ARCHER's POV

"tohsaka's company regular meeting begins at noon, your dance lesson with me begins at 2 pm and politics lesson with Professor Macmillan begins at 6pm. These are all your appointments for now." I reminded rin.

Rin is silent. She was reading a newspaper. If you look at her she is no mood.

FLASHBACK

"damnyou! archer! why are you telling me this now?!?!" rin scolding me at the top of her voice.

"it was nothing important and not alarming." I answered

"what do you mean not important and not alarming! You didn't told me carenwas courting you to be her servant before you serve me." rin still mad at me.

"you don't have to worry, lady rin. I turned her down" I answered

"butcaren didn't give up on you. she send you gifts, letters and you didn't throw them. it pisses me off you only told about caren now." As rin gather all the gifts, letters in the room and burn them.

BACK AT PRESENT

I sighed.

Caren didn't send me gifts. Lancer planted those. I still couldn't believe it he was able to sneak in, place those stuffs and get out without being noticed. caren neither court me to be her servant. it was all lies that lancer and I scheme.

I remember what lancer said "it's obvious she loves you even if she didn't have her memory. All she needs is a push and she'll be yours again. Let's use the famous trick of the book. Jealousy. Let's make her jealous. We need a third party. That will be my master."

"ladyrin, a letter has arrived." Then hands her a letter

I was able to get rin's attention when she noticed it was from caren.

"are you still mad at me?" I asked

"I don't get it why caren wanted you that badly" rin said

"have you meet other counter guardian aside from me?" I asked

"no." rin answered

"we are very experience. To be summoned on different timelines and universes." I said

"caren knows you better than me. she did her research. I didn't intend to summon a counter guardian as my servant. but I have to admit im lucky to have you. It doesn't matter if you're a counter guardian or not." Rin said

I was touched when she told me she didn't mind if im a counter guardian or not. She really is the rin who love me. rin said the same thing to me in the past.

"caren knows little about me. im more than a century old. i can tell you all about my past." I offered

"im not interested" rin answered

I was shocked. Rin saw my reaction.

"I would be honest about you archer. I don't want to know but I already have an idea what kind of life you had before you become my servant. even though you're willing to tell me, im scared of knowing about your past. I don't want to change what I think and feel about you now." Rin said

"thanks you for your honesty. It means so much to me." I feel relieved.

Rin went to read the caren's letter. It was an invitation to a ball at Caren's estate. She later tore the letter.

"it's time for caren to dance. Dance macabre." Rin said

"dance of death is it?" rin intends to take down caren

I serve her tea.

"they save us the trouble of sending an invitation." I said

"we should go, archer. it's a duel" rin ordered

"understood. Let me adjust your appointment." I answered

"archer? what that box in the cart?" rin asked

"oh? It's for me. fromcaren." I answered

I saw an evil glare from rin. She stands up, picks up the box and broke the window as she throws it out.

So this is rin if she's jealous. I didn't get to see this side of her before. If you saw the look in rin's face as she read those fake letters that lancer planted, it was priceless.lancer really has talent of making love letters.

I cant help it but laugh.

"what's so funny!?!" rin noticed my amusement of her.

"rin. That was not lady like." I cant think of anything else to say.

Rin bit her lip. she grabbed my tie and pulled me closer to her.

"you're mine. Only mine. I wont letcaren have you.if I have to, I will bind you." rin seriously said

I was speechless.

"bind me?" I raised my eyebrow. This should be interesting

I pinned rin on the table

Rin was shocked. "archer? what are you doing?" rin asked.

I summoned a dog collar, handcuffs and a whip. Rin looks nervous as I place them on the table

"how about we do it now? I wont mind my leash being tighten and being tortured by you.my body and soul is yours. You can do whatever pleases you" I said

Rin face become red.

"archer? this isn't you?" rin said nervously

I went to whisper to her ears and remind her "I thought you said if you have to, you will bind me."

Then rin later noticed what she had said.

