Chapter 5
"How odd....I've never seen one person match with so many different woods...." The keep spoke, skepticism evident.
"How odd indeed..." Lucius hummed.

Chapter 5: Harry's New Wand
We could use all, or just some of them, I'd recommend at least two or three if he matches with this many of them....but best results would yield from what he's most connected to." The keeper spoke amazed.
Harry stuck his hand upward and let the wood drift onto his palm. Ultimately Harry decided to go with the blackthorn and ebony woods.
In the end his wand was 11" with a fusion threstral and Veela hair mixed into a single strand along with a dark Phoenix feather made of blackthorn wood with an ebony handle. The wand was one Lucius noted would do very well for the dark arts spells and practices. The boy had been full of welcome surprises. They were told the wand would be ready in four hours and they should return then. Luckily they had many other stops Lucius wanted to make so the time would be of little concern.
They made their way to Ollivanders to get Harry's 'school' wand. Harry walked up to the counter like it had been described by many of the older order members who got to participate before Voldemort won the war.
"Ah yes Mr. Potter..." Ollivander Greeted.
Harry didn't bother to correct the man.
Harry was handed a few different wands, each causing sparks or exploding something or another.
After trying out various different wands, none of which seem quite right.
"Tricky customer, eh? Not to worry, we'll find the perfect match here somewhere -- I wonder, now - - yes, why not -- unusual combination -- holly and phoenix feather, eleven inches, nice and supple." Ollivander noted.
Harry took the wand. He felt a sudden warmth in his fingers. He raised the wand above his head, brought it swishing down through the dusty air and a stream of red and gold sparks shot from the end like a firework, throwing dancing spots of light on to the walls. Lucius was impressed and Draco was just looking at other things around the shop.
He put Harry's wand back into its box and wrapped it in brown paper, still muttering, "Curious . . . curious . . ."
"Whats curious?" Harry asked.
Ollivander looked back at Harry.
"I remember every wand I've ever sold, Mr. Potter. Every single wand. It just so happens that the phoenix whose tail feather is in your wand, gave another feather — just one other. It is very curious indeed that you should be destined for this wand when its brother — why, its brother gave you that scar."
Harry had thought he had hidden it well but apparently not well enough. He would have to rectify that with a glamour now that he had a wand he could use.
Yes Voldemort had given the boy a scar, but there was more to it that nobody would tell him. He could have asked Tom, but no way in hell was he going to potentially give the man information he didn't already have.
"Curious indeed, however curiosity killed the cat and I wish to remain alive." Harry said simply, Lucius paying the seven Galleons for the cost of Harry's school wand, before departing the shop with the two boys.
"Next is potions." Lucius stated heading down the road.
Harry liked potions quite a bit. One of the things he had been able to do in his spare time at the base was potions as it had lots of things around you could make potions out of. Harry often experimented, sometimes adjusting to playing with the potions in a few of the books he had, or simply throwing things together. He did know a fair amount of potions information as he had spent a great deal of time with his mother's old potions books, so he knew what could safely go together and what wouldn't. Thus the potions shop greatly peaked the young boys interest. As soon as they entered the store Harry raced off to browse shelves. Lucius looked at the boy curiously as he did so. The blonde man went to get all the required potions course work items for both boys with Draco as Harry browsed. Harry brought a few things back with him, the most notable being dragons blood and basilisk venom, both of which could be used to make some pretty nasty potions.
"They are a little pricey Mr. Malfoy, I apologize for that." Harry spoke as he placed them on the counter., further peaking the blonde mans interest.
"Do not wort about it. I was instructed to allow you a few things for your spare time as it is, so feel free to grab as you wish."
Harry looked at him meekly "in that case..." he disappeared before coming back with quite a few other things, causing the blonde to let out a small amused chuckle. 'Severus would love this boy if he saw this' he thought.
Seeing as he would be stuck with these people for a while anyway, Harry figured he might as well take advantage of this situation and get some ingredients he wouldn't of had access to otherwise.
Once they finished with the store and picked up all the items they had been waiting on Harry asked to make just a few more stops. He had spotted an animal emporium a while ago and wanted a familiar. An owl for post would be an asset, and he had made the point that Tom would probably prefer Harry not steal his personal owl, but truthfully he wanted a familiar of his own since they were allowed at Hogwarts. Since Tom took over the restrictions on familiar type had been relaxed, so long as you had proper control over your animal and it was not going to attack at random, or be used to attack others. Lucius sighed and agreed, taking the boys in the first of the extra 'fun' stops.
Draco and Harry browsed for a while, Draco bringing a snowy white owl toward Harry.
"She's gorgeous." Harry remarked.
"I would like to ask father to get her as a welcome gift to you. Do you like her?" Draco asked.
Harry blinked. A gift? He had done nothing to earn a gift. "That's kind Draco but I've nothing to return your offer with."
The blonde shook his head. "I didn't expect anything in return Harry. She is a gift not a trade. Did you not get gifts growing up?"
Harry shook his head. "Of course I did....well I suppose they were more rewards for good results, not so much gifts....but it's the same thing isn't it?"
Draco looked appalled. "It most certainly is not! A gift is given without expectation....like birthdays or Yule for example."
Harry tilted his head causing Draco to gasp.
"Yule is in December.....your birthday I believe is in the summer?" Draco said.
"Oh Christmas! We never celebrated due to tight funds." Harry shrugged.
Draco looked at Harry as if he had been hit by a bus. "That is a muggle holiday, and we do not celebrate it. We do Yule. Father will reach you."
"Okay. And she's beautiful Draco, I'll name her Hedwig." Harry mused.
