Mortal Combat

The next few days flew by. Much faster than our heroes would have liked.

Although they resisted, Sebastian sent all the people together with all the men of the gang to the secret place for protection. He didn't want any of them to be in danger, nor did he want their enemies to gain any advantage, such as kidnapping or something worse.

With the people also went Elena, because she's too young to fight and because she can serve as a link between them. Matty and Eva accompanied her to protect her better.

And so, we come to the night before the great battle.

~ GARDEN OF FAMILY LAND ~

The moon, one night before the August full moon, the most beautiful moon of the year, is almost full. Only a small piece is missing. A small piece that robs Sebastian of his full power. But he's not worried. The next night, the night of the full moon, he'll be ready and will unleash his full power.

That's what he thinks as he sits alone in the garden, gazing up at the dark sky. Then a memory intrudes on his mind. A memory of him and Night shortly after he was born.

~ AGES AGO ~

Night has just breathed into the mouth of the naked man lying at her feet, and he opens his big blue eyes.

Night: Welcome to the world, Guardian.

He stands up and looks around in confusion. The wet dark walls are full of moss and lichen. The ground beneath his bare feet is cold, but he doesn't feel it.

He touches his body, trying to get to know it. The strong thighs, the steely arms, the flat stomach, the big third limb between his legs. Night coughs to get his attention. He looks up at her.

Sebastian: Who're you?

Night: I'm Night, the goddess of darkness, the sister of God.

Sebastian: What am I?

Night: You're a hybrid of wolf and vampire. You have all the advantages of both species, but none of their weaknesses.

Sebastian: You created me?

Night: Yes.

Sebastian: And why?

Night: To protect Jonathan, my brother's beloved angel. He asked me to create you.

Sebastian: Will this angel be my master?

Night: No. You have no master. You're a free spirit. I made you this way. You'll never kneel to anyone. Do you understand me?

Sebastian: Not even in front of you?

Night: Not even in front of me.

At that moment, Sebastian's fangs appear and he touches them with his tongue.

Sebastian: I'm thirsty.

Night: I know. Here ...

She raises her hand and offers him her wrist.

Night: Drink.

He takes her hand, guides it to his mouth, and sinks his fangs into her vein. As her divine blood flows down his throat, he moans as she sighs. She raises her other hand and strokes his hair.

Night: Drink, Guardian. My blood will give you the immortality of your soul, but if you need to strengthen your body, drink angel blood. Drink Jonathan's blood.

~ BACK TO THE PRESENT ~

The memory fades with the voice of Jace approaching Sebastian from behind.

Jace: Hey, Chief! We're waiting for you, but you're a million miles away.

Sebastian turns and looks at Jace, the reason for his creation.

Sebastian: Jonathan ...

Jace purses his lips.

Jace: You address me by my angelic name, so this is serious. What's up, Guardian?

Sebastian: I remembered something Night told me.

Jace: About what?

Sebastian tells Jace the memory with Night's words. When he finishes, he gasps as Jace walks over to him and sits down next to him.

Jace: I see.

Sebastian: I'm going to need all the strength I can get, Jonathan.

Jace: I know.

Sebastian: So what? You're going to let me ...

Jace: Drink my blood?

Sebastian: Yes.

Jace: Tell me something. Is it true that it feels like having an orgasm when you drink someone's blood?

Sebastian: Having multiple orgasms would be a more accurate description.

Jace: Well ... That should be fun.

Sebastian: We don't have to do it in front of everybody, you know.

Jace: It's not that. You know very well that I've absolutely no problem with team games.

Sebastian: Then what's the problem?

Jace: Nothing. There's no problem. Let's do it.

Sebastian: Let's do it.

They get up and start heading home.

Jace: You know what? If my blood amplifies your power, maybe the same goes for Lois and Damon.

Sebastian: Yeah. Maybe.

Jace: We have to try it.

Sebastian: Why not? We've nothing to lose, but which angels will they drink from?

Jace: From the ones they're closest to. Damon from Nic and ...

Sebastian: And Lois from Mary.

At the thought of their wives being together, they look at each other and bite their lips.

Jace: Shit! This is going to be hot as hell.

Sebastian: You can say that again!

Jace: Shit! This is going to be ...

Sebastian: God damn it, Jace!

Jace: What? You asked me to do that.

