When the knock on the door came, Sonam had to consider getting up and opening it. It was three in the morning. Who would come by at this hour? All the servants were asleep and Virat was not even home. She had not heard from him in four days when he stormed off in anger, it was the longest they had gone without talking to each other.

Usually Sonam was the one who always made amends but this time it was not even her fault. Standing up from the bed, she inhaled a deep breath and wrapped a blanket around herself. She opened the door and frowned as she saw Virat standing there.

He looked like he had not slept in days, one hand holding a bag and another one holding the door as if he wanted to brace himself. He lifted his eyes to look at her and all she saw in his eyes was confusion and grief.

Sonam did not say anything, she just moved aside making sway for him to enter the room. "Are you okay?" She whispered touching his arm.

She saw the uncertainty in his gaze and moved forward, wrapping her arms around him. He stood still for a moment and then hugged her back, leaning in her embrace trying to wash away the guilt of all those nights he had wronged her.

"I'm sorry." He murmured against her hair.

"Hey, it's okay. I know your work is important." She thought he was referring to all those times he had not paid attention to her due to work or the fight between them a few days ago.

Virat, however was only thinking about how he was going to redeem himself from all of it.

He didn't want to tell her anything, didn't want her to go through with that pain but he knew he was doing right by her. He had to tell her the truth.

He sat on the edge of the bed and so did she.

"Sonam, there is something I need to tell you." He said after a while. She frowned again.

She didn't know what he wanted to tell her and that scared her. She wanted to tell him so many things, things she had been hiding for so long but it could wait. Virat had to tell her whatever was crawling in his brain and she knew he wouldn't rest untill he told her.

"Why don't we take a nap and you tell me what it is in the morning?" She still tried to persuade him as she glanced at the bags under his eyes.

"No, I won't have the courage tomorrow. Please..just listen." Virat pleaded.

She nodded, patting his back.

"Okay, what is it, love?" She asked sweetly, trying to make it easy for him. Virat put a strand of hair behind her ear.

"Sonam, you're the most amazing and most beautiful person I have ever met, you're kind and you're sweet and you're everything that a man could ever dream of." He started off, telling her whatever he felt, consequences be damned.

"Baby, that's what you wanted to tell me, I got so scared-" She chuckled but Virat interrupted her.

"Wait, let me finish." Virat mumbled.

"I know that you're a woman who is modest and I love for you it, you're humble and you're forgiving and yet I did something I was never supposed to do." He explained and Sonam looked at him with a deep frown now.

"What?" She interrogated, a dread filling her heart.

"Sona, I know I promised you on the day of our wedding that I would never move away from you and I would never compare you to the women of this world, of this elite world." He remembered exactly what he had said.

Sonam, this world is fake and you are real. This world is artificial and you are natural. This world is powerful but you are my weakness. Never think that you are less than these women, you are better. So much better. Don't think that you are inferior than them. You're not. I fell for you, not for them. You're my woman in saree, these dresses don't please me anyway.

"I know I promised you that I wouldn't fall for someone in a dress because I love my woman in saree. But Sona, main-" He hesitated as he saw the fear, the vulnerability, the emotion, the uncertainity on her face.

Sonam pressed her fingers tighter in his hand wondering if this was happening.

"Virat, kya keh rahe ho? (What are you saying?)"

She asked clearly, her words coming out as a slur.

"Sona, ghalti ho gayi. (I made a mistake)"

He finally said it. Sonam removed her hands from his and stood up, her fingers going in her hair as she walked back and forth.

"I don't understand." She murmured.

"I have not been busy all these days because of work." He explained further.

"Yes, you have." She tried to deny whatever Virat had said.

Virat shook his head.

"No, I haven't. I'm ashamed of myself, I swear I am. This is why I'm coming clean. I know not telling you wouldn't hurt you but I love you and I want to do right by you." He held her shoulders as she started to shake a little bit.

"Please, don't. No, Virat." She pleaded asking him to just stop.

"Sonam, I had an-" She interrupted him again as he tried to tell her.

"Virat, saying it will turn it all into a reality, no..just no." She pleaded again. Virat removed a stray tear from her eye.

"Sona, suno. I had an affair with another woman behind your back for three months."

