Prologue: The Elf's Promise

...

"The Divine Guide, Kingmaker, Sage, Advisor, and Hooded Elf. He goes by many names throughout history and referred to many nicknames for his involvement not just throughout a specific point in history. But the whole history as far as when the first men created fire."

"He saw countless civilizations birthed and formed. So too did he saw civilizations fall and scatter. With his divine hand, he guided the light of civilization to form what it is today, from what he taught to his apprentices so did their apprentices spread more of his knowledge and teachings throughout."

"From his apprentice's words spread knowledge and helped civilizations, however, those who are lucky enough to encounter the Kingmaker himself are bestowed with phenomenal wisdom and formidable strength, granting them a legacy most out of this world, in this current age, the latest living person who encountered the Kingmaker was the Grand Sorceress Yuumi who still breathes today within her magic clockwork tower in the magic nation of Helia."

"The Sage erected two towers in the two points of the world that reaches the skies. Within the indestructible towers contain the machineries to help all creatures of the world to assist in creating magic systems and magic arts capable of multiple abilities. It is these machineries that civilizations have the ability to fight."

"With the comparison to a performing conductor of an orchestra. His graceful movements made numerous countries prosper against the unfathomable and the impossible with the sleight of his hand and his words of virtue. With his guide did he allow countries to exist in situations and places most dire."

"With his actions, he guided them all for a goal buried within his mind. With his watching and prying eyes he has watched all of civilizations and its people. The Hooded Elf has seen all and has guided all. Yet with his contributions, he hath not asked for its price nor reward, for he himself has all rewards. If this is so, then his reward was simply watching civilizations move forward."

Night.

A beautiful night it was, the alignment of the stars is ever perfectly so in this moment of stillness. As much as I want to see these beautiful stars very closely and be bathed in its grand glorious luminosity and warmth, I do not have the ability nor the power to make it a reality. The moonlight is brightly glowing throughout this side of the world as if comforting me for my unrealistic wishes, or so my perception tells me. After all, It is only the natural order and chaos of the world that it became that way. Balance is the one element that is important throughout the world.

"If you truly wish to see reach for the stars, then start for the moon first." A feminine and light voice called out to me as if answering my thoughts. I merely slightly shook my head at the statement as I continued to stare at the star.

"No, that in itself is also an impossible dream, within the next thousand or two thousand years, at least." I melancholy replied as I waved my hand that conjured an eight-pointed star that shined brightly for a moment before it disappeared and swapped with a long cylindrical object standing on three straight legs with a small tube protruding from an end.

"You conceptualized and materialized the «Redeemer»  that revolutionized magic and allowed even the lowliest of all beings to use the arcane arts. I cannot comprehend what is preventing you from further advancing and guiding the world. With your power and influence, it is only a matter of counting who rejects or dismisses your plans. Nearly all of them shall agree to unite for your goals." The voice attempts to counter my words yet I still shook my head as a reply. I peered over the small tube of the cylindrical object as my vision suddenly changed from simply seeing the moon from afar to looking closer at the moon, thoroughly examining its surface. Truly, what a fascinating sight I see.

"My contributions to all are not to be underestimated, but the chaotic traits and orders of the world will certainly discover a way to intervene in my goals. It is true that my innovations and guides toward civilization always change the tiniest factors and variables within the world. But you fail to realize one thing. I guide the world in the guise of simply entertainment in the changes the world would possess." I said to the voice behind me. I dare not look at the source of the voice and simply indulge in observing the surface of the moon, silence passes by a minute per minute as I switched the view of the object to those of the distant stars.

"You spoke of your ambition of watching the theater that is known as the world for your own amusement; yet that goal you execute at random times, at which point you distance yourself from the world's interaction for a random period of time." The voice responded to my words. The voice's words are accurate and true. Yet it isn't enough to make me sway myself and my established principles. As much as I would like to converse furthermore, this topic is starting to go more specific about my existence and my purpose.

"You already knew the answer yourself and yet, you still ask. I shall answer no further to this question. Although speaking of the theater, I'd obtained information about the new actors on the stage. But I presume you already knew that." I responded back while changing the direction of the object that I was operating, with subtle and careful movements I redirected the sight towards the more distant stars more distant than the ones I observe.

"Yes. I've heard of the new interesting actors. The Heroes from a world unknown. Though there are only six of them, they are certainly without a doubt powerful for they have been blessed by the «Redeemer» and the blessings from the gods from an era beyond my understanding. However, in front of your «Redeemer» and your abilities. They are nothing. However, they have the possibility of possessing intellectual knowledge more advanced than our world can archive." With details did the voice elaborated on the expectation that I gave towards it. As I hear its information I slowly unpack the object that I was operating and conjured a magic pentagram that took the object within.