Sebastian runs towards the house rolling his eyes as Jace chases after him laughing.

~ A LITTLE LATER ~ INSIDE THE HOUSE ~

They're all gathered in the living room and Sebastian has just explained to them the tactics they'll use in battle.

Sebastian: You understand everything, don't you? I want each of you to know beforehand where you stand and what you have to do, because during the fight I can't guide you.

Mary: I have an objection.

Sebastian: Tell me.

Mary: I don't like the fact that I'll be separated from Jace.

Sebastian: I've explained why, Mary. Jace needs to focus on the fight and not get distracted, and he can only do that when you're safe.

Mary: Yeah, but ...

Matt: He's right, Biscuit. That bastard Nathaniel will definitely try to hurt you to weaken Jace.

Sebastian: You need protection, Sexy, and the only one who can do that is my Kitten.

Lois: Hell yeah!

Jace: Lois, are you sure you can do this? My everything is on the line.

Lois: Don't worry about it, brother. Anyone who dares touch a hair on my girlfriend's head will bitterly regret it with me and my whip. You concentrate on skinning the bastard alive.

Jace: You can be sure of that!

Alexander: Hey! Hey! Angel Terminator. You're going to do exactly what Sebastian told you to do. Even if you have the chance to finish him off, you won't do it while he still has his wings. I didn't become an angel, so you lose yours.

Matt: I'd agree with that.

JJ: We all agree on that.

Sebastian: Do you really think I'm going to let him out of my sight for even a minute?

Alexander: Better safe than sorry, Chief.

Just before sunrise, after a very long night of battle strategies, defense and attack planning, JJ has fallen asleep by the window.

Artemis goes and sits down next to him. She brushes a strand of hair from his forehead with her fingers. When he feels her motherly caress on his sleep, he turns his body, lies on her thighs, and rubs his face against her. She leans down and covers him with her hair.

Stefan looks at them from where he sits with a strange expression on his face. A facial expression that Jace knows very well. He walks over, sits next to him, and follows his gaze.

Jace: Annoying, huh?

Stefan: What?

Jace: Seeing your wife, who until recently only loved and cared for you, give her love and affection to someone else and there's nothing you can do about it because that other person is your son.

Stefan: You can't imagine how much.

Jace: Yes, I can. I've two sons who adore their mother. If that tells you anything, Tiger.

Stefan: Touché!

Jace: Don't worry about it. You'll get used to it. You've got all of eternity ahead of you for that.

Stefan: Is it always going to be like this?

Jace: You tell me. Where were you and what were you doing a few minutes ago?

Stefan: I was snuggled up in my mom's arms.

Jace: You got your answer.

Stefan: Great!

Jace pats his son's leg amicably and stands up while Stefan snorts in irritation. He approaches Sebastian.

Sebastian: What did you say to Tiger and he freaked out?

Jace: The truth.

Sebastian's gaze goes from Artemis with JJ to Lois laughing as Damon rests his head on her thighs, playing with the wind ruffling her hair.

Sebastian: Hmm ... I don't blame him.

Jace: None of us do.

At that moment, Sebastian's gaze goes blank and he stares at the horizon. The same thing happens to Lois and Damon.

Jace: What's going on, Wolf?

Sebastian: Elena. She's talking to us.

Sebastian walks over to Lois and Damon as everyone else approaches and forms a circle around them. Everyone except JJ, who's still asleep, and Artemis, who doesn't move from her spot so as not to disturb him.

Sebastian: Our enemies have begun their journey. They're coming. Tonight. When the sun sets, everything will begin and everything will end.

A deep silence breaks out between them as Sebastian stops speaking Elena's words. They look at each other and let their eyes express everything they have to say.

~ LATER ~AROUND NOON ~ CLEARING WITH THE VIOLETS ~

There are only a few hours left until sunset. At this moment, the sun hangs in the middle of the cloudless sky, shining to give its vital warmth to the living creatures on earth. But to someone, it offers much more.

Jace, with wings spread behind his bare back, stands with arms outstretched directly under the sun, letting his body absorb strength and courage from the life source of everything.

The wolves of the Titan Pack survey and map the area around the clearing. Sebastian supervises and directs Damon to open small cracks in the earth and cover them with branches and leaves. Stefan, Jason, and Johnny talk with JJ and Nicolae while the girls prepare their weapons. Matt and Alexander have gone to Lucifer to lead him back to the clearing. Finally, Lois cleans her whip and talks to Mary, who's pacing anxiously.

