Chapter 3

"Hadrian!" Tom said calling the boy from his daze.
"S-sorry! Zoned out a minute...." Harry answered.
"Let us proceed with the blood adoption." Tom said hastily.

Chapter 3: Blood Adoption

Harry stepped up to the alter containing a golden bowl and silver knife with an elegant emerald handle. His face was hardened in emotion, one that could only be called determination. Why? No one really knew, not even harry himself truly knew.
Perhaps it was a need to show his worth, even if his parents weren't there. To show he could survive on his own no matter the cost. Or maybe the thought of having possibly been abandoned had gotten to him more than he admit. Neither answer was clear.

"Potter you will place five drops of blood into this bowl." Tom instructed, handing him the small knife.

Harry nodded, he had never been afraid of injury. Not even as a young child. He carelessly pricked his finger before he let five drops of his blood fall into the bowl.
Tom then took the knife from Harry and pricked his own finger, adding seven drops of his own blood.

The crimson red liquid in the bowl turned a glittering silver as The man Harry assumed to be Draco's father began some sort of chant.

"The blood of a strange pair adopts a silver sheen, forms together and welds a bond, from which none have ever seen. Away from what he's always known, this family bond quickly shown, through blood and magic, a protection grows, to keep him safe from all their foes, A spell I chant to add the magic too, and gift it back to each of you...." The word we're specific to he and Voldemort alone at that moment. Harry took note of that.

The rooms air grew cold for a brief moment a shiver running down each persons back as a light blue sand like whisp flew around both Harry and Tom. The liquid turned to a silky golden colour as it absorbed the strange mist like sand.

"Each drinks half." Lucius said pouring the liquid into two cups equally and handing one to Harry, Tom picking up his own like it was merely a glass of wine.

As instructed Harry took the glass that had been handed to him, and downed the strange liquid in one go. He knew he wasn't being poisoned because he was needed. Tom drank his equally as quick and watched as a red ring similar in appearance to a bracelet, formed on Harry's right wrist, and faded away until it was just barely noticeable. You would really only find it if you were looking for it.

"That's it. Your mine now." Tom told the boy as he summoned a large mirror.

Harry's messy hair had become smooth with a slight wave, his skin paled slightly and his face more sharp and angular. His hair seemed to darken into a purer black and his eyes lit up, avada kedavra green, rather than emerald. Almost as if they had been glowing. That quickly faded back into emerald, red specks sparkling within those green pools like glitter. The glow had gone, it's brief moment of glory having passed.
Harry knew what he was getting into when he started this, so he just gave a simple nod and opened his mouth to speak.

"May I go hang out with Draco for a while longer?" He asked as politely as he could in hopes the man would say yes.

Tom sighed before answering. "I don't see an issue with that. I must discuss some things with Lucius anyway. Go on."

At Tom's dismissal both boys headed back to the room they had been in before, racing each other there. The man had been surprisingly nicer than Harry had anticipated.

-

"Children." Tom scoffed.

"You need to speak with me my lord?" Lucius asked.

"Yes. Let us retire to my office briefly." Tom said waving the man to follow him as he left.

The pair made their way back into Tom's office and got right down to business as soon as they had situated themselves.

"I'm going to need to ask a favour of you." Tom sighed.

"Of course my lord." Lucius replied quickly.

"When he enters the school, he will go as Hadrian Malfoy. He cannot go as a riddle and he will not go as a Potter. That life is behind him now. Draco will keep an eye on Harry and report any misbehaviour and or suspicious behaviour, no matter how large or minor it may seem, to you immediately. If anyone asks, the boy was taken in as your ward, his parents having died tragically as a result of the rebellions actions. Hadrian will be made aware of this story as well." Tom instructed.

"Of course my lord. Will I be taking him for supplies as well?" Lucius inquired.

Tom gave a simple nod of his head.

"Take him now, then bring him home with you. The new year will be starting soon and I trust you can keep an eye on him. I will come there to see or train him as I see the need to." Tom dismissed.

Lucius made His graceful exit, searching for the two young boys within the room they had said they'd be in. He didn't see either boy, until Draco's head popped up from behind the large couch.

"What are you doing?" Lucius asked.

"Oh, Harry wanted to play hide and seek. I'm searching for him." Draco said.

Lucius sneered. 'Must be a muggle game taught to him by his caretaker.' He concluded.

"There won't be anymore of that silly muggle nonsense. Harry come here!" Lucius said, greatly annoyed his son had been poisoned by muggle influence.

Harry came out of his hiding place and looked at the man questioningly.

"You are going to stay with me and my family until Hogwarts, so that I may teach you about pureblood ways. No more muggle games or things of the sort. Understood?" Lucius stated.

"I understand your telling me that, but why not?" Harry asked confused.

"Because muggles don't belong in our world and neither do any of their traditions or games. We have our own, which I will teach you." The blonde man replied.

"Very well. However Mr. Malfoy let me be perfectly frank. I do not appreciate your aggressive tone, nor do I think your 'lord' would either seeing as I am now his 'heir' whether either of us like it or not." Harry deadpanned.

Lucius sighed. 'This boy is most definitely going to be a slytherin'. "I will take note of that Potter, now let us leave."

Harry was intrigued to learn more about wizard customs as he never really got to learn any living with the Weasleys who practiced mostly muggle ones. Sure he had to give up all the fun things he knew, but he'd grown bored of a lot of those games anyway..... Harry was slightly startled when the tall man grabbed his and Draco's hands but calmed down when Lucius gave him a small nod. The trio disappeared with a small crack and reappeared on a seemingly busy street.

"Welcome to diagon alley. We are going to buy your school things, and a few others so try not to get lost." Lucius said releasing his grip on both boys.

"Um....Mr. Malfoy?" Harry asked awkwardly.

"Yes?" Lucius asked.

"I've never been in such a large and busy place, so, I think I might get lost." Harry admitted.

Lucius begrudgingly grabbed the boys hand, noting the boy had been tense, but seemed to relax a little. 'Interesting.' The blonde thought.
Harry and covered up his scar with his hair, not wanting to worry about the attention he was sure to receive over being 'the boy who lived'. He got that quite often at the rebel base, and didn't want to chance it here either. His lack of wand making it impossible to glamour didn't help either.
