Chapter Nine, Family Day Disaster

Chapter Nine, Family Day Disaster

On Friday during their last class of the day - Goodness 101 - their teacher and Headmistress Fairy Godmother called a halt to their lesson.
"Children, excuse me. As you may have heard that Sunday is Family Day, and um.... As your families couldn't be here due to distance, I have arranged this little treat for you all." Fairy Godmother informed them, stepping aside to reveal a tv in front of the blackboard which she switched on to reveal the zoomed in faces of their parents.
"Evie, Eris, it's Mummy!" Regina aka the Evil Queen exclaimed excitedly, once they had managed to work out the laptop so they could see their children.

"Look how beautiful my twins are. You know what they say: the poison apple - but apples, in this case - doesn't fall far from the tree." Regina bragged, which only succeeded in angering Maleficent.
"Don't you mean the weeds!?" Maleficent sneered.
"Burn!" Jafar laughed, thoroughly entertained by the two and not even noticing that Eris and Jay had their fingers intertwined; none of them noticed.
"Who's the old bat!?" Cruella exclaimed alarmed.
"This is Fairy Godmother." Mal introduced, hoping - like all of them - to actually get some affection from her mother, but they were once again proven wrong when all they got about was riling each other and Fairy Godmother up and informing them not-so-subtly about the mission they'd been given.

And it only went downhill from there until Jay had enough of his girlfriend, best friends, and himself being mocked and bullied and made not to feel good enough for their own parents' love and affection that he switched the tv off.
"I'm... I'm so sorry." Fairy Godmother apologised remorsefully, she now understands what the children on the Isle went through and what their lives were like. It made her incredibly sad that not once were these children asked how they were.
"Thanks for the special treat." Jay muttered, he knew she had tried, but it would seem that their parents would never change.
"M?" Evie and Eris asked, once they reached the door and out of earshot of the Headmistress.
"What do you think our parents are gonna do to us -"
"-if we don't pull this off?" Eris finished for Evie.

"I think they will be quietly disappointed in us but ultimately proud of us for doing our best." Mal informed them, trying to convince them and herself.
"Really?" Carlos asked sceptically.
"No. We are definitely goners." Mal sighed.
"That's why I feared." Jay muttered.

Sunday had arrived and the VKs were not looking forward to it at all as they knew some like Audrey and Chad would rub it in that their families were there; however they knew they had to go, but that didn't mean they had to be on time.
"Are you three ready yet?" Carlos asked, knocking on Evie and Eris' door, Jay standing beside him. The next second Mal opened the door dressed in a purple skirt suit, Evie wore a dark blue and black dress with a sort of short cape around her shoulders and finally, Eris.

"Wow!" Jay muttered, enthralled. "You look beautiful, E!" Eris wore a black dress with a chiffon train at the back while stopping above her knees at the front, she had paired it with black ankle boots, blue makeup and nails and a skull necklace.
"Thank you Jay." Eris beamed, blushing slightly as she kissed his cheek.
"Let's go." Mal said, leading the way to the gardens where the event was being held. They arrived just as the song was ending, just like they had planned.

After being introduced to the King and Queen by Ben, Mal and the others played croquet but Carlos and Jay were distracted by the chocolate fountain which made Eris and Evie laugh.
"What're you two like?" Evie laughed, shaking her head, her arm linked through her younger sister's.
"You're lucky I love you." Eris laughed, kissing Jay's cheek, only to freeze when she realised what she said her cheeks were now scarlet red.
"You love me?" Jay asked, a bright smile upon his face.
"Well... I ... err." Eris was cut off from her stuttering when Jay kissed her softly and tenderly on the lips, the pair ignoring Ben, Carlos, Evie and Doug as they cheered for them.
"I love you too." Jay whispered against her lips, Eris beamed and pulled him back in for another kiss only to suddenly break apart when they heard a yell.

Turning around they saw Mal was being hounded by Audrey and an older woman who had an uncanny resemblance to her.
"Queen Leah, it's okay. Maleficent is still on the island." Ben hurried to reassure her, resting his hands on Mal's shoulders for a moment before he stepped in between Audrey, Queen Leah and now Chad, while Mal's arms were wrapped in her sister's and Jay and Carlos stood with fierce glares on their faces as they supported their family. They were becoming increasingly on edge as Eris' hair kept trying to flicker to burning orange and as more insults were spewed more gold appeared within her eyes.
"And you two, you two are nothing but gold diggers and cheaters." Chad snarled at Evie and Eris.

"Mirror, mirror, in our hand," Evie and Eris said, stepping forwards holding the ornate mirror in their joined hands, "who's the biggest jerk in the land?" They asked, turning it to face Chad and the others when Chad's own face appeared within.
"What!" He scoffed, shoving the twins away from him which made Jay lose his temper.
"Hey!!! Get your hands off my girlfriend and best friend!" Jay shouted, steadying the twins before lunging at the ponce and grabbing him by his shirt. "Back off Chad! Just back off!" He shouted once more, not letting anyone pull him off.
But Evie and Eris had had enough. Evie took out the potion filled perfume bottle that Eris had made for their getaway out of her handbag causing the ponce to fall asleep. Taking their chance the five ran off back up towards the school.

If they thought they'd get a respite they were sorely mistaken. Eris' anger was continuing to boil under her skin, her hair now a blue flame that was steadily becoming a burning orange, almost resembling fire, but her breaking point was when Doug brushed off Evie siding with Chad even if he was bullied into doing so, and Mal was mocked by Jane and Audrey.
"That's it!!" Eris shouted, the picnic area suddenly became as quiet as a graveyard as they stared warily at the demigoddess who's eyes were molten gold and her blue-flaming hair was now a burning inferno of red and orange. "Beware, forswear, undo Jane's hair." Eris cast undoing the spell she and Mal had done on their first day.

"There's a lot more where that came from." Eris promised, standing up and facing Audrey and her clique.
"Excuse me, just who do you think you are!" Audrey demanded indignantly.
"Does it look like I'm kidding!!" Eris asked, creating a ball of blue fire in her hand, her hair a literal fire and her eyes still molten gold. It seemed through their thick skulls that Evie and Eris weren't just the Evil Queen's twin daughters they were also Hades, God of the Underworld's daughters as well, which meant they were dealing with a witch and a goddess and that scared them.
"That was hot!" Jay whispered, staring at Eris heatedly. Once everyone had scarpered Eris dispersed the fire in her hand and allowed her eye and hair colour to return to normal.

"Only you Jay. Only you." Carlos sighed, shaking his head at his best friend who was ignoring the incredulous looks he was receiving from Mal and Evie.
"I'm really looking forward to the Coronation on Friday." Mal stated, eager to not only forget what Jay had said about her youngest sister but for some revenge on how her sisters and best friends had been treated that day. "Come on, let's get out of here. Tomorrow we need to grab that wand and blow this popsicle stand."