Lois: Come on, sister. My son has already opened a few cracks. That's all we need. Sit your ass down already.

Mary: I'm too worried to do that, Lois.

Lois: Here we go again! How many times are you going to fucking listen to this? Sebastian's not going to let anything happen to Jace.

Mary: I'm not worried about his physical integrity.

Lois: Then what're you worried about?

Mary: About his wings.

Lois: But Sebastian said ...

Mary: You don't understand, sis. Jace's hatred for Nathaniel is enormous. When he corners him like he does every time, he doesn't think about the consequences and ... God! He can't kill him, Lois. At least not while Nathaniel is still an angel.

Lois: He won't, Mary. His hatred for that bastard may be great, but his love for you is even greater. Jace will never sacrifice his eternity with you for revenge.

Mary: I hope you're right. Damn it! I need Alex. Where's he?

Lois: He'll be here soon. Lucifer asked Matt for directions and Alex went with him.

Mary: Shocking! They and their jealousy. Whatever. When are we going to do the blood thing?

Lois: As soon as your husband is done making out with the sun.

And indeed, sometime later, everyone is seated and ready to enjoy the hot spectacle. The protagonists stand close together and feel quite comfortable with what's about to happen. Not all of them, though.

Nicolae: Well ... I'd like to say something to Damon before we start.

Damon: What's it now, my dear ball-breaker?

Nicolae: Don't be a dick, you tailed freak, and keep your hands off me.

Sebastian: I'm sorry to tell you this, Nic, but it's more your hands that are out of control, not his.

Nicolae: Damn it! Do I really have to do this?

Jace: You and Damon are one, Nic. Only your own blood can amplify his power, and we need that power tonight. You two were born together for a reason.

Damon, who's strangely in a very good mood, puts his arm around Nic's shoulders.

Damon: That's right, winged freak. You and I are about to rock the world.

Nicolae: Why does that scare me now?

Damon: Because you're a buzzkill, but that's okay. I love you anyway.

The others laugh as Damon presses a kiss to Nicolae's cheek, which he wipes away in annoyance.

Sebastian: As funny as all this is, can we move on? I'm starting to get thirsty.

Jace: Yeah, but to be honest, I'd rather wait a little longer.

Lois: Why?

Mary: Don't you get it, Lois? He wants his Sweetheart to be here. That pesky damn eternal bond between them.

Jace: You can't understand, baby.

Mary: Then why don't you try explaining it to me? At least until my rival arrives.

Jace: Ok, my little sarcastic Angel. I'll do it with a quick pοll. Tell me, Stefan, when did you enjoy sex the most before Artemis?

Stefan: That's easy. When Jay was with me.

Jace: You, Jason?

Jason: Me too. When Stef was with me.

Jace: What about you, Sebastian?

Sebastian: Yeah. Jared.

Jace: What if we asked Jared?

Sebastian: He'd say the same thing.

Mary: Okay, my big, perverted Prince. I hear you. Stupid bromance thing!

While Jace blows Mary a kiss, Damon whispers something to Nicolae.

Damon: You understand what all this means, right?

Nicolae: Even though I don't like it at all, I understand.

Damon: You and I are going to have so much fun together, buddy.

Nicolae: Help me, God!

When Matt finally returned with Alexander and Lucifer, and of course asked why they hadn't finished drinking blood, he got his answer.

Matt: Really, Perverted? Making such a fuss about my presence?

Jace: Have you met me yet, Sweetheart?

Matt: I fucking have!

Jace: Then you'll do me this favor, won't you?

Matt: Have I ever told you no?

Jace: Yeah, but even then, you always do what I ask. Like now, when I'm asking you for a kiss.

Matt: Don't push your luck, Jace.

Jace: Okay. Okay. It's enough that I know you're watching me.

Matt: What am I going to do with you?

Jace: Are you going to love me forever, maybe?

Matt: Asshole!

Jace: Sweetheart!

Jace and Matt laugh before hugging, and then Lucifer whispers to Alexander.

Lucifer: And then you forbade me from touching your husband. Why don't you forbid Jace too? Do you love him that much?