"If that possibility were to be true, then we can reduce the years it takes for around a thousand. That is, of course, if their knowledge is preserved and inherited with their expiration. However, if that possibility were to be false, then that would mean their capabilities are greatly lowered and thus, not a threat to my theater. However, the theater that I am spectating greatly ever so I had paused and stopped my actions. I would like to interact with the world in a way that is not a repetition of what I had been doing throughout this history, hence I disappeared from this world's eyes. I will wait, wait until the time a variable within this world that will certainly entertain me." I simply sat down while a log seemingly appeared out of nowhere to act as my chair. Everything has been a repeat of what I am doing every time I intervene in the natural state of order.

"...You will not forcibly acquire the knowledge you wished and seek from the heroes— no, the wanderers? Despite so knowing that it will hasten your first wish to see the stars?" The voice called out as if it was tempting me or persuading me to take action. However, I shook my head as I stood up from my sitting position and walked four to five steps ahead.

"Once again you questioned something to the answer that you already knew. I am simply a watcher and a spectator for entertainment, no matter what type it is. Unless it affects greatly affects me, I shall not make a move." I conjured an elaborately extremely large magic formation in the sky looking closer, each gigantic letter in the formation revealed smaller letters, stacking upon letters of letters in the formation. The outer ring of the formation revealed numbers of numbers.

"As much as I would like to see the process, my time is running out. Very well. I shall go now and will return to you in an unforeseen time." The voice stated as I continued to conjure the magic formation, from there a small white glowing ball emanated from the formation. It slowly but surely floated downwards.

"I am well aware. You, from the world of the distant future. Just like me, you are also a spectator of simply the past." I simply said as I took hold of the falling white ball. As the white ball was in my hands, I can see that various long strips of characters surround it, coiling it as if it was a ball made of strings.

"!! This isn't... You knew..! You knew of the future! Yet you withheld this saying after all the times I have spent with you. How!?" The voice said as panic can be heard in its voice indisputably. It seems like all of my plans revealed this moment.

...So this confirms it. In the end, I lost the bet with her...

"I am a spectator that is entertained from an uncertain future. A future that you already know results in nothing. It is a shame that we are entirely different in the roles of watching and spectating. I seek for a future that is undiscovered, while you seek the past that results in your future." I confidently said as the seals and characters on the glowing white ball began spinning slowly and gradually rapidly. The sheer power of the seals and characters rotating around the white ball and unleashing a strong gust of wind without the main output of the ball's power itself displays a fraction of its true power.

"You will regret your decision!" The panicking voice said, its reaction slowly converting into anger as evident by its voice.

"Yes, that is what it means to be a watcher. I have gathered enough influence to entirely manipulate one crucial and perhaps an additional variable to this world— No, this timeline." I said as the seals and formations on the white ball disappeared.

The glowing white ball cracked before shattering, revealing a golden glowing sphere which is composed of infinitely rotating blocks that form squares. The night sky and the stars above start to glow in high luminosity unlike before. So this is the timeline's anchor... It is not what I expected. However, with this, all the pieces have gathered and it will finally end. In the beginning, when I obtained it, I was quite confused about how to activate or use it, but throughout the actions I did. I gradually understood. And now, I hold the key to creating an entire timestream once.

"I will only be able to return to you in the few gaps where the temporal space of synchronicity are failing to hold! You will create an entirely new timestream! You yourself will become an anomaly within the timelines of this dimension someone who can change our future! You will doom us in this timeline of our future present! Stop!" I ignored the voice as the golden sphere in my hand gradually rotates faster than I can perceive. I see, so it's finally the activation.

As I look upwards toward the sky, I can see that the stars and the satellites above burnt brightly and covered the whole world in pure golden light. This warmth and light I felt made me remember my history and my role.

"You underestimated me as merely the one who guided civilizations. This was all my goal in the beginning and in the end. This timeline is now unanchored from the destined future, it is now truly free. For that was her and my—" "STOP!" I shouted at loud at the voice that originates from the sky. My whole vision only saw the golden light as the voice tried to shout at me for stopping one last time, and no sooner, did the golden light I saw slowly turn black. I felt myself no longer feel my senses and I can no longer think, yet, something still remains in my consciousness as I can feel my existence disappearing... What is it?

...

Right... It's her.

"Promise?"

Promise.
