Late that night

Kate is in her room trying to study that night, and talks to herself.

She thinks to herself, Arggh...! Men...! Boys...! How can they be so stupid and so stubborn at the same time! She pauses for a few minutes. If they have to prove something - then let them! She pauses again. If they want to kill each other, then...whatever!

She reaches for her MP3 player (which turns out to be her mom's after they got switched) and turns it on to the first song.

She looks at her clock and seeing it says 11:52 she exclaims, "Michael!" She grabs her sweatshirt, the master-key card from her dresser and runs out the door. She goes quietly down the stairs and slips out the front door into the night. The Remingtons live four blocks from the school, so she runs as fast as she can down the sidewalks under the light of the moon until she reaches the front door.
