18.Elves
Roman's (pov)
I tried to calm myself as I looked around my surroundings. The Enchanted Forest. Fan fucking tastic. I picked myself up from the ground my only guide now being myself. My completely useless, untalking, unmagical, creatureless self.
I sighed running my hand through my hair and taking my first step into the unknown. It looked to be around mid-day, so surely there must be some creatures out and about. I started headed, what I assumed was south. When I heard a rustling, damn deja vu, I looked up wishing to see Virgil. Yet the only thing I saw was a regular old bird. I groaned, turning back to-
"Hig!"
I yelped jumping back, yep definitely deja vu, but this time, this time it wasn't a seven foot centaur but a human? He stalked his way up to me, a devilish smile on his face. "Human?" He spoke with a thick accent of I don't know what. I opened my mouth only to clamp it shut. Damn Deceit. I nodded rapidly, looking the other up and down. He was wearing a long green skirt that stopped at his ankles, an open vest and ponytail tied high. "H-human!" He yelled in excitement. He hoisted me over his shoulder and jumped around in circles. I squealed, slamming my hand down on his back. Though he didn't seem to care, his full beard itching at my side. Eventually, he put me down holding me at shoulder length.
"R-Remus." My eyes widened as he gestured to himself. I tried to speak but nothing but squawks came out. "-Emuss! R-re!" My voice was high and tangled but I didn't care pulling him into my arms. He seemed confused but hugged back, just happy to see another person. I pulled back pointing to my face then his. Trying to tell him. "T-tw~" I struggled greatly, my throat closing in on itself. "Face?" I shook my head. Of course he doesn't speak English! It's been years! But whoever raised him... I snapped a branch and dug it's edge into the ground, drawing a chunky yet feasible cartoon house. He smiled wider, babbling in his own language. He grabbed my arm and pulled us deeper into the forest. Dodging trees and bushes, leaping over puddles and rabbits. It all seemed so surreal. I mean my brother. My brother! Tears welled up in my eyes but I quickly wiped them away. He doesn't even know.
At last we arrived at a waterfall. Remus pulling us both straight threw the water. I spat out the salty water, only to be met with a cave. A cave full of elves. I stared in shock as one of them came storming over. "Remus!" She seemed to be the eldest, ears the pointiest and scowl the sharpest. She froze however, when she saw me, as if doing a double take. I smiled awkwardly. Though my attempts at a warm welcome failed miserably as she pulled Remus behind her. "Human!" The other elves began to notice eyes widening upon seeing me. Remus tugged on the elders arm, slipping into the language. She shushed him however. "Who are you! And why are you here." It was clear it wasn't a question. I gestured to my throat whilst shaking my head. "You can't talk?" I nodded. I pointed to my face and then Remus's, trying my hardest to make it clear of what was happening. But everything seemed to snap when she looked to my eyes. "Roman?" Remus's head snapped forward, mouth agape. I nodded once more, this time letting the tears fall. "B-brother?" He asked. I smiled.
"Brother."
