Bosses Orders

Sitting back in his seat, Arthur clicked his pen open and shut. His boss had started worrying about him, apparently he was pacing too much. When he found that there was no way of getting out of this he sat back and thought back to a time of turmoil, chaos and terror. The War of the Roses was horrific, he felt as though he was torn in two. It was hard to know where to turn, and what to do. Then a young man by the name of Henry Tudor swept in and made the choice for him, the war ended, and the Tudor dynasty began. Part of him felt sad, he had loved the Plantagenets, they had made him feel as though he was invincible. Perhaps, this Tudor family would bring about some much needed peace. How wrong he was.

The peace had been short lived. It was then that Henry VIII brought about the true chaos. His capricious living, chasing after women, and death he brought with him made Arthur feel as though he was running back and forth like a madman. To be honest he preferred John I, that was saying something!

After Henry died, Arthur was allowed a space to breathe. Young prince Edward took the throne; he was a weak boy to be sure, but he was kind. He was taken from the world too soon, he was only a teenager when he died. After his death the quiet, timid Jane became queen for a day; her life was cut short by Queen Mary I, who enacted a reign of terror. That made Arthur even more unsure. Was he Catholic or Protestant? He didn't even know!

Sitting up in his seat Arthur smiled. Elizabeth. Smiling he uncapped the pen and the steady flow of memories found themselves engraved on paper.

No one led Europe on a longer chase than Elizabeth. She was on the receiving end of numerous proposals from princes, dukes and kings from many different countries. There was not one that she accepted. She was made famous for saying: "I would rather be a beggar and single than a queen and married." She knew that if she took a spouse it would be he who ruled through her, and not she who reigned. She was a wild, carefree, independent spirit who could never be tamed. She was a friend. She was my Faerie Queen.
