One twisted love game with a good ending

"Where is she?" I muttered to myself, trailing across the school field, my green eyes roaming for a single glance of her. "She's disappeared... I hope she hasn't collapsed somewhere..."

After she had left the nurses office I had stood, motionless, in utter silence. I felt like I had missed my chance, and I could feel my emotions slowly dying inside me, numbing my awareness. Why hadn't I just told her how I felt? That answer was easy enough. I was afraid of being rejected, of being cast aside like a worthless object. This had been one of the first times I had ever experienced being afraid... but it was not an unwelcome feeling. How had this innocent girl captured me so easily? Was I truly this easily captivated? Or was she something different? Someone new; with a beautiful smile and the deepest eyes that held my gaze like no other.

"Hey!" I turned around and saw a young-ish looking boy with stark white hair and bright magenta eyes skipping towards me, brandishing a book with pirates on the front cover. He stopped a few feet short of me, and though he was taller -by perhaps one inch- he held his stance much like that of a child, never staying still.

"What?" I asked, annoying at being interrupted by an overactive nut-job, while searching for someone.

"Are you Noiz-san?"

"How-?" What the hell was this kid?! How did he know my name? His smile never faltered as he continued.

"(name)-san is looking for you! C'mon!"

"S- She is?"

"Aye! I'm being a pirate!" But I didn't move, still stuck on the thought that she might be searching for me as well. Why would she be? We had, after all, argued and then she left; still presumably mad at me. Maybe I hadn't lost my chance after all... just maybe. I hurried after the albino boy, my heart feeling lighter than it had in years.

"Clear's just texted me, he said 'Found Noiz-san! Meet you at the Oak Aoba-san!'." Aoba muttered as he jumped down the last few steps to join you. In an attempt to find Noiz before the bell rung, Clear , Koujaku and Mizuki had split up to search the school grounds; leaving you and Aoba to roam the corridors.

"He still hasn't got the hang of text-talk, has he?" You mused, a faint smile gracing your features.

"Nope. And I don't think he ever will if I'm truthfully honest." Aoba laughed.

"Imagine if he did though. Maybe he would just talk like that all the time and that would be wierd."

"True. Right, we've got 8 minutes, you ready?" Aoba shoved his phone back in his pocket, glancing at you to make sure you weren't getting cold feet, or considering backing out.

"Ready as I'll ever be." You hardened your heart and began to run after Aoba, determined to find out what exactly it was that Noiz had wanted to say.

"What're you looking at old man?" I directed my insult at the towering figure that stood beside me, his arms crossed and a resolute expression on his face. I had no idea who he was, but the albino -who I now knew as Clear- just ignored him and kept reading his book under the shade of the Oak tree.

"I'm not an old man you little twerp! Be careful what you say." I had clearly dented the guy's pride, and it amused me to see such a confident person ruffled.

"Whatever."

"Aoba-san, (name)-san, Mizuki-san!" Clear suddenly leaped up and was frantically waving at two approaching figures. My heart skipped a few beats as I recognized her, but I hoped my face didn't show it. I didn't want this old guy making any assumptions that weren't true... or were true.

"Well? Did you make your decisions?" The bluenette who I presumed was called Aoba -or Mizuki- approached the tall boy and Clear, and began to mutter something suspicious.

"We were waiting for you Aoba-san."

"What are you guys on about?"

"He needs to be worthy of you name-san! That's what we decided!" Clear answered nonchalantly.

"Eh?!"

"You're like family to us! We can't have you going round dating weirdoes." Koujaku agreed, emphasising the word 'weirdo' and pointedly glaring at me. I shrugged it off, accidently catching her eye. We held each other's gaze for what seemed like forever, but in reality was only milliseconds long. She broke our contact, an expression of guilt flooding her eyes and a faint blush tinting her cheeks as she remained focused on her friends. This should be amusing...

