We all stared up at the wand that was taunting us from the middle of a force field. We crowded around it.

I said, "There it is."

Jay cheered, "Whoo!"

John yeled "Yeah!"

We rushed down the staircase to the floor where the wand floated. Mal said, "This is it. We found it."

I said, "Almost too easy."

Jay and John ducked under the railing, each on one side.

I said, "Jay, don't be idiotic. There's a force field around it for a reason."

Jay shrugged it off. "Don't worry about it. I'm a master thief."

Mal said "Please John, don't!"

John them said, "Cool up."

I muttered to Carlos, "But not a SMART master thief."

The second Jay's fingers touched the force field, he and John bounced back, flipping in the process. A siren began to wail.

We all yelled, "OW!"

Carlos said, "A force field AND a siren?"

I said, "Well, obviously! They're not dumb!"

Jay said, "It's just a little excessive."

John said, "Just a little."

I said, "LET'S GO!"

The phone rang, I and Carlos quickly ran to it and pick it up.

"Hello?" I answered.

"Amy!" Mal hissed.

"Uh. . . Just give me one second. One second." I said. I put the phone down and typed in a few things, turning the alarm off. I exhaled in relief and ran a hand through my hair. "Uh, Yeah, yeah. No, false alarm." I said. Carlos looked at the papers and pointed to one, tapping it with the pen to me tell to then. "It was a malfunction in the LM 714 chip in the breadboard circuit." he motioned for him to hurry up.

"Yeah. Okay. Say hi to the missus." He chuckled.

"Carlos, Amy!" John hissed again. I hung up the phone and grabbed he my wrist.

"Carlos! Amy!" Evie called.

"You're welcome." He said, pulling me out with them just as the security guard came back in.

"Way to go, Idiot." I told Jay and John, smacking the two upside the head. "Now, we have to go to school tomorrow!"
