Ready for PED?

It has been a loooooong night...

First off, I want to congratulate Duncan Laurence and the Netherlands for his win. Arcade was one of my favorite songs this year, so I'm glad that a song that I actually like won, not like the two previous years. It was a deserved winner, and props to him for surviving the betting odds hype.

I don't think that Michael deserved to be last, and that Zena was a bit low, but at the same time it's hard to see them any higher. Spain and Greece were surprisingly low, though, especially Greece. It's also surprising to see how Greece scored lower in the televote than in the jury vote. Malta and Cyprus finishing 15th and 16th was also a bit of a surprise. I'm also really glad that Slovenia finished 13th. I thought that the jury would like it more, and the televote, less. I wanted to vote for them but my stupid phone operator told me that I used more than 15€ of services and I was thus blocked from sending more votes. So annoying...

Also, what's the deal with North Macedonia finishing second of the jury vote? I know it's a jury bait, but still... At least televoters placed her twelfth. And a small piece of advice for future participants: if you want to win the jury vote, send some gospel. They really seem to enjoy it. So do I, but it's less fun when it's this predictable.

The discrepancy between jury and televote for the Czech Republic is huuuuge. I'm really surprised, though, because I thought that it would rather be the opposite. I guess that the jury was composed of dozens of tiny dancing Jamalas.

I didn't see Norway winning the televote coming. Twice. So thanks, juries, on this one.

Oh, and Poland was this close to qualifying... I take it back; freaking juries.

Now, if we follow this year's logic, Ireland should come back next year with a controversial banger and smash the televote. I don't really think that they deserved to come last, but well, at least it's not Portugal.

Speaking of controversies, I really hope that next year, we'll have a contest free of controversy. This year has been a pain to follow because of all the mess that is happening in Israel. The Netherlands is, in theory, a controversy-free country, so I'll dare to dream about a calm contest. Without politics...

Who am I kidding, we have the jury vote for that.

Anyways, congrats again to Duncan and his team, and see y'all next year in my favorite country on earth, the Netherlands! :D

Now PED can come in and ruin my end-of-the-year school grades.
