Chapter Twenty One
A/N the thing in the media section is the dress I kinda imagined Losseiriel in... Also, I'm going to keep calling "Tierra" Losseiriel bc that's what everyone in Middle Earth knows her as, but when I say Tierra I mean Tierra Of The Earthean Realms.
We rowed on for what seemed like hours until we finally reached a decent shore. From what the movies could tell, (as of late, fate and the plot were getting closer and closer,) we would have spent a night here and continued on the next day. I helped Merry and Pip out of the little boat, throwing them each a sack of food, and then pulled our boat up to shore. I opened my mouth to say something to Legolas, but he saw me coming and quickly turned away, busying himself with some unneeded task.
Everyone had gotten settled in. A fire was being built, food was being cooked, and we were basically at leisure. I sat down next to Losseiriel on a log a little ways away from the group, and she smiled and scooted closer to me.
"So..." I clasped my hands and rested them on my knees, "What have I missed?" She raised an eyebrow and then spoke.
"Well, after you fell in, people were cheering and stuff, but then we saw you flailing around and getting sucked into the falls. You went over and into that pool thing, and I dove in after you. You had passed out and I only saw a glimpse of you before we both disappeared. Gala-apple woke me up here in Lothlorien, and kept talking about this prophecy and princesses and stuff. As you can tell, I wasn't really paying attention..."
"That much is to be expected," I laughed, rolling my eyes as a joke and sighing.
"But last night she said she wanted to teach me about being 'a princess', which I found very boring, and she put all these visions in my head and stuff, really creepy," Losseiriel paused, seeming jokingly disturbed, "Anyway, she said that she's using this magic thing to connect with my mind, and soon I'll fit in with the normal elleth [elf girl] population!" She clapped and seemed really excited, and I was happy for her but still didn't get why she was so happy about this herself. She had always been a headstrong, independent soul who beat her own path.
"So, basically she's brainwashing you until you're a completely different person?" I asked, worried and confused at the same time. She nodded.
"I guess."
"Will you remember, me? Or the Earthean Realms? Or anything?" I was worked up now, and she just shrugged casually, "And you're completely okay with this? I mean, you don't think there's any way you're going back home?"
"She said it would be better for me to spend the rest of my life here, that I shouldn't get attached to the old world because I'll probably never go back." Her voice changed tone between her old self and some sweet, melodic thing that seemed strange to me. She twirled a lock of her hair between her fingers and inspected the hem of her sleeve, things Tierra would never have done.
I opened my mouth to say something else, but I heard a crash in the woods. Leaves poofed and branches cracked, and a small squeak was heard from a few meters past the river bank. I looked over to Boromir and nodded to him, we were going to investigate.
I quickly grabbed my bow from the boat and tiptoed to the treeline. I could still hear leaves rustling, and it sounded like multiple pairs of feet were shuffling about. It seemed like they were getting closer, and I noticed that Boromir had drawn his sword, so I knocked an arrow and barely pulled back on the bowstring. After a few more footfalls, I rushed over to whatever was rustling around and quickly released my arrow.
Three elf lords ceased their giggling circle and turned to face me.
"NOOOOO NO NO NO!" Elrond cried, grabbing a lock of his hair and waving it around, "I'LL NEVER BE SYMMETRICAL AGAIN!" It was then that I realized my poorly aimed shot had cut a chunk of his hair short. Celeborn patted his shoulder and tried to comfort him while Thranduil backed away in horror.
"I CANNOT BE SEEN WITH SUCH AN UGLY BEING. ITS BAD FOR MY REPUTATION." Celeborn shot him a glare and returned to Elrond.
"Why are you even here?" I asked, "And how did you get here so fast?"
"Daily... Fitness... Walk..." Elrond said between sobs. Thranduil threw some spontaneously-appearing glitter at Elrond, in sarcastic effort to make him feel better.
"Do you need food? Supplies? How are you getting back?" Elrond and Celeborn ignored me while Thranduil sassily flipped his hair.
"Oh dahling, they don't call it a fitness walk for no reason! How else does an elf become such an amazing-" Thranduil was cut off by Legolas bursting through the trees.