"what I mean is...strengthen the contract! you're my servant!only my servant!mine! Im not gonna let caren have you. wait! I sounded so wrong in many ways." Rin insisted

I cant take it anymore. I chuckled. I let go of rin.

Rin feels so ashamed

"just go already. You have something else to do." as rin pushes me out to the room.

And closes the door with a big bang.

I can hear her heart racing.

I went outside. I have done my duties already. I went to read the letter lancer sent.

"what's inside the box was just a rock. I have done my part. It's your turn."

I burn the letter.

Damn lancer! Your advice worked. The boundaries of being a master and servant is lowered. Rin expressing her feelings for me.

Now. How are we going to fool caren's master? She will only release him if he delivers rin to her?

I have no idea. But I need to inform him that rin accepted the invitation and she planned to have a dance macabre.

AT KOTOMNE's ESTATE

We finally arrive at caren's place.

"wow! You really came, tohsaka!" caren happily greeted us. beside her were avenger and lancer

"come here. I prepared the best stage for today." Caren said.

We arrived at the garden. The theme of the stage is a chess board game.

"an ancient field of dueling. Brings back memories." I said

Rin is silent. I look at her. She seems serious but her body tells me the opposite. Her heartbeat is fast and theirs is an irregularity in her breathing.

"so here are the rules. The butlers will be the one to dance. The one who can dance to the end wins. The loser will give in to the winners demands. How does that sound?" caren asked.

"what they actually mean is it's a dead match." I whispered to rin's ear

"what a convenient on our part! This is much better than dressing up in pretentious attire" rin answered

The bell sounded

"archer! Win! Bring me carenkotomine!" rin ordered

"yes, milady." I answered

"Lancer! Defeat archer and make him my servant!" caren ordered

"say what!" rin reacted after hearing caren's ordered

"you heard it right" caren provoking rin

Rin bit her lips and clutch her hands.

"stay away from my archer. he's mine" rin said angrily.

"better not lose this fight then" caren laughed

We went up on the stage. Me against avenger and lancer. Avenger is holding a dagger. Lancer has not armed himself. I summoned my kanshuu and bakuya.

From afar, I saw rin's uneasiness. Caren is very confident.

"f-f-f-fantastic!" someone screamed. We stopped. There is an unexpected visitor. It was taiga.

"this is a dueling site of the antiquity where the mythic heroes once crossed their swords! It was an honor to be invited in this ball." Taiga exclaimed

"dear guest, what brings you to this estate?" lancer asked.

"oh! I have been invited to the costume ball today." Taiga answered

"the costume ball ended last week. Today we invited lady tohsaka for a private ball." Lancer said

Taiga was shock. Then she realized, she got the date wrong

"I don't want to miss this kind of entertainment. I will join tohsaka for this event." Then taiga went to seat between caren and rin.

No reason for us to hold back. Anyway, caren or rin will wipe out her memories once this is ended.

Avenger went to strike me first. His moves is predictable and his strikes were not strong.

I disarm avenger. Avenger was surprised. The he brings out a hand gun. It scratched my coat.

"damn! I have to mend this right away." I complained

"no need. It will be full of bullets." Avenger keeps on firing.

Rin was surprised. Im sewing the coat as I dodge avenger's shot.

When avenger is out of bullets for her hand guns, he switches to a machine gun.

This time I hide behind a sculpture chess piece.

"Wow!" taiga screamed. She was impressed and entertained. What she didn't know is this is a death match.

"ah! It will be full of holes at this rate." I exclaimed

"let me even out with the same number of bullets you fired." I went out of my hiding and headed towards him. I traced arrows in the air and strike him down.

Avenger was shocked. There's no way he can run away.

When the explosion was cleared. Avenger is pinned on the floor. He's heavily injured. I went near him and was about to finish him with kanshuu and bakuya when lancer saved him by ramming a sculpture chess piece on me.

The bell rang.

