Chapter Seven, The Game
Chapter Seven, The Game
Evie smiled at her twin sister through the mirror as she braided her sister's hair in an elaborate style to keep it out of her face during the game.
"So, how're things with Jay?" Evie asked slyly, smirking victoriously when a small blush appeared on Eris's cheeks.
"They're good. Really good." Eris smiled, feeling rather surprised that things were working out so well. "How're things with Doug?" She asked slyly, smirking as Evie was the one to now blush.
"Shut up." Evie admonished lightly, finishing off her sister's hair as she did her own makeup.
They took it in turns to do each other's hair, Eris had already braided part of Evie's hair.
"When will you go out with Jay?" Evie asked seriously, she just wanted her little sister to be happy after what happened with Harry.
"When you forget about that arrogant ass, Chad, and go out with Doug. He likes you for you and I can tell you like him too, Evie." Eris stated, reaching you to clasp her sister's hand. Evie was silent as she thought over what Eris had said, and she had to admit her sister had a point.
"Okay." Evie agreed, kissing Eris's cheek, she didn't know what she'd do without her twin.
"Good. I just want you to be happy Evie. As much as you want me." Eris whispered happily.
"I know." Evie smiled, hugging Eris around the shoulders. "We better get you to the field." Evie stated, looking at the time.
"Before the prissy pink princesses descend upon us." Eris groaned, laughing with her twin as they linked arms heading for tourney field.

Arriving by the lockers where they were to meet the others, Eris nudged Evie gently and nodded over to Doug who was nervously making his way over to them.
"Now's your chance." Eris whispered.
"Hi Doug." Evie smiled shyly, a small smirk on her lips as Doug blushed.
"Hi Evie. Hi Eris." Doug muttered nervously. "Evie I was wondering if -"
"I'll give you two some privacy." Eris untangled her arm from her sister's, walking away a few feet, until she was out of earshot but Evie was still within her sights. Leaning against the pillar Eris smiled tightly at the girls who called her name and waved excitedly.
'They're only excited because Evie, Mal and I did their hair-do's.' Eris scoffed internally, wiggling her fingers at them so they'd leave her alone when she suddenly felt an arm wrap around her shoulders.
"You have one second to remove your arm before I break it!" Eris hissed, turning to look over her shoulder, hand raised to grab the offending arm to forcefully remove it and a scowl on her face, only to realise it was Jay.
"I'm offended you'd even think of breaking my arm, E!" Jay gasped dramatically, hand placed over his chest.
"Well, you know better than to sneak up on me." Eris sassed, their seriousness lasted all of two seconds before they delved into laughter.
"You look really good, E. You can definitely pull anything off." Jay complimented a light pink dusting his tanned cheeks.
"Thanks Jay." Eris smiled, kissing his cheek. "I know you'll do great today."
"Thank you. I was wondering - if you don't want to, it's fine, it won't ruin our friendship, but I have to ask -" Jay rambled nervously, rubbing the back of his neck.
'He's rather cute when he rambles.' Eris thought with a blush and small giggle.
"Jay, deep breaths and try again."
Laughing at himself Jay nodded, taking deep breaths he tried again.
"I was wondering if you'd like to go out with me?" He asked, nervous but no longer rambling.
"I'd love to, Jay." Eris beamed happily.
"Really?" Jay asked excitedly, his grin widened as Eris nodded. Laughing he scooped her up and spun her around as they both laughed giddily, not caring of the attention they were gathering.
"E!" Evie exclaimed, just as giddy as her little sister, Doug not far behind her. After one last spin Jay placed Eris back on her feet. "I took your advice and agreed to go out with Doug!" She added happily, embracing her sister tightly. "Thank you." She whispered, before pulling back. "Looks like you took mine too." She teased, hugging her sister again as Eris whispered her own gratitude. When they separated, however, they both had firm looks on their faces as Evie turned to Jay and and Eris turned to Doug; they both threatened the two boys against hurting their twin.
"Hey guys." Carlos interrupted, approaching them just as Doug and Jay had promised that they'd never hurt Evie and Eris respectively. "Showtime." He added, nodding to Mal.
Understanding why was about to happen the twins held hands as they crept up to their sister who was about to douse Ben in a Love potion courtesy of a chocolate chip cookie, the three boys chattering away behind them as Doug officially became apart of the VK through Evie (his girlfriend) and Eris and Carlos (his friends), despite not knowing Doug very well Jay could tell he was a good guy and good for Evie and swore to himself he'd make an effort to get to know him. He was suddenly brought out of his thoughts by Mal as she tricked Ben.
"No it's smart." Mal interrupted whatever Ben had said. "Be careful of treats offered by villain kids. Oh, well." She shrugged, letting out a put-upon sigh. "More for me, I guess." As she went to take a bite Ben snatched it from her quickly taking a bite.
"See," Ben said with a mouthful of cookie. "Totally trust you. Totally." Mal looked over her shoulder at her friends and sisters.
"How are they?" Mal asked curiously.
"They're good. They're great! They're amazing!" Ben rambled, seemingly loved-up. "They're.... I mean, there chewy and... is that walnuts and chocolate chips?" Mal nodded, her smirk growing on her face. "I love walnuts AND chocolate chips." Ben chuckled, he went to say more when he trailed off seemingly confused when suddenly the confusion was gone as he stared into Mal's eyes. Not noticing Jay, Eris, Evie, Carlos and Doug were creeping closer to them. As Doug had always been an outsider amongst the Auradon kids, including his own cousins, due to his brains he had no problem integrating with the VKs.
Especially as he was friends with Carlos and Eris and dating Evie, and he knew just from observing how close Evie and Eris were with each other, more-so than they were with their other sister, Jay and Carlos, and they were already a tight-knit group.
"Mal, have you always had those golden flecks in your eyes?" Ben asked as he went to take another bite only for Mal to snatch the cookie from him, slipping it back into the ziplock bag.
"How're you feeling, bro?" Jay asked, slinging his arm over Ben's shoulders.
"I feel.... I feel... I feel like singing your name: Mal! MAL!! MAL!!!" Ben's shouts were starting to attract attention so Mal quickly covered his mouth with her hand muffling his shouts.

"WOOH! GO JAY! GO CARLOS!" Eris cheered, noticing her now boyfriend and best friend were finally brought off the bench and onto the field as the game was winding down; the other team were in the lead and no qualms against rubbing it in.
"There are other plays on the field, you know? Like, I dunno, my Bennyboo, your King." Audrey hissed.
"Really?" Eris asked sarcastically. "I didn't know!" She rolled her eyes, turning them back to the game and ignoring the other girls laughing at Audrey and the glare directed her way by Audrey and her posse. Eris closed her eyes taking deep breaths as she could feel her eyes changing to gold and her hair to erupt in blue flames - despite the braids - one thing she knew for certain was she was getting really sick of these stuck-up, prissy pink Princesses.
