At Night Fall

The next morning everyone had woken up bright and early. Shogun had instructed that they all remain as if nothing was out of the norm. They ate breakfast silently as Ezra glanced sullenly over at Emily's empty seat.

Shogun grabbed her hand underneath the table. She sent him a gentle smile but there little moment didn't go unnoticed. Elizabeth felt her heart shatter and her she balled her fists. "So I've been doing some thinking last night. I'd like to go with you if that's alright" she said sassily biting into a bagel.

"That's not happening. We need you to stay here with Jerome  no one can be suspicious of us" Shogun said giving her a look of warning.

"That's why I think I should go instead of Ezra. She's the future queen, we could all get into serious trouble because of her" Elizabeth snapped. Ezra noticed her attitude which did not go unnoticed.

"And what exactly are you implying? You can leave if you feel some type of way by all means. No one is begging you to stay" she said with a smirk. Ezra had thought they had worked things out last night so she couldn't understand what was with her hostile attitude.

Having enough of the conversation Elizabeth got up from the table and out of the room. "Welp that went well" Callie commented with a shrug. Shogun got up from his seat to go after her. Ezra continued to chomp away on her buttered toast.

"She is right you know. Letting you leave the manor is quite dangerous. You are the future queen after all" Jerome said giving her a serious look from the across the table.

"If someone says I am the future queen one more time I'm going to scream! You think I don't know that already, I am quite aware of what is at stake so please stop reminding me" she whispered yelled. As a guard stood by the door.

The atmosphere had turned to one that was tense. Meanwhile Shogun chased Elizabeth out to the manor garden. She tried hard to force the tears back but she couldn't deny the pain in her heart.

"Elizabeth... are you alright"? He came to wrap his arms around her but she wasn't in the mood to be in his embrace.

"Does it look like I'm alright? Truly Shogun why are you even marrying me"?! Her question had caught him off guard that he had to think hard on how to answer it.

"Well... you are a beautiful girl and I think we could make a great couple" he said scratching the back of his neck. That was not what she had wanted to hear.

"Is that it? Is that all I am to you? Shogun... I love you" she confessed grabbing his hand whe placed it on her chest. "My heart is yours, only you have it".

Shogun gulped nervously. He had no idea what to say to that confession. "Elizabeth... you are a great girl. I cherish our friendship... I really do"-

"Do you not love me"? She looked at him with a hurt expression. She suddenly felt embarrassed by her forward confession. Some part of her had thought she read all the signs right.

"I like you Elizabeth I really do... but I will not lie and say that... I love you just yet... that's why we came on this trip to get to know each-"

She silenced him with a slap to the face. "You bastard! I have done nothing for you to say that to me! I can't believe how stupid I was to actually believe you loved me the way I love you! You can rot in hell for all I care"! She ran back into the manor ready to confront Ezra for being the root of her relationship problems.

Ezra had been eating quietly when a red faced Elizabeth came back into the dining room. "This is all your fault! I told you to stay away from him but you just kept throwing yourself at him! You aren't a queen your just some slut that likes to throw yourself at anyone! I will never bow down to you and I will not call you my queen"!

Ezra stared at the girl with a bored look. "Are you finished. I'd really like to enjoy my breakfast in peace. Whether or not I am a queen to you is not my problem. But as future queen you will do as I say because if you don't you won't like the outcome" she narrowed her eyes at the red head.

Shogun came in frantically with a faint red hand mark on his cheek. "Elizabeth that's enough! If you don't want to talk civilly you can leave"! The whole room went quiet as Elizabeth ran out once again loudly sobbing.

Nothing else was said and for the rest of the day everyone remained in there rooms. Ezra had done some knitting while chatting with Callie. Shogun had gone for a horse ride around the manor. Jerome sat in his room reviewing over some important documents. Elizabeth had remained in her room all day refusing to come out.

When night had approached Shogun called everyone to the sitting room. "Tonight Ezra, Callie, and I will be going into the tunnel. We'll tie a rope to a tree so that we'll be able to come back through the same way".

"And what about the guards? They'll know she's missing and they are around the whole manor. It won't be easy to leave" Jerome said crossing his arms.

"That's why you'll say that we decided to do a little camping trip. It shouldn't take us long. We'll only be gone for a few hours and we'll be back before they are suspicious". Shogun had thought everything out in case any should go wrong.

With a plan intact they all got ready for the long night that awaited them. Ezra decided to bring a small bag of small necessities such as certain medicines and water. She wore a dark cloak that would cover her face.

When she and Callie were finished collecting there stuff they met Shogun outside. Jerome gave them the signal to leave out the  back door of the manor and they quickly made there way to the well. Elizabeth watched them leave from the window.

Still feeling anger from earlier she grabbed her cloak before heading downstairs. "Where do you think your  going" ? Jerome asked as he stopped her to see she had her cloak on.

"I need a bit of fresh air" she pushed him out her way about to open the back door to the manor.

"Well hang on a minute I'll go with you" he said just as he was about to get his coat Elizabeth stopped him.

"I need fresh air alone. I just need to clear my head" she said convincingly. With a hesitant nod he watched her from a window walk out to sit on the back of the porch. He still had a bunch of papers to sign so with one last look he left to go back to his room.

Elizabeth sat on the porch a few mintues more before checking to see if Jerome had left. When she saw he had left she got up quietly heading down the path towards the well.
