❝Don't worry. Hell is big enough for the both of us.❞

It seemed as though everything was in slow motion. Aife could feel the heat of the explosion against her skin, and it felt like a thousand needles were poking at her. Ultimately drawing blood. Her skull was pounding, and her hands were bloody, and scraping against the rubble as she struggled to pull herself up. The missiles wouldn't stop. Everything was going up in flames.

Aife heard a high pitched ringing in her skull, and she immediately put her hands over her ears as she put her head into her knees. She let out a gasp as she felt arms wrap around her waist and pull her to her Feet, it was a blonde woman, who she had never met before. Her eyes were wide, as she looked at the chaos. There were scattered unconscious bodies, people were shouting, and scrambling for safety.

"Lets go," The woman shouted, she urgently went to move Aife to safety, despite her limp leg. Aife didn't listen to her, not that she could, her eyes were still glancing around the battle field, and she was desperately looking for her brother.

"Where is he? Where is my brother?" Aife could barely hear herself over all the screams, her eyes widened when she saw WCKED Soldiers dropping from the helicopter, weapons in their hands as they began to spread out. Seemingly on a search for the missing experiments. In their hands, they had a Kel-Tec KSG shotgun, ready to pull the trigger and shoot at any moving target.

One soldier pulled his trigger on a man who was desperate to Get a way, causing him to fall to his knees as he was continuously electrocuted. Aife allowed the woman to pull her through the field, though, she struggled to keep them both up right.

"You need to go," The woman was muttering over and over, her eyes were struggling to keep themselves open as they both panted heavily. Aife's left arm was wrapped around the blond woman, who's name was Nylah, as they stumbled behind a car.

"They are going to kill you, please, you need to leave, now!" Nylah fell to the ground and leaned against the car, her chest rising and lowering rapidly as sweat glistened and danced across her skin. Her face pulled into a grimace as she moved her dirty hands to cover the large gash that was on her leg. She was bleeding out, fast.

Aife silently thanked her for saving her life, and she didn't want to leave her,  but she had no choice. She had to find help.

"Just hold on," Aife tore a piece of the woman's shirt and applied pressure to the large wound on her thigh, but she didn't know if it was enough. When she was sure that Nylah was doing as told, she ran.

Across the field, Frypan, Minho, and Newt were crouching down behind a couple of barrels, covering their face from any flying objects, "Where's Aife? Thomas- God!" They didn't know where they were, but they spotted Sonya and Harriet on the back of a truck, and didn't think twice before sprinting over to them, their eyes squinted due to the dust that was flying in the air.

Aife on the other hand, was contemplating on what she should do as she dove behind a truck. She couldn't use her Katana, she would never be Able to get up close, and she didn't have a gun on her. She cursed underneath her breath as she breathed out, letting out a cough before seating her blade. Just before she could stand up straight, she felt a pair of hands frantically grip at her clothing, causing her to grab the persons wrist, pulling them away so she could get good look at who had assaulted her.

Thomas.

"Come on', keep your head down!" He shouted as he grabbed her hand and pulled her from behind the car, the girl did as told, her free hand was covering her face the best she could. When they turned the corner, their eyes widened. The tent.

It was in flames.

"No, Brenda!" Thomas shouted. Aife froze, her eyes wide as she struggled to breath. She turned to Thomas, her expression sorrowful as she tugged on his hand, "We gotta go, Now!" Aife felt a shove on her back as she was forcefully turned around, and Was met with Brenda, who has a frantic glint in her eyes as she looked between the two.

"You idiots," She looked between the two before yanking on both of their hands, dragging them to crouch down behind a table, that held supplies on it, such as water, and travel snacks. Jorge, who had already been hiding there, turned to the three teenagers and spoke, "We have to go, now," He had repeated Aife's words from earlier.

Aife shook her head, her thoughts traveling back to the rest of the gladers, her brother, and the woman that had saved her, Nylah.

"We have to save the others," Thomas spoke for her, he was getting up from his crouched position, before he was grabbed harshly by Jorge who denied him to leave.

