Chapter 1-History part 1

By birth I am no elf. By blood I am not an Elven Princess. By marriage I became the Elven Queen. Who is my husband, you may ask. Well he is the ElvenKing, the wise, feared, and fearless ruler of the Woodland Realm.

My husband is Thranduil, king of the woodland realm and those who belong to it. Many have heard of him, but few understand his past.

Allow me to explain.

I met Thranduil when he was a young king. He was looking for a wife, wanting to produce an heir, like any king. He had a smile that never faltered and a grace that always presented itself. He loved laughter and had a heart for those in need. He loved his family and his people. He never faltered in his step and he was a fierce fighter.

His reputation proceeded him as a great ruler. When I was a child, my mother would sit me on her lap and recount the tale of how the young elvenprince rescued us from giants from the north. He had kissed my head and had promised to care for our people.

I had been around 8 at the time. Later on my 18 birthday, my family received a visit from Lady Galadriel herself.

"Is this your daughter?" She had looked to me.

"Yes, your highness." My parents had bowed and pushed me to the shining woman.

I stared at her. "Oh my darling." She touched my cheek. "You will become someone great one day." She tilted my head to look to her. My blues took on a shine in the light. "Yes. I see greatness in your eyes, but that greatness is years to the future. I have a gift for you." She stood. "Come with me." She reached out her hand. I looked back to my parents and they nodded. I slid my small pale hand into her own.

I walked behind the shining lady with widened eyes. She took me out to where an elf army was standing. The elves parted as a young elven royal walked forward from the middle of the ranks on an Elk.

"Your highness." He bowed his head to Lady Galadriel.

"My dear this is King Thranduil." She bowed to the man on the elk.

I dropped to a deep curtsy, my blonde hair fanned around my waist. "My lord the king."

"Rise." He motioned. "I have come for the ceremony. Lord Elrond was intercepted on the way but should be here soon." He made a small noise and one of the soldiers came and took the giant elk's reigns.

He dismounted with grace and ease. A small smile played on his lips. I looked at his regal features. His strong jaw, long nose, high cheekbones, and blue eyes made his features deadly and his air poised.

I smiled slightly at him. He looked down at me and a curl in his lip made me aware that he was watching me.

A man rode in on a horse flanked by troops.

"Ah, my lord Elrond." The lady Galadriel held her hand out for his lips to touch. He dismounted and I bowed low. "This is Alavara Celelaeth, daughter to Sir. Anthince Celelaeth, half man, half elf. I believe you have met before."

"Many times." Elrond kissed my hand and helped me rise. My long blonde hair curled around my waist and the Lady moved forward. Elrond offered the shining woman his arm and she gladly accepted.

Thranduil looked to me. "Well my lady Alavara, shall we?" He extended his hand to me. I shyly placed my own in his. My favorite ring, a climbing vine, glinted from the sun and caught the young king's attention.

"How do you come by this ring?" He studied my hand on his arm.

"It was a gift. From Arwin, a dear friend of mine." I swallowed. He looked at the back of the Elf lord in front of us.

"Tales of Elrond's beautiful daughter have reached many. It is said that for a young elf she is the most lovely."

I nodded. "It is true." I sighed and looked down once more. The thought of Arwin made me sad. I had grown up with her in Rivendale if not for a short time.

"I am sorry if I brought sadness to your heart." Thranduil's smooth voice woke me from my gaze.

"Don't be, your majesty." I smiled a small bit. "I grew up in Rivendale with Arwin as my best and most dear friend."

"Please, Alavara, call me Thranduil." He commanded.  I looked up into his deadly blues.

"Thranduil." I whispered. A smile broke on his face and he nodded.

"Friends?" He whispered as we neared Elrond and Galadriel.

"Friends." I sighed and smiled at him.

"Lady Alavara Celelaeth." Lord Elrond turned to me. The white wizard Saruman sat at the raised dais. "We as the council have decided to grant one human the gift of immortality." I stared at him. He smiled. "My Lord Thranduil, the Lady Galadriel, Lord Saruman, and myself have decided that you are the human to bare this task." He smiled at me. I could feel myself tighten my grip on Thranduil.

"I... I am honored." I smiled slightly. "Are you positive that I am the one?"

"A hundred percent." Lady Galadriel smiled. "You have greatness in your future, we all sense it and Lord Elrond can see it. Blurred but it is there."

I looked to Thranduil. He smiled a quiet, calm smile and nodded. I removed my hand from my vice like grip on his arm.

"I am ready." I glided forward. The Lady Galadriel smiled and Lord Elrond made room for me. The white wizard helped me onto the table. I stood and they gathered.

"This may hurt a small bit, and no doubt hurt will follow you where ever you go because men can not live for ever and you will. You will seek a partner from amongst the Elves." Lord Saruman quipped. I nodded and closed my eyes.