"it's tea time." Lancer said

"right. it's late already." I agreed

"I must start making snacks for my master. It will be a short break" Lancer added

"I will also make snacks for milady. May I use your kitchen?" I asked

Avenger brings all the ingredients from the kitchen to the stage. So caren must have wanted for me and lancer to battle on our cooking skills. Lancer can cook but his cooking is not as good as mine.

LANCER's POV

As I was making snacks for my master, I cant help it but stare to archer's master rin. That bastard is really lucky. Mages sees servants as tools but this girl is different. I already know about her ever since I was asked by my previous master, kirie, to spy on her. That fake priest who claimed to be rin's mentor. I was able to meet her when I have become caren's servant, her first order is to bring rin's soul.

I was first summoned by bazettfraga. I didn't get to know her long because kirei killed her. Then he was able to take over as my master against my will. I've longed to kill that bastard. He make me do things I don't want to do and whatever pleases him. i wanted to be free from him. I would gladly serve someone who can killed him. I was happy when someone killed him and I found out it was rin through archer have killed him.

My freedom was cut short when caren, kirei's daughter take over. Like father, like daughter. But if I have to choose between carenor his father. I prefer to be slave by caren.

Rin is intriguing. Somehow she reminded me of scathach, the teacher who trained me and the woman I screwed up. maybe because of what I did on scathach, I never got luck on woman ever since.

I don't know how long I've been staring rin but someone got my attention. It was archer throwing egg yolk to my face.

"I don't like it when you stared milady for too long. It is as if you've got some interest on her." Archer warned me

"am I really that alarming?" I asked then strike him back with a raw cake that I was about to cook.

We ended up exchanging throws. We both just dodge.

After emptying the bowl, I noticed that the raw cake that archer throws, forms an archer sculpture with his arrows and bow ready to fire. My sculpture is a spearman ready to strike down.

Caren and taiga was impressed except for rin. Rin either didn't enjoy or nervous how will this day end.

It's time to serve the snack.

"today's snack is puits d amur, baked from pie dough and filled with crème pastisserie and raspberry jam. Marriage frereserosjas been prepared for the tea" then I went to spoon feed caren.

Taiga screamed with pleasure

"foret noire baked from spongy chocolate dough, it's filled with cherry syrup and arranged with white cream. Special keemun from anhui of xing has been prepared for the tea." Archer said as he serves rin.

Taiga was shock. He didn't expect how skilled archer is. He was able to bring out the flavor that makes the food unique and irresistible. As expected, I cant rival him.

"archer, how about you become my butler?if you work for me, I'll grant whatever you wanted" taiga offered

"that was very generous from you. sorry. But my body and soul belong to rin. I am one of a hell a butler." archer answered

Rin blushed

"wow. That was very poetic archer." taiga reacted.

Someone who has no idea what really is going on.

When the break time is over, taiga headed to the rest room. I have avenger to accompany her. Archer and I poisoned her tea and snacks. Not to kill her but enough for her to stay the rest of the day in the rest room.

Now, it's time for me and archer to fight.

"shall we dance?" archer provoking me

"very well." Then I summoned in my hands a two meter red speared

Archer recognized the spear I a holding.

"you are now easy identifiable. Only swiftest heroes are chosen to be spearmen. You stand head and shoulder above them.there aren't even three spearmen of your skill in the world. Add in a beast's agility and that leaves but one." Archer said

"you flatter me archer. it's time for dance macbre." I went to strike him first

My master looks happy but rin looks scared.

Archer just dodge my attacks. How long will you keep on dodging?

Later, caren and rin left to went somewhere else.

"milady, you shouldn't leave when your butler does this dance for you" archer called rin

"don't divert your attention while dancing." I reminded him as I keep on swinging my spear

When caren and rin are gone, I checked if they were still watching or listening to us. good thing they're not watching and listening. I have no idea what's going on between those two but I found my chance now.

I use telepathy just to be sure.

