Chapter 4: Not Like The Others

She couldn't take it anymore, this kind but frightened being in front of her made her realize that she could never go home. When Rümvo had fallen through the portal it had closed behind her as if it had never existed.

Now she could only do what she hadn't done since the death of her father.

Tears slid down her cheeks while she bought her hands to wipe away the tears. However she noticed the strange way her hands looked. They were no longer chalk white but pale with a beautiful tinge of pink.

"My skin..." she glanced up and caught her reflection on the smooth surface of the table. Her large, completely black eyes where now brown. Her bright hair was no longer white but it was the same shade as her eyes. She wanted to scream and cry but it seems as if her body ceased to work, submitting itself into total darkness.

Thump.

Charles stood still, his mouth parted open in shock. First she cries and then passes out? What kind of woman was she? He kneeled by her side, checking if she was still breathing. Her chest rose and fell steadily much to his relief. However a red tint caught his attention, the blood slowly seeping from the wound in her arm.

A sudden knock bought him out of his tiny moment of panic and quickly darted towards the door.

Sam stood in front of the door, carrying Robert on her hip. Charles quickly opened the door, frantically trying to explain his situation to his neighbor.

"Sam... T-there's a cave woman trying to k-kid-nap me!" he said, "And now she's passed out! Th-there's blood!"

Sam's eyebrows came together in confusion, "Who Charles?" she said, gently setting Robert down who was too busy playing games on his mother's phone.

"Some crazy cave lady," he said opening the door and pointing to the woman who was still unconscious on his cherry wood floor.

Sam quickly darted inside and knelt beside the woman, "Jesus Christ Charles, what did you do to the poor woman?"

Charles blushed and rubbed the back of his head, "I did nothing! I swear!"

"Help me take her to your bed," Sam said, as Charles took her arm while his arm wrapped around her slim waist. His close proximity to the woman bought her scent to his nostrils, a wave of sweet lavender filling his lungs.

"Charles?" Sam asked, taking him out of his reverie.

"Oh, yeah. Sorry," he muttered, tugging the woman towards his room.

He placed her on his bed, the fur of her clothes tickling his skin.

"Sam? Charles?" a deep voice said from the entrance of his home.

"Over here Bogio!" Sam said while pulling a first aid kit from Charles's bathroom.

Vulbogiô's footsteps became louder as he neared them before skidding into a sudden stop. Charles turned to look at him out of habit but his face was pale as a sheet.

"Something wrong Bogio?" Sam asked when she looked up from attending the unconscious woman.

Vulbogiô rose his shaking hand through his hair, "That woman... Where did she come from?"

Charles's eyebrows furrowed with concern, "She just fell out of nowhere on my flowers."

"Out of nowhere you say?"

Sam's own features shifted into recognition, "Just like Vulbogiô."

"Where is her stuff?" the violet eyed man said.

"What is going on? I don't understand," he spoke as he guided Vulbogiô to the kitchen where her belongings were on the countertop.

The black bow and the blade laid on the countertop, along with a small bag on the floor. Vulbogiô stared at the black bow, his eyes staring blankly.

"I recognize this bow. It belonged to one of my father's generals," he whispered.

Charles's brow furrowed, "I'm confused."

"Did she say where she was from?"

"Iürus," he confirmed.

"Gods," Vulbogiô said breathlessly, "She must have gone through the portal."
