baked.
"..." Kasey looked at the icing. "Okay, I don't know how to pipe. Help?" Kasey said.
"Right. Give me the icing." Katie demanded sternly.
"No! It's my icing!" Kasey grabbed the bowl.
"I can't help if you don't give me it." Katie stated, holding out her hand.
Kasey sighed before handing the icing over to Katie. "Do you know how to do it?"
"Why else would I be asking for it?" Katie questioned, taking out a spatula and scooping the icing into a piping bag.
Kasey titled her head in confusion. "You need a bag?" She asked.
Katie sighed as she began piping the icing onto the cake, leaving visible gaps.
"Can I help?" Kasey asked, watching Katie pipe the cake.
"Once I'm done, smoothen it out with the spatula." Katie told her, spinning the plate so she could get the other sides.
Kasey nodded, going to the counter and getting the spatula.
Katie stepped away from the cake,"Just use the plate to spin the cake around, it'll make your job easier." Katie explained, squeezing the remainder of the icing into her mouth.
Kasey took the plate and spun it, doing as Katie said.
"You're doing great!" Katie said, putting the bag in the bin.
"Did you really take the rest of the icing without me?" Kasey asked, looking up from spinning the cake.
Katie wiped a little frosting off of her face,"What are you talking about?"
"I saw you out the corner of my eye, dumbass." Kasey said as she looked back at the cake.
"Heh, nearly got away!" Katie joked,"Hey, you can get the first slice."
"Really?" Kasey asked as she finished icing the cake.
"Sure, why not?" Katie agreed, taking out a large, sharp knife from the drawer next to her.
Kasey watched the knife for a couple of seconds. She knew it wouldn't move, but she always has a bad feeling around them now.
"You can cut it." Kasey said, looking back up finally.
"You got it boss." Katie said, throwing the knife which flipped in the air before catching it and cutting a slice for Kasey.
"You're going to kill yourself or me one of these days if you continue these tricks." Kasey said taking the slice and eating it.
"Yeah..." Katie stated staring off before cutting herself a slice and shoving half of it in her mouth saying,"Welp, I'm only gonna live once!"
Kasey nodded and shrugged as she continued chewing her slice. "I feel like we missed something..."
"Hmmm." Katie thought, recalling the list and continuing to eat,"Flour, water, eggs, sugar, vanilla extract, milk, see more water..."
"Wait.." A sour taste came to Kasey's taste buds. "Pass me the sugar.."
Katie picked up the bag that Kasey hadn't put away yet and tossed it to her, trying to enjoy her cake before Kasey revealed how bad it truly was.
Kasey caught the bag before throwing it on the counter. "Its salt!"
"Well now you've got bad luck, you spilt it!" Katie said, pointing to the bag lying on its side and spitting her slice into the bin.
"Well I'm sorry! Who puts salt in the sugar bag?!" Kasey threw her slice into the bin before she went into the cupboard to get the pan and shovel.
"Well I'm sorry! Who puts salt in the sugar bag?!" Kasey threw her slice into the bin before she went into the cupboard to get the pan and shovel.
"I only take milk in my tea!" Katie stated,"I don't touch that sweet stuff."
"It was probably Jae or Lynne." Kasey said as she started sweeping the salt.
"Most likely..." Katie stated, before picking up the cake and dropping it in the bin,"I'm sorry... You were doomed from the start..."
"In the arms of the angel... Fly away.." Kasey whispered as she put the split salt in the bin.
"Right, I'm going to bed." Katie stated, walking away to the room she shared with Kasey.
Kasey shook her head and finished cleaning the kitchen. Turning the lights off once she was finished and went into her bedroom. "I know something you don't know." She taunted her younger sister.
"Tell me!" Katie yelled, jumping and clinging to Kasey's back.
"Ah!" Kasey shouted before she tickled Katie's feet so she would get off of her.
Katie let go, falling to the floor but was still persistent,"Tell me!"
"I heard that a special someone came back from the school trip earlier today." Kasey said with a smirk.
"Who?!" Katie questioned,"Is it some crush of yours that you didn't tell me about?!"
Kasey raised a brow before climbing to the top bunk of their bed, leaning over the edge. "Noah~" She taunted once again.
"For the last time! I don't like him!" Katie yelled, covering her face with her jumper. She didn't want Kasey to see her blushing.
"Don't like him my ass!" Kasey threw a pillow at Katie. "I see the way you look at him!"
"Yeah? So!?" Katie retorted, grabbing the pillow and clutching it close,"It doesn't matter..."
"What do you mean?" Kasey asked.
"He'd never like me back so why bother even trying... You see... How he looks at the other girls..." Katie said, rolling over and attempting to sleep.
"Noah is just being friendly, that's his personality. Listen, I can tell he likes you. You just need to talk to him!" Kasey wasn't taking the silent treatment as an answer.
Katie replied with a faint,"Mhm..." Before drifting off into an uneasy slumber.