You caught his stark green gaze temporarily, which you tried calmly to return. But your heart began to race; hammering against your ribcage and making butterflies awaken in your stomach; and you felt a wave of heat rising to your cheeks. Making sure you weren't dismissing him, you held his gaze until you felt your blush was to obvious, and had to look away; trying to watch the huddled group of your so-called friends as they discussed whether this boy would be worthy of you. Couldn't anything just be normal?

Apparently not.

"Question 1!" Clear announced. Koujaku, Aoba, Mizuki and Clear sat opposite you and Noiz, placards held in their grip. Was this some kind of twisted game show? Well, whatever it was they were carrying it out anyway, despite your mild protests. Noiz was silent, thought there was a hint of amusement in his tinted jade eyes.

"What makes (name) stand out from other girls?" Aoba's question came first. You waited, forgetting to breathe as Noiz gave his answer, as though well rehearsed.

"She holds herself with a self-confident pride, but she doesn't flounce her beauty to every guy that walks past. Her eyes sparkle in the light, and when the sun hits her; she glows like an angel, with a voice of pure melody. Need more?"

"Pass!" Aoba said, winking at you. Your heart was beating faster and faster, and for a second you wondered whether it was healthy to be so nervous about a boy. Oh well.

"My turn. When did you first fall for this beautiful lady?"

"When she crashed into me in the corridor. But I didn't realise until she passed out and I carried her to the nurse's office. I refused to leave. I questioned it and realised that I must have fallen in love with her."

"Fair enough." Mizuki looked satisfied enough with Noiz's answer, and you saw him glance at you through your peripheral vision, although you couldn't bring yourself to meet his triumphant gaze.

"My turn then! Little sneaky motherfu-" Koujaku began his string of curses, but Aoba swiftly dealt a blow to the back of his head, rending him dazed.

"Clear's turn! Noiz-san, would you do anything for (name)-san?"

"Anything." Noiz relied instantly, although not hastily. He never paused, not took his gaze away from the albino as he held his sincere gaze.

"You passed! You may now kiss the bride, aye!" Clear exclaimed, with a joyful bounce and wide grin.

"Hey hey hey! No kissing, what about me?! I want to ask this little runt something!" Koujaku interrupted, angrily rubbing the back of his head with a grimace; and a glare shot in Aoba's direction.

"Go ahead, or do you need some Viagra to help you along?" Koujaku ignored Noiz's swift insult and carried on.

"Why do you think you should be able to date (name)? What makes you so special?"

"Nothing. I would like to be (name)'s boyfriend, but I'm not perfect. I just hope I can do for now, until she gets sick of me. Or I have to buy her a puppy." Noiz winked, a smirk gracing his features; but you could see he was totally serious. There was fear, happiness and love mixed in his eyes, and you hoped that it was reflected in your own.

"Fine. Whatever, pass. Flipping blonde bas-" Aoba shoved a handful of grass in Koujaku's mouth, causing him to stutter and choke. You looked over, alarmed, but Mizuki smiled encouragingly.

"Go ahead lovebirds." Noiz turned to you, and you bit your lip nervously. You knew what he was going to ask, and you knew your answer. Why were you so nervous then? It wasn't a sickly type of nervous, rather a heart warming nervousness that warmed your body. Noiz opened his mouth, but you interrupted, smirking a little.

"Yes." Noiz grinned, leaning in and closing the gap between you. Your lips met and you felt his passion tingle upon your lips, making your head spin and stomach swirl. You both broke contact in synchronised gasps for air, eyes still locked.

"Good?"

"You'll do." Noiz laughed and suddenly picked you up, swinging you into a bridal style position and carrying you across the field, towards classes that started about 10 minutes ago. Aoba and Mizuki wolf-whistled, while Clear laughed and sang a cheerful song; Koujaku grumbling but nonetheless smiling when he caught your overjoyed gaze.

"I love you."

"I love you too."

So much can happen in one day.

So be ready for it, and most importantly,

Don't forget your lunch!
