Chapter Five, Try Outs

Chapter Five, Try Outs

Eris sighed agitatedly as she entered the changing room - she really did not want to do this. Why was it only her that had to? What about her sisters? Sighing once more she shanties into the white, blue and yellow crop too and matching skirt that the uniform consisted of. Next, she slipped on some white ankle socks and white plimsoles and finally, put her hair up into a braided ponytail but refused to put the yellow bow in her hair. She knew her makeup clashed with the uniform but she didn't particularly care; she wasn't going to change who she was to fit in with the prissy pink princesses, and that included her makeup.

Walking out to the training field she was immediately spotted by Audrey, who gave her a fierce glare.
"Don't glare at me you prissy pink Princess!" Eris snapped, her blue hair turning a burning blue flame. "I don't want to be here but Fairy Godmother is making me try out and making Jay and Carlos try out at the tourney field."
"Fine." Audrey snapped, knowing there was nothing she could do as she was sent here by the Headmistress but she didn't have to like it. "Let's see what you can do." Straight away Eris started doing backflips, cartwheels, jumping off things and flipping in the air and doing splits. When it was called time, to the amazement of the other girls, Eris wasn't even panting with exertion.
"How are you not tired?" One of them asked incredulously.

"That's nothing compared to what we do on the Isle. If you want to stay away from your parents you stay out as long as possible and find ways to entertain yourselves." Eris explained with a shrug as she got up with ease.
"You're on the team. Training is every Tuesdays and Thursdays at four. Don't be late." Audrey sneered, flicking her hair over her shoulder at Eris, who moved out of the way, and stormed away with the other girls following in her wake. Sighing Eris left to go change out of this horrid thing and find the others. Unbeknownst to her, was that Jay had watched her yet ours and thought she looked incredibly hot in the outfit.

After changing, Eris met her twin outs fe the changing rooms and hurriedly left as they had to meet Mal to corner Jane and put their plan into action. They had just arrived at the lockers hearing the tail end of the conversation between Ben and Mal.
"Way to take all the fun out of it." Mal commented. "Let's go, sisters." Mal said looping Eris's arm through her own, so Eris was between her two older sisters, they followed Jane towards the bathroom.
"Hi." Mal said sweetly.
"It's Jane, right?" Eris asked, just as sweetly.
"Ah! We've always loved that name. Jane." Evie added, motioning between herself and her two sisters.

"That's cool." Jane said uncertainly.
"Don't go!" They shouted, startling the meek girl.
"We we're just king of hoping to make a friend." Mal said sadly with a nervous chuckle.
"You probably have all the friends that need though, huh?" Eris asked, brushing her flaming blue hair behind her ear.
"Hardly." Jane said softly.
"Really?" Evie questioned surprised.
"I mean, with you Mum grimy Fairy Godmother and headmistress?" Mal asked incredulously. "I mean, not to mention your own... personality." Mal chuckled.
"I'd rather be pretty." Jane sighed. "You all have great hair."

"You know what? We have just the thing for that." Mal said, as an idea formed. Eris got her spell book out of her bag.
"Beware, forswear, replace the old with brand new hair." Eris incanted, waving her finger at Jane. As the spell took affect Jane now had longer, curled hair and a smaller version of the bow in a side bow headband. Turning to look in the mirror Jane had a look of awe and amazement upon her face as she fiddled with her hair.
"Wow!" Evie beamed, the three sisters standing on either side of Jane with Mal standing behind her with a smile on her face.
"You almost don't notice your other features anymore!" Mal mockingly complimented her.

"Do my nose!" Jane eagerly stated, talking Mal's spell book which she also held in her hands.
"Oh. I can't. The three of us have been practicing, but you know, we can't do really big magic, yet." Mal stated.
"Not like your mum with her wand. One swoosh from that thing and you can pretty much have what ever features you wanted." Eris stated.
"She doesn't use the wand anymore." Jane informed them despondently, a pout on her lips. "She believes the real magic is in the books. And not the spell books, regular books with history and stuff."

"What a rip." Mal scoffed.
"Yeah." Jane agreed sadly.
"But she used it on Cinderella." Evie stated confused.
"Who wasn't even her real daughter." Eris added.
"Doesn't she love you?" Mal asked sadly.
"Of course she does." Jane insisted immediately. "It's - it's just tough love. 'Work on the inside, not the outside.' You know, that sort of thing." Jane pouted, looking like she was going to cry.