Alexander: Yes, I love Jace very much, but I'm not doing it for him. I'm doing it for Matt. I love him too much to take away the most important thing he has- after me and our daughter, of course.

Lucifer: Exactly. Jace is indeed very important to him. He always has been. Unlike me, of course.

Alexander: You know what? I really don't understand why you're doing this. You're an archangel. You can have any man or woman you want. Why are you so obsessed with Matt? Because he's the only one who rejected you?

Lucifer: No. That's nothing to do with it. Matt was just the first one to give me the ax, but he wasn't the only one. I've been rejected by others, too.

Alexander: That's hard to believe.

Lucifer: And yet it's the truth, my friend.

Alexander: But I still don't understand why Matt.

Lucifer: I really don't know how to explain it to you. He's ... him. The angel of love. The one who awakened the feelings in me. Father thought, and maybe still thinks, that I don't know what love means, but that's not the case. I know it and I learned it the first time I saw Matt.

Alexander: I didn't know that was so ... important to you.

Lucifer: It doesn't matter. He's never seen me like this.

Alexander: Didn't you try it with him when you were still in heaven?

Lucifer: Of course, I did, but I didn't have much time. Soon after, Father created Jonathan and I lost any hope I might've had.

Alexander: I'm sorry to hear that.

Lucifer: Yes, I'm sorry too.

Alexander: And ... I thank you.

Lucifer: For what?

Alexander: For fighting with us, even though ... you know!

Lucifer: Who knows, my friend? Maybe I'm not as bad as everyone thinks.

Lucifer leans against a nearby tree and Alexander comes over to Matt, embraces him from behind and rests his chin on his shoulder.

Matt: I don't know about you, baby, but I can officially say that this is the sexiest scene I've ever seen, even though there's no sex involved.

Alexander follows Matt's gaze.

Alexander: All I can say is ... I agree with you so much.

And how could he not agree, since the sight of Jace and Mary sitting back-to-back on the ground, holding hands and sighing, while Sebastian and Lois drink directly from the central vein in their necks, kneeling between their legs. And a little further on, Nicolae, with his head thrown back and his eyes closed, enjoys Damon's bite on his wrist.

When the hybrids have quenched their thirst and filled their bodies with angelic power, they rise and wipe their lips with the back of their hands, while the angels fall back to the ground and try to catch their breath.

Even these movements look sexy and that's why the audience keeps their mouths shut. At least until Nicolae makes everyone laugh with his honest statement.

Nicolae: If this is what sex feels like, I can't wait to have it. Good Lord! That was freaking awesome!

Damon: You're welcome, buddy!

When the sun leaves its throne high up in the sky and passes the staff to the full moon, everything is ready in the clearing and everyone is in a fighting mood. Although the Night King adequately lights the area, Stefan has lit a few fires that Artemis keeps under control until she has to unleash them.

Jace, with Sebastian and Damon a step behind him, stands in the front row with Matt, Alexander, and Lucifer. Directly behind them are Stefan, Jason, and Johnny with the girls, while Mary stands at the back with Lois and Nicolae watching her back. JJ stands further back between Titan and his beta, a giant brown wolf, while the rest of the wolves hide in the cracks Damon dug earlier and covered with leaves. The demons that Lucifer brought with him are also waiting hidden in the shadows between the trees.

Elena, who's safe in the secret place with Matty, Eva and the humans, sends her father a picture that makes him smile.

Jace: Why are you smiling, Guardian?

Sebastian: Nathaniel and his army have reached the river and he's sent out scouts, who were immediately startled when they caught our scent and ran back to him. Now they're explaining to him how many we are and he ... You have to see his face.

Jace: Show me.

Sebastian puts two fingers to Jace's temple and transfers the image from Elena's vision to him. The smile that blossoms on Jace's face grows even wider as Damon, who also sees the image, suggests something.

Damon: How about another surprise for them, Dad?

Sebastian: Yes, Puppy. Do it.

Damon closes his eyes and concentrates for a moment. Nicolae's blood in his system allows him to control the elements from a distance and so, with a simple snap of his fingers, he causes the waters of the river near Nathaniel and his army to rush furiously toward them, scaring them to death. .

Jace and Sebastian, connected to the scene through Elena, laugh out loud.

Jace: Oh, my God! Look at them! The douchebags don't even know what happened to them.