"Virat, please." She tried to stop him, don't say it. Don't tell me. Why would you? But Virat kept speaking knowing that he had to speak.

"I caught feelings for her and a part of me started to fall for her but a few days ago, I realised that you're my love. My true love."

This changed her demeanor entirely. Her body shook with rage and she backed away after a few moments. Tears coming out of her eye in full force but she didn't care.

"Virat, leave." She stated. Virat gave her a vulnerable look.

"I'm not leaving. Please, forgive me." He asked for ger forgiveness and he knew she had the heart to do so.

"You cheated on me, I can't believe you cheated on me." She rambled.

Her heart broke as she realised the nights she had spent alone, he was with her. Whoever she was.

"I'm so sorry, I-" He apologised. Sonam cried.

"You're sorry? Virat, you're breaking my heart."

They say that marriages are made in heaven and Sonam truly believed in the theory of loving someone unconditionally for the rest if her life. Virat had made her believe he did too. But maybe he had lied back then too..just like he had lied now.

"Sona, I don't want to ruin what we have." He told her, trying to hug her and calm her down.

"You cheated on me." She yelled not caring anymore as she pushed at his chest. Virat didn't even flinch a bit but his heart hurt watching another woman cry because of him.

"Did you sleep with her? Tell me!" She yelled again.

"Sonam," He didn't have the heart to tell her.

She was already too broken.

"Did you sleep with her Virat?" She questioned again.

"No, I didn't." He lied in rush instantly regretting another lie that he was telling her but he knew this would never be acceptable to her and she would obviously do something to herself.

He knew she was not the person to break off a marriage but he also knew she was the person who would hurt her ownself for something he had done.

"Promise me? You didn't sleep with her?" She asked.

"No, we didn't reach that moment and I realised my mistake." He lied. Another day..another lie.

It sucked.

"Yet you had an affair. Why? Is it because of how I look?" Sonam said quietly. She judged herself over and over again as she looked in the mirror.

"No, no."

"Am I too fat for you? Is it because I don't go to gym everyday?" She questioned looking at the little bit of stomach that she had or the arms that weren't toned. Things Virat didn't care about but she thought he did.

Women always doubt themselves when it comes to cheating men, thinking they weren't good enough.

"Is it because I don't wear skirts and shorts? Is it because I don't know any brands? Is it because I don't have a fancy degree from a foreign university?" She questioned again and again making Virat flinch.

"You cheated on me and lied to me. You're a liar Virat. How can I ever trust you after that?" Her voice came out as a whisper and he moved forward holding her arm.

"Please, Sonam. I love you." He pleaded.

"You don't love me. You don't destroy the people that you love." She replied.

"I do, I love you. I made a mistake. Forgive me." He held her waist.

"Sonam, I'm all alone without you. Please." His vulnerability and weakness showed.

"Virat, go please." She murmured.

"Go where? This is our home, let's forget it. Let's start again." Virat tried to persauade her.

"How can I trust you after this?" She put forth her thoughts out again.

Love hurts, loving hurts but what hurts the most is losing trust over someone you thought the most highly of.

"Because you love me too much not to." Love. Is it all a lie? But with love comes heart break so it's not a lie after all since she's heartbroken.

"Love is unconditional but trust is not." With that she broke down into tears.

Raw pain and raw emotion all over her. Virat engulfed her in his embrace and held her while she cried. She didn't push him.

He rocked her slowly trying her to stop.

"I'll gain it back, I promise. Please don't cry." He rubbed her back.

"Virat, I can't forgive you." She mumbled sobbing.

"Please, if you forgive me this time, I will never ask for anything else." He promised.

He didn't know if he could keep that or not.

"Can you tell me her name?" She questioned making him remember her.

She must be heartbroken too.

She must be crying the same way. But there was nobody to hold her the way he was holding someone right now.

"No, Sonam..don't do that to yourself. Love me, please." He pleaded again striving for a chance.

Sonam finally nodded after a long while. She wiped away her tears.

"One chance, Virat. I'm saving our marriage this time, don't make me regret it." She warned him.

"I won't, I promise."

He promised and he would try hard to keep it this time.

After that, he simply sent a message to her. I don't love you. Refrain from contacting me. - Virat.

Even though Anushka was already broken, that message broke her even more.