"That's the face!" Mal exclaimed.
"Yeah, and then just look aw if your heart is about to break." Eris informed before showing her what she meant. She put on a sad face as her own eyes filled with tears. "Oh, Mother, I just don't understand why you can't make me beautiful, too."
"Think it would work?" Jane asked intrigued.
"Yeah. I mean, that's what old Cindy did, right? And your mother bibbidi-bobbidi-booed the living daylights out of her." Mal exclaimed, making Jane laugh. "Hey, it your Mum dues decide to break out the old wand, invite us."
"If I can convince Mum, you three are so there!" Jane insisted excitedly.
"Yay!" The three sisters exclaimed in fake happiness.
"Bye."
"Bye."

After classes finished for the day the three returned to the rooms Evie and Eris shared, Eris finally gave Evie and Mal the horrible news. Evie was happy but Mal was not. Deciding to take her mind of it, Eris started making an outfit for Evie (a black and blue leather dress) while Evie was making Eris an outfit (a black and grey leather dress) a sheer magic screen was put up between the two sewing machines so neither could see what the other was making but still see each other, and Mal was laying on Eris's bed drawing when they're peace was interrupted by a knock on the door. It was Jane.

"Mum said, 'if a boy can't see the beauty within, then he's not worth it.'" Jane complained to the three girls. "Can't you believe that? What world does she live in?" She exclaimed, dramatically flopping on to Evie's bed.
"Auradon!" Mal scoffed.
"Mal, do you like?" Evie and Eris asked, showing the results.
"Yeah, they're cute." Mal said, smiling at her sisters. "They'll bring out your eyes."
"I'll never get a boyfriend." Jane complained, hugging the pillow tightly.
"Boyfriend's are overrated." Mal stated.

"How would you know, M? You never had one!" Evie countered.
"Cause I don't need one, Eve." Mal argued. "Not after what happened to, E. They're a waste of time."
"What?" Eris asked, when Evie suddenly gasped.
"Oh no, I forgot to do Chad's homework!" Evie exclaimed, running over to a large rucksack.
"WHAT!?" Eris exclaimed enraged, her hair turning a burning red at the thought of some idiotic boy using her sister.
"And that is exactly what I mean!" Mal stated, just as a knock sounded on the door and am Asian girl with a short bob walked in.

"Hey, guys! I'm Lonnie. My Mum's Mulan? No?" She asked seeing the vacant expressions on Eris, Evie's and Mal's faces. "Anyways, I love what you've done with Jane's hair, Eris. She I know you hate us and well, you're evil. Would either you or Mal do mine?" She asked.
"Why would either of us do that for you?" Mal asked incredulously.
"I'll pay you fifty dollars." Lonnie bargained, holding up a pouch.
"Good answer. We need some more fabric." Evie and Eris said together, as Eris took the pouch and Evie looked Lonnie over.
"Let's see, I'm thinking, we lose the bangs, layer it and some highlights. What do you think, E?" Evie asked her twin.

"No. No. I want it cool." Lonnie interrupted before Eris could say anything. "Like Mal's."
"Really? The split ends, too?" Evie and Eris asked through gritted teeth. Mal gave them a look but they just smiled sweetly as Eris shook the pouch. Growling Mal got up from the bed, grabbing her spell book.
"Okay... beware, forswear, replace the old wiry cool hair." Mal incanted, waving her finger at Lonnie. Immediately lightened from black to a chocolate brown, was in a side parting and was curly.
"I know. I know." Evie commiserated, as Lonnie stared silently in the mirror. "You know what? Let's cut it off. Layer it -"
"No, no, no, no, no, no!" Lonnie insisted. "I love it!"

"You do?" Evie asked.
"It's just..." Lonnie trailed off as she tried to figure out what was missing, until she ripped the corner of her skirt creating a slit. "Now I'm cool."
"Like ice." Mal agreed, as Jane walked over and copied Lonnie's actions only to gasp in horror.
"What did I just do! Mum's gonna kill me!" Jane exclaimed horrified, covering her mouth with her hands.