Sebastian: Way to go, Puppy. You nailed it.

Damon turns and winks at Nicolae, who gives him a thumbs up.

Matt: How many are there, Guardian?

Sebastian: Too many.

Stefan looks to JJ, who reassures him with a nod.

Titan: Is the man with the rifle among them?

Sebastian: Yes.

An angry growl escapes Titan's throat and his Beta rushes over to calm him down.

Alexander: What are they?

Jace: Mostly humans, but there are others. Shapeshifters, werewolves, and a female vampire.

Jace looks at Sebastian, who grimaces.

Lois: Why the face, Guardian? Oh, no. Don't tell me ...

Sebastian's lips form an apology as he looks at Lois, who's seething with anger.

Lois: It's her, huh? Rebecca.

Sebastian: Yes.

Lois: How is such a thing possible?

Mary: It's not that hard, sister. She was approached by Nathaniel and took the opportunity to get even.

Lois: Very well. It's her funeral.

Sebastian: Moonborn ...

Lois: No! Not this time, Guardian. This time I'm going to rip that bitch's head off once and for all.

Jason turns to Matt.

Jason: Who's this Rebecca?

Matt: An ancient vampire. She's always been at odds with the Guardian for the favor of the night. He's been making his life hell for centuries.

Stefan: This Nathaniel has gathered the evil elite.

Lucifer: Tell me something, Guardian. Is Jerahel with them?

Sebastian: Yes.

Lucifer: She's mine. I warned her and she didn't listen.

Matt: And what about your wings?

Lucifer: I've renounced heaven. The sacred laws no longer apply to me.

Matt: And what? Are you just going to kill the Angel of Death?

Lucifer: You don't think I can do it, baby?

Matt: Quite the opposite. I just didn't know the Angel of Death could die.

Lucifer: Anyone can die, Theliel.

Jace: Not today, Lucifer. Not one of us. You can kill, but you can't be killed. Can y'all hear me? I FORBID YOU!

All together: Yes, sir!

Jace: Thank you!

Another image pops into Sebastian's head, sent by Elena, and he puts his hand on Jace's shoulder as he turns to the others.

Sebastian: They've started again. They'll be here in a few minutes. Get ready!

With a loud bang, various weapons appear. Shiny swords, sharp fangs, adamas daggers, flexible whips, and guns with adamas bullets. Everyone has something in their hand. All except JJ. He doesn't need anything. He has his hands.

An oppressive silence breaks out between them as our heroes count the minutes and seconds until their enemies appear. The only thing that can be heard is their breathing. They look at each other, but don't say goodbye. Their eyes speak, but not of defeat and death. Yes. Blood will be spilled that night, but not their blood. They don't like it, but they have to do it. After all, the end justifies the means.

All the time Jace saw Nathaniel through the images of Elena's visions, his hatred for him was somewhat tempered, but now that he appears in the clearing in the flesh, it overwhelms Jace. Seeing your eternal enemy alive in front of you is no small thing.

Now you're wondering if Nathaniel is a fool and just shows up alone. No. No, he's not a fool at all. He's just relying on Jace's honor as a soldier of God. A good soldier always fights honestly and never treacherously. Nathaniel relies on this and stands arrogantly a few feet away from Jace.

Nathaniel: Jonathan ... Long time no see, Angel of the Sun.

Jace: Nathaniel ... I haven't missed you at all, Angel of Fire.

Nathaniel laughs.

Nathaniel: Funny as always, brother.

Jace: I'm not your brother.

Nathaniel: We're all God's children, Jonathan. We're brothers whether you like it or not.

Jace: I don't like it.

Nathaniel: That's your problem, not mine.

Jace rolls his eyes as Nathaniel looks around.

Nathaniel: The way I see it, your society hasn't changed at all. You're still putting up with abominations.

Jace: Look who's talking! I'm not the one who hires monsters to do his dirty work.

Nathaniel: Really? Then why do you have one beside you and another guarding your wife?

The fires scatter around fuel as the earth begins to shake.

Sebastian: Easy there, Damon. Not yet.

The shaking stops and the fires begin to smolder again as Damon slowly gives vent to his anger. Nathaniel chuckles, but Sebastian isn't fazed and speaks calmly to him.

