Chapter 7: An Explanation

The four obliviously powerful teenagers laid unconsciously, scattered across the high perfectly green grass. The current spacious area resembled that of a wondrous meadow. Sunflowers, daisies, and multiple other types of delightfully vibrant flowers sprouted from out of the soil. The cool breeze blew all visible plant life softly.

Seraphina somehow being the first one to do so, awoke from her unconsciousness. Her head ached painfully as though her brain was hammering against it. She sat up slightly, leaning onto her left hand for balance. The other remaining hand was used to attend to her throbbing head. Her body, more specifically her legs felt strangely sore and her vision was completely black.

"Am I dead? Everything is dark." Sera panicked, trying to distinguish if she was still existing or not.

"Open your eyes, then you might be able to see something," Ivy suggested in a sarcastic tone.

Sera didn't even realize her eyes were still shut. Probably due to her unconsciousness dulling her senses. She opened her eyes. Everything was momentarily blurry but cleared up gradually. Once her eyes were able to completely able to visualize things, she shifted her head. She observed the rather spectacular view for a second then immediately her amber eyes landed upon the rest of the group that came with her.

Ivy was already sitting in a crossed legged position, however, the boys were just waking from their unconsciousness. Seraphina sat rather speechless when something dawned on her. No government. No black car.
"Hey um guys, where did the--"

"-- don't know," Dallas answered somehow knowing what she was going to ask, prior to her completely the question. He stood up, stretching his arms. "I assume after we blacked out they just left."

"Who cares about them!" Camden blurted out, "Let's figure out where WE are because I'm pretty sure government facilities don't have giant castles in them!"

Camden pointed out to a palace that stood high upon a grassy hill. A slightly steep grass covered staircase led up to the large golden front door. It appeared to be enormous enough to hold twenty average houses. The several yellow cones resembling towers gave the palace the image of an eccentric crown. Its walls seemed to be possibly manufactured of wood, painted perfectly with white and gold colors. The bright sun shimmered on the walls causing them to shine gloriously.

On the left of the palace was a huge waterfall that flowed the purest of water from out of one of the lowest palace walls. Its water made a relatively large river that led deep into the dark yet enchanting forest. The forest could be seen present behind the clueless group.

"Strangely enough, he's right. This place doesn't look like a government facility, or anything....normal for that matter," Ivy agreed. She stood up slowly, utilizing her hands to brush the dust from off her green skirt. After, she folded her arms, displaying her signature unemotional yet analytical expression.

"And not to mention the air is different. Like pure or something." Camden added.

Everyone look at him, confusion displayed on their faces.

"The...The air is different?" Dallas asked. He squinted his eyes towards him as though he was a crazy person.

"Yeah," he answered,".....you can't tell?"

Seraphina, Dallas, and Ivy shook their heads slowly as a response to his question.

"I'm the only one who noticed?!"

"Its because you are the air element," a rather feminine voice explain; unintentionally startling poor Camden. By merely the sound her one could easily tell that she stood at a slight distance behind the four teenagers. Her voice continued. "Welcome my fellow elements."

The group turned around towards the direction that the feminine voice came from. Within their site they observed women. She appears as though she was aged around her mid-twenties. Her hair was golden that reach to about her calves. Her eyes were jet black, yet somehow still sparkled similar to that of a beautiful jewel. Her outfit, however, was rather a simple one. She wore a small yellow dress with a thin white sleeveless jacket and a golden seam. Beside her were two men dressed in armor made of gold.

"My name is Stellina" She introduces herself, "This is Orenda."

"Orenda??" Ivy question raising an eyebrow. She opened her mouth, about to ask a question but was rudely cut off.

"THOSE ARE THE TWO GUYS THAT PRACTICALLY KIDNAPPED US AND DROPPED US OFF HERE!!" Sera exclaimed, pointing her index finger upon those she was referring to.

"Oh, darling. They didn't kidnap you, they were following their orders to bring you her to Orenda," Stellina explained," They're actually just Guards of the elements...er...you guys. Sorry for the inconvenience."

"Wait. Guards of the Elements. Guards of the Elements. G.O.T.E," Dallas said, starting to realize the resemblance,"Oh. I understand now."

"Well you guys are some horrible guards," said Camden. He stood up and looked directly into their eyes in shame. Unfortunately, he was small compared to them, thus his words did not exactly make an effect upon them. "What kind of guard paralyzes the person their guarding? I'd take away your badges if I could find them!"