"Ada [father]!" He squealed, jumping up and attaching himself to Thranduil, similar to a koala and a tree. The Elvenking quickly brushed him off and untangled his ruffled hair.
"We should be going now... Good Morning!" Celeborn shouted randomly, and the three elves sprinted off into the woods.
"Well that was weird."
•time skip through walking back to camp and sitting around staring at each other for awkwardly long periods of time until the sun started to set•
I sat up and stretched. The fire was starting to burn low, and Gimli snored to the side of it. It was getting darker, a sign that the moon was soon to be on the rise.
I saw Legolas pull Losseiriel into the woods from the corner of my eye, and she giggled a bit but he hushed her. He looked around behind them, making sure they weren't being followed, before plunging deeper into the woods. This was too suspicious for my liking. Wait... since when was this any of my business? I'm not possessive or anything *nervous twitch*...
I deemed the camp under reasonable security. Everyone was asleep, that makes it relatively safe, right? So I followed quietly after them. I heard Losseiriel asking where he was taking her, and him fussing over the fact that they might get caught. I think he even carried her most of the way. In my gut I felt a pang of... fear? Jealousy? Since when did Rhoevien Darkwood get jealous of her best friend?
After following them for a little while I felt a breeze coming from the east, and when I looked up, sure enough we were at a scenic overlook, who's view washed over Lothlorien and the lands beyond. I could see the river bank, where Boromir, Frodo, Sam, Merry, Pippin, and Gimli all napped.
I watched as Legolas pulled Losseiriel to sit beside him on a boulder, and realized that this would probably be the appropriate time to hide. I found a thick, Seqoia-like tree a little ways away from their boulder, and quickly hid behind it.
"It's beautiful," I heard Losseiriel's unfamiliar, soft elf voice float through the air like some sort of pollen, "Isn't it?" The last part was muffled, making me guess she turned away from my direction to face Legolas.
"Not as beautiful as someone else I know." Maybe if the princeling didn't speak in riddles I could pretend to be Sherlock for a minute and figure out what he meant.
"If you're going to hit on my friends, do it when they're here and I'm not," said Losseiriel, not seeming the slightest bit aggravated, despite her comment.
"I'm not hitting on your friends," he replied, "I'm hitting on you." SHE WAS SO OBLIVIOUS THAT IT HURT. I stifled a half-hearted gasp and sighed, at least he understood the phrase- I didn't want to be the one to explain.
An empty silence followed, but the tension that hung in the air told me otherwise. I needed to see what was going on, even if it wasn't my business. I knew I shouldn't be spying on my friends, and it felt wrong, but I had a sudden drive to know everything everyone was feeling. It was scaring me.
I carefully hoisted myself onto a higher branch, and took a deep breath before I peeked around from behind the tree. Losseiriel sat on Legolas's lap, her face cupped in one of his hands. She blushed as he rubbed his thumb across her cheek...
That was quite enough. I quickly snapped back into my hiding place behind the tree and felt myself become strangely disturbed.
"I think I love you, Losseiriel," Legolas whispered. I kept a straight face, with some effort.
"You seem to have let your confidence waver, my prince." Her voice was beautiful and melodic, but the words seemed to drip a seductive poison. What exactly was Galadriel doing to her? Because the string of words that left her mouth would not have belonged to the Tierra of the Earthean Realms.
"No," Legolas replied in a similar tone, "I love you, Princess Losseiriel of Lothlorien."
It felt so wrong now to be watching my friends, and I regretted it. They didn't know I was watching, they weren't filtering anything.
But wasn't that the point?
A/N: FEEL THE CLICHE LOVE TRIANGLE COMING ON MY FRIENDS?
Friendly reminder, this is not a chick flick. I stuck in some cliche shnuff because it makes it sarcastically ironic. I added some romance to help the plot, yadayada necessary plot twist yadayada. IF YOU THINK IRONY IS STUPID YOU CAN LEAVE NOW AND NEVER COME BACK GOLLUM GOLLUM because this story is filled with it.
CLIIIIFF HANGERRR SORRY
PS. This entire chapter got deleted and it feels weird retyping it so I understand if it's not super good >.<
