Hunting

Aregon padded through the forest quietly; unlike Areogoin who walked as loud as an elephant! He sighed with a scowl and turned around. "Arag," which is what he called Areogoin for some unknown reason,"I will cut you if you don't SHUT UP!"

"Aww...you wouldn't do that to me....," He thought for a moment and made a puppy face,"Would you?"

Aregon turned around and kept walking. At times like this, he didn't know how to respond. He kept walking but angled his face to where Arag could see half of it.

"Yes. I would. Gladly." That made Arag stop walking and take a few steps back, but Aregon wasn't finished. "But, lucky for you, I won't cause you are my cousin."

Abruptly, Arag dashed forward and hugged him tightly. "I always knew you loved me!" That gave Aregon an idea. He turned and faced him with his hands out.

"Uh hu....I love you so much that...." He collected his words and said cheerfully, "I'm willing to let you hunt by yourself, and if you come back with a deer, we will have some dessert." He knew Arag would never be able to kill a deer, which would make him even more desperate to kill one, only to have dessert. But Aregon knew there would be no dessert. Not tonight.

Arag's eyes lit up, "Really!"

"Uh hu.... But ONLY if you kill a deer."

"Oh don't worry, I will!" And with that, he bounded off, making so much noise that even the birds that normally wouldn't pay attention to a snake creeping up on them, flew away in hatred.

"No wonder he was never accepted to be a ranger," he mumbled. In his opinion, it was very easy to become one. Obviously, Arag was just plain dumb.

A twig cracked, followed by some rustling. He abruptly scrambled up a tall tree and sat on a talan. They were used by the elves in Lorien, but the ranger had copied and set them up on basically every-other tree. They were supplied with extra bows and arrows, including food, blankets and pillows for some hunting nights. The Elves had supplied him with this; only if he agreed to share his hunting grounds with them. He had thought two nights about it, and finally accepted the offer. Aregon chuckled and looked off to where Arag had left a deep trail in the grass. "I guess Thranduil and his Elves will not be seeing another rabbit for quit some time," He whispered.

Slowly, the ranger took out his bow and set an arrow onto it. He noticed that the odor of scorched ground had caught his attention. Gradually, a shadow passed over the ground and the smell became stronger. Aregon drew back the bowstring and aimed it at where he guessed the creature causing this would appear at. His eyes grew wide and he lowered the bow. For there, stood a teenage girl.