"No!" Thomas grunted as he fell back to his knees, "Look," Jorge used his index finger to point at the horrific scenery in front of them, "Look, they can't help you. . . I'm sorry," Thomas shook his head repeatedly, his eyes wide as he watched the soldiers collect the unconscious bodies.

Aife, on the other hand, had tuned out and as she had her eyes closed. She inhaled steady breaths, letting out a small cough due to the smoke that had snuck into her lungs, and opened her eyes. Her hazel globes were filled with determination, as she finally caught sight of Nylah, whom she promised to come back for. The blonde woman had her eyes closed, and her left hand was loosely covering her her exposed thigh as her other was laying limp in the rubble. Her head lazily turned to the side as her mouth was slightly agape, and she let out a wheeze.

Aife glanced at Thomas for a moment, her thin eyebrows pulled together before she quickly stood up and broke into a sprint.

"No! Aife," She heard shouts behind her, but she didn't care.

She dodged the people that were running, and right now, her goal was only to reach Nylah. The woman who had saved her life.

She was so close.

Just fifteen feet away. She didn't know how it happened, or how many people it had affected, but before she knew it, she was laying on her back, and her chest was heaving heavily as she let out a shout of pain. The car that Nylah had been leaning against, was now up in flames, and the woman had disappeared as if she was never there. For a moment, Aife thought that she had imagined her, but no. She was there.

This, is reality.

Reality sucks.

Aife groaned before she shakily pushed herself up to her knees, her eyesight still on the car that was aflame, her eyes were wide as she left out a shout, "No!" She clenched her fists as she pounded them against the rubble. She needed to know, who the woman was. But she couldn't now. She was dead. The tone behind Nylah's words seemed as though they had much more meaning than she intended.

Like she had a story. One that tied in to theirs.

Aife could hear the muffled voices and shouts coming from her right, and she slowly turned her head, to meet eyes with Newt. The accented was pointing behind her, and before she knew it, she felt a harsh grip on her bicep, pulling her up from her knees and dragging her over to where the other victims were. The masked men had gotten to Newt, and the other Gladers as well. They were being forced on the ground, as if bowing to royalty.

That made Aife feel sick.

She would never bow down to them.

She couldn't.

Not after what they've done, all the people they've hurt.

Aife's feet dragged as the masked soldier shoved her down to her kneecaps, causing the girl to wince as her expression went void. She was kneeling next to Minho, and everyones hands had been forced behind their backs. Aife felt her hair being moved to the side, the locks over her left shoulder to reveal her neck. The masked soldier gripped a chunk of hair from the crown of her head and took a green scanner, watching as it studied the chip in her neck, just above her spine.

"This is her," His voice was muffled as he made his way to the front, right next to Janson, who was pacing with an unreadable glint in his eye, "A8,"

"How many did we get?" Janson smirked as he communicated with his assistant. He was satisfied with the words of the soldiers.

"All of em', give or take," The man with the clip board responded, his voice came out higher pitched as he pursed his lips.

"Give or take what?" Janson questioned.

"Well, they lost a few."

Janson didn't respond, instead, shifting his attention to Axel, who had his hands cuffed in font of him as he slowly stepped up. The former guard was shoved forward, causing him to trip as a lazy smirk tugged at his lips. This is ridiculous, he thought.

"Ah, there he is, the quisling boy who was too naive to see right from wrong," Janson mused.

Axel didn't respond, instead, clenched his jaw as he quirked an eyebrow. Aife immediately glanced up, "Axel," She sounded relieved, though, her eyes darkened as she looked back at Janson, "I'll kill you,"

Janson turned to her.

"I will. I'll kill you just like I did your men," She threatened, her head tilted as she spoke. Janson had no doubt about it. He knew she would.

"Well, you could try. I don't doubt that you will, but unfortunately for you, that won't be right now." He gave a teasing smirk before his facial expressions fell, and he turned to his assistant tho was crossing off the numbers of every subject.

"Where's Thomas,"