"archer, it's your turn. This is the right time to fool my master. I need you to lose" I said

"not a perfect plan. Your master will harm rin." Archer argued

"I'll fake your death. Before I'll deliver rin to her, I'll have her terminate the contract. If she terminates the contract, save your master. If she does not terminate the contract, I need you to strike my master with your fake version of rule breaker. Your version of rule breaker cant kill her but at least it will terminate my contract with her." I proposed

Before archer can answered, we sense our master were both in danger. They were clashing with each other.

Both of us stop fighting and we headed to where our masters are.

RIN's POV

"just like you requested. A place where both our servants cant hear us." caren said

"caren forget about your father" I said

"say what?" caren was surprised

"this is what you have become now. It's because of him. but you can change who you are, let it go. Live a life." I advise

"no! you killed him for revenge. For killing your father. I spent my whole life for revenge. Revenge for me and my mom. But he's gone. the revenge I've been working on, I'll give it to you." caren answered

Something's wrong with her head. I was really hoping I could change her mind.

"first, I killed him not for revenge. Yes, he did killed my father. I killed him because that's the only way to stopped him. he killed a lot of people aside my father. he spread lies. Heuses people as sacrifice. He plans to use the grail to destroy the whole world. Second, you should live a life. if you insists on harming me and everyone I care, I will kill you. you'll never get to have a future, a family on your own." I said

"you will kill me? I doubt you have what it takes. Did the idea of stealing your archer sets you off?" caren asked

She's pissing me off.

"when archer became my servant, I will remind him the life he had as a counter servant! I will have him go and kill people who doesn't deserve to live. And the best part is, I will have him watch you as I torture you until you break. Then I'll have archer give you mercy by slowly killing you off."Caren provoking me

"leave archer alone!" then I fire my gandr.

Caren just dodge. I've been chasing her.

"coward!" I screamed

"youcant even hit me! my turn. Can you dodge?" caren asked

When I turned my back, I was knocked by a red cloth

"shroud of Magdalene?" I recognize the relic that caren was using

"finally! I've got you now, tohsaka" caren rejoiced

I struggled to free myself.

"archer wanted to be with you that badly. But it's over. You're going to die not knowing that you lost something precious. I wanted to see archer's face when that happens" caren said

"im not going to die!" I have no choice but to use it.

The next thing caren knew, her stomach is bleeding. I free myself and stab her with the jewel sword of zelretch

Caren lied on the ground. She's bleeding.

"what something precious did I lost?" I asked caren as I pointed the sword to her throat

"whywont you ask archer? butI don't think you'll believe him."caren laughed

Lancer and archer entered the room.

"if you want to be free lancer, stay where you are. Don't interfere archer!" I order

Both of them stop

"rin don't get your hands dirty." Archer said

I was about to kill caren

"rin! Don't! let me do it! just don't cross the path!" archer begged

My hands were shaking

"useless dog! Don't just stand there" caren cried

So caren still fears death

I lowered my sword. Lancer grabs caren. Archer rushed to my side and hugged me.

"don't do anything stupid next time." As his embrace tightens

"what's left of a magus if you feel sentimental for mere familiars. You're better off without unnecessary feelings?" caren said

"sorry lancer. You're still bound to her." I said

"imcaren's servant. why would you care?" lancer asked

"I hated it when they see servants as weapons. And I hated more when they treat servants as animals." I answered

"would you like to adopt me?" lancer asked

"I wont mind" I answered

"oi! Rin! Don't just pick up a stray dog"archer said

"unfortunately I have my archer." I said

"we're going to take our leave." Archer carried me .

"put me down, archer" I ordered as I keep on slapping him

"oh dear! You were beaten badly and yet you can still struggle so much." Archer complained

Then we left

LANCER's POV

"that look" caren said

Caren got my attention.

"you want her" caren added

"right. I would love to have her as my master" I answered

"no. you want more than that. Unfortunately she's taken. As long as I live, you are chained to me. you never learned from your past. You'll never get a woman you dream of. You'll be forever unlucky." Caren teased

Im still wondering if my story is still in the right track. I have no plans on abandoning this red butler series. I will finish what I started. sorry it took me so long to publish another chapter. im having difficulty for the next chapter and how am I going to end it.