Sebastian: Where do we go from here, Nathaniel? Are we going to do what we came here to do, or are we going to continue chatting like bedfellows?

Nathaniel: I didn't know you had a death wish, Guardian?

Sebastian: Blah, blah, blah, asshole.

Seeing Nathaniel stalling, Jace purposely whispers to Sebastian, who responds in the same tone.

Jace: He's stalling on purpose.

Sebastian: His men are surrounding us.

Jace: Just as you predicted.

Sebastian: I didn't.

Jace: Exactly. God bless your daughter and her visions.

Nathaniel's loud voice interrupts them.

Nathaniel: Hey! What're you two talking about?

Jace / Sebastian: About your defeat, asshole.

Nathaniel: Not this time!

These words of Nathaniel are a kind of alarm, and no sooner are they out of his mouth than his army rushes into the clearing from all directions and surrounds our heroes, who immediately split into pairs, as Sebastian had ordered. They stand back-to-back ...

Jace with Sebastian, Damon with Nicolae, Mary with Lois, Stefan with Artemis, Jason with Cecilia, Johnny with Lucida, Matt with Alexander. Lucifer with the two wolves, Titan, and his Beta, keep JJ out of sight.

They look around at the numerous army approaching them menacingly. Huge monsters, shapeshifters with swords and werewolves with long claws. Humans, members of the "Guardians of the Natural Balance", with automatic weapons and rifles, and finally Nathaniel with his outstretched black wings and his fire-forged sword, between Rebecca, the powerful and beautiful old vampire, and Jerahel, the Angel of Death, who still looks like a teenage librarian.

Nathaniel: This is it, Jonathan. Your last chance. Give me Mariam and I'll let you live.

Jace looks to Mary, who nods to him, while Sebastian nods to Lucifer, Damon, and Titan.

Mary: Come and get me, you bastard!

Nathaniel: As you wish. ATTACK!

Everything happens just like in Elena's vision. Red everywhere. Blood everywhere. It wafts in the air. It splashes the trees and wets the grass. It changes color to violets.

I don't know what is most frightening ...

The hatred in Nathaniel's voice as he screams at his men to keep attacking, even as they're literally decimated by Jace's sword and Sebastian's daggers, who're dancing the beautiful dance of death in perfect synchronization like two killing machines.

The screams of joy of the demons who, at Lucifer's command, appear out of nowhere in the form of black smoke and take possession of people, tearing them apart from the inside out. They rejoice because for the first time they've permission to kill.

The roar of the wolves who, obeying their leader, literally burst through the crevices where they'd been hiding and attack the werewolves, amputating them.

Then there's Lucifer, who fights Jerahel with eyes reddened with rage and finally manages to rip out her heart with his own hands, while Lois, with Mary as her ally, pincers Rebecca and puts the whip around her neck. The vampire's skin burns at the contact with the sacred metal and she cries out in pain before losing her head and falling silent forever.

A little further on, Lucida drags the man with the rifle who'd shot Urania away from his comrades. Johnny pushes him to the ground and literally offers him to Titan, who slowly approaches and kills him by cutting off his head with his sharp teeth.

The noise of the battle is unimaginable. The screams of those burned alive by Stefan's and Artemis' holy fire, and those exploded by JJ's golden wave. The three fight as one, saving and helping each other.

Everyone is fighting and time is running out. No one knows how much time has passed when Matt, covered in blood like everyone else, stops fighting and looks down at the bloody carpet of corpses spread out at his feet. His eyes search for his loved ones. Alexander ... Lucida ... Jace and all the others. He counts the heads. One, two, three ... fifteen. Thank you, God! They're all alive. Bloody, sweaty, and tired, but alive. No loss.

But wait a minute! What's going on over there?

While literally walking over dead bodies, Matt approaches Jace and Sebastian, who're standing over someone. Who could that be? But of course ...

Nathaniel. The sole survivor of the numerous army he'd so painstakingly built over the years. The army he hoped would help him get revenge on his greatest enemy. The revenge he'll never get.

Despite his defeat, his ego and attitude haven't left him, and he looks down on Jace even now as he kneels wounded and unarmed at his feet.

Nathaniel: What're you waiting for, Jonathan? Kill me.

Jace: I'm waiting for an apology.

Nathaniel: You'll never get it.

Jace: Not even now, Nathaniel? Look around you. Your soldiers are all dead. They're dead because of you.