"Hold on You said This place is called Orenda. Orenda isn't a place located on Earth so where are we exactly?" Ivy questioned.

"Walk with me," Stellina gestured for naive teenagers to follow her towards the enormous palace. "Orenda is actually another dimension, located right in between the planet you live on, Earth, and Space. It can only be accessed through a portal, which you just witnessed- "

Stellina was interrupted.

"WOW! Another dimension!" Sera exclaims." I wonder if I can take pictures!" Sera reaches into her pocket only to realize she did not have her phone with her. "Dang. I must have left my phone at home," Sera whined. Ivy rolled her eyes at the ginger-haired girl, foreseeing her as a possible annoyance.

"Um...As I was saying. You can only access this place through a portal. However, only beings that are or possess magic from Orenda can enter this place, otherwise, their body would turn to dust."

They arrived at the top of the staircase and were standing right at the large golden front door. Stellina opens it.

"WOAH!"

"The palace looks bigger on the inside than the out," Camden exclaimed.

The elements gawked at the entrance hall with mouth gaped open. Well, all except Ivy. She instead stared at her fellow elements as though they were insane. The floor was golden and dazzling beautiful as though the place was just polished. Furthermore, it was so clean that one could possibly eat off the floor without risking bacteria entering their mouths. The walls were also painted golden but had water trickling down from such. Near each window laid small thin yet healthy heath. The place was truly extraordinary and this was merely the entrance.

"With your mouths hanging open like that, you'll catch flies," Ivy remarked. She then changed the topic to something more important. "Ok. Earlier you stated that we were the elements. What's the point of being an element?" Her outer unemotional demeanor made her look and sound as if she didn't actually care but she was genuinely curious.

"When Earth and mankind were created, so were the elements. Fire, Earth, Air, Water, Da...er, and Light. Every two hundred years a new elemental generation is made. There mere purpose is to keep the world in control and in balance," Stellina answered.

"However," she continued; her voice was in a stern tone, "if a certain element has too much power the others weaken. For example, lets say....." Stellina paused. She looked around for a moment. Her eyes locked on to Seraphina, who wasn't particularly paying attention. Stellina walked over to her. " Let's say Seraphina here, the fire element, was to gain more magic. Earth would become a hotter planet and fires would become frequent. There would be utter chaos. And visa versa for all of you."

"How did you know my name," Seraphina asked.

"I guessed," Stellina lied.

"So if one of us overpowers another, Earth suffers," Ivy said, slightly starting to understand. "How pitiful."

"You just said there were a five elements. A light element. But there are only four of us?" asks Dallas.

"Actually that is an incorrect statement because I'm the light element," Stellina answered.

The elements gasped.

"Wait wait wait wait, You said the elements have a new generation every two hundred years. You're definitely not part of our generation. Does that make you two hundred years old!" Ivy asks, her eyes slightly wide and her voice risen.

"Do you know how old that is? How are you still alive?!" Camden asked.

"Oops, I made a mistake, haha, Only the fire, earth, water and air elements change every two hundred year. Due to your bodies being similar to a human on earth, you don't sustain for long. Whereas the Light an..er...the light element can live for much longer since the light element controls the sun. My body is linked to the sun. So as long as the sun is still in the sky, I can stay alive. Well of course except if...." Stellina explained, mumbling the end.

Stellina cleared her throat. "Ok well I think that's all the talking I'll do for now," she spoke quickly. Presumably to hide her mumble, " Um, Jason here will show you around the palaces." She pointed to Jason. He was one of the palace guards. Jason gestured for the elements to follow him. All left.

Once the elements were perfectly out of sight Stellina against one of the walls that did not flow with pure water.

"So why didn't you tell them about Adriana," said a rather masculine voice.

Stellina jumped a bit at the sound of a familiar voice," My God, Arsalan, you scared me."

"Well?"

"Well...It just....didn't come up...."

"Stellina. I'm not stupid."

"Ok fine. I didn't tell them about her because they're just kids. They couldn't possibly handle the fact that they're wanted to be killed by my sister. Besides she's just a part of the past and can't come back because of my barrier."

"Do you honestly believe that barrier would keep her from coming back?"

"Well, it has for this long...."

"Well if that psycho comes back. I wish you all good luck," Arsalan says as he leaves.

Stellina sighed deeply.
