I'll Be In The Back Row
Seeing the mother of the twins again was a cold shower for Oz, the day after setting up the deal of his career. With a huge potential to backfire, but maybe the prosecutors would decide an affair with a person of interest who wouldn't take no for an answer and made him afraid for his cover wasn't relevant to the case, having nothing to do with Franco's money. It gave the defense some ammo, though. Oz was more relaxed now that the deal was signed.
Alina Walter had a small bag with her, she had been advised not to take too much luggage. Oz nodded as a salute, opening the door to the nondescript police car that would take her to the DA's office.
"Everything is ready," he assured her. The girls would follow as soon as the deal was signed.
"I've never left them alone with him. I fear he might do something," Alina Walter said.
"It will be a fast statement, then they come for him. They will never be in danger. I'm here," he said, in his confident detective voice he so rarely used anymore.
Alina Walter raised the window door. "I'd rather you stayed away from my daughter. I'd hate for us to die because you couldn't do your job."
The car left Oz considering whether his career was the worst thing he could lose.
The movie experience the twins had planned was set in the afternoon, to not inconvenience too many people. Oz was caught off guard by the sisters surrounding him, each grabbing one of his arms on his way from the mall underground parking. He expected to eat fast food with Viorel and Stan by the exit door like the men preferred ever since their first "friends with benefits" themed rom-com.
"Hi, Oz, is it?" Left Smile said. "Why don't you join us in the theater? There's room," she pushed into his body as if to contradict her own words.
"Yeah, sit with us. You love romantic comedies, don't you?" Right Smile clung to his shoulder, beaming with innuendo.
For the first time, he thought he could tell a difference between them: the way they approached him. One of them purred into him, like a cat does when with a stranger, trying to get their attention. The other leaned into him, a lot more comfortable, the side of her breast not shy about touching his bare arm. Oz slid his hand down on her ass, making her let go of him, prompting the other sister to detach, too. They looked at each other, identically scared, then they went for the theater entrance, switching sides as they walked. The first time he blinked, he couldn't tell who was who, anymore.
Since he now had something on his nemesis, Oz could not let her and her sister form a defense. Or worse, an offense. He followed them.
Inside, the devious duo waved sarcastically, moving to leave an empty seat between them, halfway up the rows of chairs, in the middle of the theatre. He took a step towards them, saw their smiles fade, then went for them, taking that seat. It was better that he intimidated instead of being intimidated -- for the mission, he rationalized further. Instantly regrouping, the twins moved on to trying to make him uncomfortable once he was in their reach. Oz let them touch his shoulder, lean against his side. Waiting for Naughty Twin to reveal herself. Soon enough, there was Right Side touching his facial hair, smiling like it was the first time she'd ever felt a beard. Left Side leaning into him like he was part of the armrest. He turned to her ear, "I'll be in the back row if you want to talk alone."
He then got up, and let them watch the movie.