Nathaniel: Who cares about a few monsters and a few filthy humans? Inferior beings.

Hearing these words from Nathaniel, an idea arises in Jace's mind.

Jace: But an angel died, too.

Nathaniel: She chose it. She came and found me and offered herself to me. I didn't push her to do anything.

Jace: What kind of angel are you?

Nathaniel: A soulless one.

Sebastian puts his hand on Jace's shoulder.

Sebastian: This is getting us nowhere, brother. Let's get this over with.

Jace: You're right. Do it.

Nathaniel is horrified when he sees Sebastian walking behind him.

Nathaniel: What's he doing? Why is he walking behind me?

Jace: This is what you wanted, isn't it? This was your goal from the beginning. You want me to kill you and lose my wings.

Nathaniel: This is your only option, Jonathan. If you don't kill me, I'll hunt you again and this time I'll defeat you. Kill me or I'll kill everyone you love, one by one, starting with your whore.

A small flame leaps from Stefan's hand and dives into Nathaniel's mouth, burning his tongue.

Stefan: Watch your tongue, asshole. You're talking about my mother.

Like a panting dog, Nathaniel tries to put out the fire on his tongue.

Jace: Were you going to say something?

Nathaniel: Kill me already, you bastard!

Jace: As you wish, but first ... Could you, Guardian?

Sebastian: With pleasure.

With a little pressure high up on Nathaniel's back, Sebastian forces him to spread his wings. Immediately after, while the angel cries out in despair, he puts his foot between the wings and tears them off with all his might, creating two deep wounds in Nathaniel's skin, who almost faints from the pain. Jace grabs him and gives him a slap on the cheek.

Jace: No, no. Don't pass out yet, you idiot. I'm not done with you yet.

Nathaniel opens his eyes with difficulty and sees Sebastian throwing the bloody wings at Stefan's feet.

Sebastian: Burn them, Stef!

Nathaniel screams again as the black feathers burst into flames, lighting up his tear-stained face. His condition is pathetic. We could still feel sorry for him if we didn't know what a piece of shit he really is.

Jace, who he's told him is far from finished with him, offers Mary his sword.

Jace: Would you do us the honor, Mariam? Your hand will hurt him even more.

Mary: I'd love to.

Jace grabs Nathaniel by the hair, who stops struggling, and throws his head back so his throat is exposed. Mary raises the sword.

Mary: This is for all the times you killed me, you asshole!

She tears the skin just above the Adam's apple on Nathaniel's throat.

Jace: You're up, JJ.

JJ walks over, pulls a glass bottle out of his pocket and removes the cork. He brings the bottle near the wound and with a small movement of his fingers "commands" Nathaniel for his grace to leave his body.

When he's finished, he corks the bottle and puts it back in his pocket.

JJ: For future use.

As a human, Nathaniel falls back to the ground, out of breath.

Nathaniel: Clever, Jonathan. I'll give you that. You made me human so you could kill me without falling.

Jace: Who told you I was going to kill you?

Nathaniel: What? No! No! You can't do this to me! I'm begging you! Don't make me live like a human. I hate humans.

Jace: You've caused me a lot of pain over the centuries, Nathaniel. Because of you, I'm born again and again, only to lose the woman I love. But that's over now. It's time you experienced some of that pain, too.

Nathaniel: No... Please!

Jace: I wish you a long human life, Nathaniel.

Lucifer approaches and after patting Jace on the back appreciatively, he grabs Nathaniel, spreads his wings and flies away as his demons follow him. The wolves make their way home and the others gather around Jace.

JJ: What now, Grandpa?

Jace: Now we clean up here and then we go home, JJ. Give directions, Guardian.

Sebastian takes the floor.

Sebastian: Stack the bodies for Stefan and Artemis to burn. Once they're done, Damon, you call the wind to scatter the ashes and the water to wash away the blood.

As the others carry out the orders, Mary and Lois walk toward their men, who embrace them.

Lois: It's over, Guardian.

Sebastian: No more Guardian and Moonborn. From now on, it's just Sebastian and Lois. The Wolf and his Kitten.

Mary: And what about us, Jonathan?

Jace: Same thing, baby. No more Jonathan and Mariam. You and I will always be Jace and Mary. The Prince and his Angel.