A strong wind wrapped around my body as the Lady and the white wizard spoke incantations. My hair fluttered around my body, twisting, shaping and molding itself into a delicate braided mass. It grew longer and touched the back of my knees. My long blue gown was transformed into a pair of trousers and a tunic brocade with flowers and silver. A bow landed at my now boot clad feet and a sword appeared in my hands. Two blade were pushed into a holder at my back and my once soft body was hardened with unseen muscles. All my curves were the same  merely hardened into a corded muscle.

I opened my eyes and saw a shining ball of light make it's way towards me. I watched transfixed as it came closer and closer until it dove into my body. My head fell back at the searing pain of life entering me. My arms were held to the side and my feet floated off of the ground.

"AH!" I screamed as scenes of my life to come flashed through my head at lightning speed. I thrashed and finally came to rest on the ground. I opened my eyes and looked around. The Lady Galadriel slumped into Elrond's arms.

I fell forward and a pair of strong arms wrapped around my frame. "Alavara." Thranduil caught me and laid me on the floor.

The Lady took a few minutes to stand and I stood finally after several minutes. She looked me up and down. "Now my darling you are an elf."

She smiled at me and I looked at myself for the first time. Black boots came to meet my black pants. A deep green tunic was flowing over the two and a black vest covered in gold and sliver flowers covered the tunic. My blonde hair flowed freely to my knees. It was in a tight braided mess at the top of my head but flowed from there.

My blue eyes were hooded by black full lashes and my pale skin glistened.

I looked in the mirror near the table. "It is really me."

The Lady Galadriel smiled at me. She nudged Thranduil. He stepped forward and came up next to me. "You do understand, that now you are one of us. There is no going back. You will out live your family by decades. No attachments to humans." He looked down at me.

"Of course." I nodded.

"You were 18. Now you are 1900." Saruman's voice came through my fogged brain. "You will live as long as you do not get killed in battle."

"I understand."

"I will remain here for a short duration of time to teach her to fight, then I must return to Mirkwood. My father is ruling in my place as of right now." Thranduil nodded to Saruman. He smiled and took my hand.

"My dear, you are  a lucky girl." Saruman smile reached his eyes.

"I know." I smiled back. He looked at me and then released me. I turned to Lady Galadriel. She tilted my head to look into her eyes.

"I have one final gift to give you, but you will not find out what it is until later in your life." She smiled and kissed my forehead. I nodded and she turned to Lord Elrond. "My lord."

He held his arm out and she slipped her's through it. I watched in silence. The white wizard bowed and then moved away from the stone table.

A hand extended to me. "Shall we?" Thranduil's blue eyes searched my own.

I felt a pull at my heart. The faintest hint of a blush stained my pale cheeks. "Why thank you, my Lord Thranduil."

He smiled a hint. "Alavara, did we not discuss this?"

"I am sorry, Thranduil." I ducked my head. He reached for my hand and clasped it in his own.

"I am on the hunt for a bride, you know." He was making a conversation.

"Oh?" I rose a brow and looked up at the man next to me. His ornate crown was covered in the leaves of spring with twigs and sticks sticking out of it.

"Yes. I need a wife. My father ruled for two hundred years alone, then he found my mother." He smiled at the memory.

"You are doing the same I assume?"

"Yes." He nodded. His brown eyebrows pulled together. "My father is picky how ever, and no female has met his standards yet."

"I thought you were the one getting married though."

"I am, but as is tradition, the father approves the bride or groom." He looked down at me. "It is unheard of for a father to be especially picky."

"I guess you would want only a pure bred line for your royals." I glided next to him.

"Yes. I believe so." He stopped and nodded to the general of his guard.

"Your majesty." He bowed before Thranduil.

"I am to remain here to teach the Lady Alavara how to fight. I will return in a months time." He looked at his faithful guard. "The rest of you continue the search. Send the elleths straight to my father so that he may choose."

The guard bowed again, "Yes my lord the King." He swaggered off.

"Moose." Thranduil called. The giant Elk wandered up to where we were standing. "You will remain with me."

"Allow me to show you where you will be staying." I came up on his side. He nodded at me and then turned Moose over to the stables.

"My father's kingdom is rather small." I began. "A gift from the Lady Galadriel on the eve of my parent's wedding." I showed him through the court yard. "They began to rule around 25 years ago. My brother was born shortly thereafter and then me." I smiled recounting the tale. "Peace reigns through the lands of Celeborn." He followed me vigilantly. "I hate to admit, but I am tired of peace. I sometime secretly wish for something to spice up life, but it is simply the same every day."

"No longer." Thranduil's smooth voice pulled me from my story.

"What do you mean?"

"I simply mean the peace filled life you know will now change. It will never be the same again." He looked into my eyes. "Alavara, you are now an immortal. You do not have a choice, you will see war and plenty of it. You will know of pain, and longing. You will know of the hurt that fills every part of your very being. You will never be the same."
