Plans And Headaches
"That concludes our meeting today. We will regroup and resume tomorrow". Ezra got up from her seat shaking each Pyrokinesis general and lieutenants hand. Jerome stood beside her bidding farewell as well.
When everyone had left she was about to leave when Jerome had pulled her arm. "Can we talk for a minute" ? Confused she followed him out of the meeting room.
He lead her to the music room where he closed the door after her. "What did you want to talk about" she asked crossing her arms over her body.
"I wanted to talk about my brother. He's... he hasn't been himself lately. I was simply wondering if it had something to do with you"? Rolling her eyes she sat down on one of the piano benches.
"We got into a small fight the other day. It was no big deal... we won't be seeing each other anymore so you have nothing to worry about" she said looking down. After their little fight she hadn't seen Shogun around the mansion.
She had thought he only said those words due to anger. But it turns out he actually meant it. "Well it can't be helped. Maybe now we can start working on getting to know one another" Jerome hopefully. When he had left early this morning he had found Shogun just coming back from a ride in the meadows.
He had told him he would be coming to the Grinverdale mansion and asked if he wanted to tag along. But he simply refused. Which was definitely a first, he made a mental note to see how he was holding up later.
"Well...uh later we are supposed to look at some decorations for the wedding. I guess I'll see you then". He left without another word leaving her to her own thoughts. With a deep sigh she contemplated on how things had gotten worse.
When later came around Ezra was swarmed with different fabrics to flowers. The whole thing became too much that she had to step outside for a bit of air. In just six months she would be married off.
That's if she didn't somehow find out some way in getting her powers. Callie had came over for some tea and they chatted away.
"Sooo how are things with you and that secret admirer"? Callie asked with with a wink. It caught her off guard as she and Shogun had only stopped talking a couple of days ago.
"Well...let's just say I was wrong. Nothing can happen between us so thats that" she said lifting her tea cup to her lips.
"Oh... did something happen between you two"? Callie looked at her confused wondering how her feelings could have changed so suddenly.
"He just... wasn't the person I thought he was" Ezra stated wanting to be done with this conversation. Callie getting the memo stopped pressuring her. She knew Ezra better than anyone and she could definitely tell she was lying to her. She could practically see the hurt in her eyes but she would leave things be for now.
"Sooo have you given my plan some thought"? Callie asked seeming hopeful. Ezra had been thinking about her plan. It was risky but if she didn't want to get married in next couple of months she needed to move fast.
"Well I have been thinking over your grand plan and... I'm in" she said. Callie squealed loudly pulling her in for a hug.
"But... before I can even think about going anywhere we need to make up a realistic reason. How long will it take for us to get there" Ezra asked. If she were to go missing for a couple of hours her father would send out every guard in the nation to find her.
"It would only take a day at most. She works fast and I've been in contact with her. She actually has started working on your case. I told her how short on time you were so she got started right away".
Ezra felt relieved. "Callie you really are the best friend a girl could ever ask for" she hugged her tight before letting her go.
"We aren't done yet missy. We still need to make up some excuse so that your father isn't suspicious". Ezra got to thinking but her mind was blank.
"I... I got nothing" Ezra said with a sigh. Her mind was just all over the place lately and she barely had time to relax and figure things out.
"Just sleep on it. I'm sure you'll be able to figure it out. But do so quickly before it's too late" Callie warned. They spent the rest of the evening chatting before it was time for Callie to head home.
The next morning Ezra had to wake bright and early for a dance lesson. "You need to look your partner in the eye, feel the rhythm" Ezra rolled her eyes as Jerome spun her around. They were having dancing lessons as her father thought it would help them get closer.
"Okay let's take a ten minute break and then regroup" The dancing instructor said. Ezra pulled away from Jerome.
"So I've been thinking. I think we should spend the rest of the day together you know so we can get to know each other" Jerome says biting into an apple.
"Yeah no I don't think so. I have alot of work that needs to get done" she quipped. She plopped herself down on the couch laying her head back.
"Your gonna have to let me in Ezra. One way or another I'm going to be your husband" with one last look he left her be. She been up all night contemplating on what excuse she could give her father.
It wasn't easy as her father could possibly say it was too dangerous for the future queen to travel. But she was hoping he had a heart and would understand she needed a break. She'd make him believe that she was trustworthy.
Then she would carry out the plan at dawn.
